When he and Thelma Lou are visiting with Andy, it's the only time I remember seeing Thelma Lou with her hair down isn't it? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Sep 2000 08:12:38 -0400 From: "Jeff Koontz" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Weavers in Mount Airy That is is great news about Weaver's setting up shop at the Main-Oak Emporium because it is a very nice facility and even open on Sundays. Be sure to stop by next weekend during Mayberry Days and support TAGSRWC. The building is located right next to the Old City Jail, just behind Main Street. She had never seen "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" and I hadn't seen it in years so we watched it together. I know that the studios were simply looking for vehicles in which to cast the "Barney" character but I'm always amazed at exactly how much was "borrowed" from TAGS. Anyway, in the movie, I saw where he used the same line that got Gomer in trouble in the "Citizen's Arrest" episode: "why don't you run up an alley and holler fish?". I was born and raised in the South and have never heard that saying other than on the show and in the movie. Has anyone else ever come across it? What, if anything, does it mean? Darn, my spell checker just flagged "Gomer" - obviously we need a bit more TAGS influence at Microsoft! Okay, who can tell me which direction the Mayberry Courthouse door faces (North, South, East or West)? There is a clue in at least one episode. (I'm also curious to know if they contradict this in any other episodes.) >>> I won't spoil the answer just yet, but there are THREE episodes in which this information can be found, and the direction is the same in all three cases. BTW Darrin, you should specify whether you mean going in or out the door. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Sep 2000 11:14:36 -0500 From: "Paul Mulik" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: I can't tell -- I wasn't wearin' my glasses >>>From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Has anyone ever noticed that Floyd's glasses seem to be without glass in them? I know that sounds silly........but they sure look glass-less to me. >>> Probably what happened was that the stage lights were reflecting off the lenses and ruining the camera shots, so the costume department made him a special pair without lenses. In some episodes, you can see actual lenses in the frames (especially the later episodes). Reflections are a common problem, especially when filming outdoors. The Mayberry squad cars had rather dull paint, especially the 1960 model, which looked like somebody scrubbed it all over with coarse steel wool. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Sep 2000 15:42:22 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Goober/ Nick-at-Nite On a recent M*A*S*H episode good ole Goob was a swap surgeon with Hawkeye with the 8063 maybe he went to Mayberry school of medicine. People have written about TAGS well here in Michigan on Sunday night on Nick they have two episodes at 10:00p.m. Mark ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 23 Sep 2000 21:00:40 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V2 #323 Hi All, I just saw the first ad for the new Mayberry 40th anniversary book. I haven't seen it in the stores yet though. Does anyone have one yet or have seen one? I wondered how it was and if it has anything new in it. I am looking for a Mayberry fan in Toledo or close by. I can't find any. Does anyone know of one around here. Our Buckeye cable TVLand is running Andy from 7:00to 8:00 every night the past couple of weeks. it seems we are all getting different shows at different times on the same network. Sure wish I could go to some of the events coming up but work calls me I'm afraid. Sure do like hearing about them though. Makes my day to come home and have something cheerful and positive to read in my mail. With all the violence in the media/entertainment industry what the world really needs now is folks like Mr. Bullock writing some good scripts/story's for TV and Hollywood! Can I get an amen! If I ever had an opportunity to meet Mr. Bullock I guess it would be kinda like Barney meetin the govner. I would also like to donate to the all AGS channel. Only thing is though some folks don't think I'm worth five cents but I'll be glad to put at least two cents in. If he had turned and ridden by the court house he would have been heading east. Normally I couldn't find my way out of a paper bag (I'm THAT much of a Goober) but I believe I've got her if she don't jump. In case anyone is interested, there is an old lobby card for "A Face in the Crowd" for sale on ebay. The best part is that it was printed for distribution to Mexican theatres and so reads: "Un Rostro en la Muchedumbre" You do a title search using "face crowd 1957" and you'll find it. Viva diversity! Viva Andy!! Karen "(S)he one of us?"
