"Anj" moonshine still in the middle of mayberry! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat, 30 Sep 2000 23:05:23 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Andy Griffith Show never before released photos Greetings friends! Several of you I met at various events over the past year, either at Mayberry Days, Kingsport or Pigeon Forge. I had the honor of obtaining from the grandson of the original photographer, over 1800 Andy Griffith Show photographs and Original Negatives for these photos in 1999. For any of you who have seen the new MAYBERRY MEMORIES book by Jim Clark and Ken Beck (and if you haven't seen this beauty of a book please go check it out because it is ABSOLUTELY marvelous), the Gilmore-Schwenke Archives photos in that book are just a few of this vast collection. At the request of many, we have recently released a number of these photos, most never before seen and in a vault for almost 40 years. We have made them available in 8x10 form. For a list of those available please drop me an email. I will ALSO be at the Birmingham event next weekend. I am staying at the Hoover Courtyard Marriott (number there is 1-800-321-2211 if you want to reach me while I am there... they still had several rooms available if anyone needs a room next weekend! This hotel is 2 miles from the event.) and will be there late Friday afternoon. If any of you wish to purchase in person, please feel free to look me up there either Friday evening or Saturday morning. These photos are only available in LIMITED quantities and I only have several of each one printed, so please let me know if you are interested. For the stars appearing in Birmingham next weekend, I have quite a few rare poses of these folks that will be available. Look forward to hearing from you and hope that I can provide some neat Mayberry items to you! Well, I fired off my address to Allen and thought about e-mailing everyone I know about it! But my dear, departed Daddy taught me three things I will always remember and use... 1) Suffer in silence 2) Lefty loosy, righty tighty 3) Don't count your chickens before they're hatched So I kept it to myself. Well, I had purt near forgot about it when I went to the mailbox on Wednesday and saw a priority package with HARVEY BULLOCK'S return address on it!!!!!! I RAN back to the apartment, whooping and a-hollaring! Inside the box was a notebook and 13 packages of Kleenex Lil' Travelers. A letter from Mr Bullock said that he had read my post in the digest of how "Opie the Birdman" always makes me cry. He said he thought that if I had a script of the episode to refer to as I watched it, I maybe would remember that everything comes out alright and not cry so much, The kleenex were to use if it didn't work. So there I am. with a SIGNED script of "Opie the Birdman" and a personal letter from the man who wrote for Andy!!! I burst out in tears and my hubby, Elvisfife, is tearing open Kleenex saying, "Don't cry on the script!!!" To think that a man like Mr Bullock would pay attention to something I wrote and would be such a prince of a fellow to send me something! Mr Bullock, if you're reading this, you will be recieving a regular letter from me soon! Thank you SO much for the "prank gift"...I will treasure it always! I have laminated the letter and all the pages of the script so they will last forever!!! I am going to make labels for the Kleenex packs that say "Official Harvey Bullock Tear Dabbers" and give some of them to folks in my chapter! So how's that for big??!! ~the groovy but awe-struck misspoovey~ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 30 Sep 2000 23:59:27 -0400 (EDT) From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Connie Degrassi) Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V2 #330 To Sandy who lost her dog. Coincidentally I too, lost my 11 year old, a bull terrier, named Fanny, just last Friday. (That's the breed that Spuds Mckenzie was.) It is like losing a part of the family, I know. I still turn off the internet every the evening to take her for her walk, and it hits me all over again. I'm glad there are so many friendly people here in Mayberry who understand. On a lighter note, I always assumed it took so long to get to the Darlin's because of the rough terrain, and I wondered too how they got the car to the Darlin's front door? "Luck t' you 'n yers!!" My question is, if Mr. Tucker was just walking into > town & saw Andy getting into the sheriff's car, how did he know Andy's last > name? Mayberry being a friendly town and all, I just assumed that he met someone as he was walking to the church. That "someone" probably told him that he needed to find Sheriff Taylor. Seems like the easiest explanation to me. Hope that helps. I liked the connection in Matlock where Don would Call Andy "Benj" of course this makes nore sense ibut its delivery was just as familiar as "Anj" Also, does anyone have any info on Andy's 70's movies where he plays a small town police chief. theye were filmed in Big Bear Ca. and the scenery is jus beautiful. ITBS runs them infrequently, but I can't find out howmany wre produced. they looked almost like a TV pilot. Y'all take care now. A lady from our Sr. Social Club here in Warner Robins, Ga. went on a bus tour last week to Mayberry Days, sure wish I could have gone. This morning in the Macon Telegraph, Ed Grisamore's column is all about his experience at Mt. Airy. He interviewed a lot of the towns folk, including David Browning (Barney Fife) Charles Dowell, who runs the Snappy Lunch, said that Mount Airy was almost identical to Mayberry when TAGS first started, but like everything else nothing is the same after 40 years. I know it was one big happy experience there last week. It would be nice if the people who live in Mayberry, Ca. would try to live their lives like the characters in their namesake town, it can be done, if we would all live by the Golden Rule. After looking at all the pictures in my "Mayberry Memories" book (GREAT WORK, Mr. Beck and Mr. Clark!!!), I got to wondering about something. So I will submit this as a question...Who is the oldest surviving cast member from the show? Could it be Don Knotts?? I'd appreciate any information on this one! I'd have loved that little shin-dig you had. You are indeed a Mayberry kind of person to go to all that "fuss and falderall" and my hat's off to you. I might also add, it sure grieves me to know that there are still folks out there who just don't get it. (and teachers, at that!) Oh well, hope part 2 is just as fun for you!! My question is, if Mr. Tucker was just walking into >town & saw Andy getting into the sheriff's car, how did he know Andy's last >name? Hey Teresa, The way I've always figgered it, being that Mayberry is pretty much closed up on Sundays, as we know, and some helpful person saw a stranger, Mr. Tucker, hoofing it in the morning heat and suggested that his best bet was to find Sheriff Taylor. When he spotted Andy, he knew who he was looking for. I have seen several small towns that put up these type of signs. Just a thought...
