Clint was one of the moonshiners who were hiding their hooch in the
graveyard. Maybe they were working for Colonel Harvey!

Hi Y'all

Just wanted to give my Mayberry Days 2K report.

This was my second Mayberry Days and as usual it was a blast. It was neat
to meet and re-meet so many of my Bulletin Board friends, as well as those
that "hang out" at Sarah's chat room.

I ate my fill of Pork Chop sandwiches from the Snappy Lunch, went to see the
Dillard's Friday night show, sit in the middle of "That's Bullet
Maintenance" Cha[ter of TAGSRWC at Colonel Tim's finale show (a highlight of
that show was the "Nip it in the Bud" song and also being part of the
Mayberry Choir). The biggest highlight of the weekend was watching "The New
Housekeeper" episode with all of the original commercials at the downtown
cinema and staying to hear Dr. Brower's lecture with Mr. Elinson.

Thanks to Jeff Koontz for letting me help out at the Silent Auction, and to
Allan for all his entertaining and making me feel like a citizen of the
group.

This is not exactly TAGS related, but since TAGS fans
are friendly and helpful...
As some of you may know, this weekend's Fandemonium
Marathon on TVLand is My 3 Sons, featuring the less
often seen black and white episodes, which are
probably my favorites of the series as I love William
Frawley as Bub and Tim Considine as Mike, and, of
course, Meredith McCrae as Sally.

Unfortunately, this is also the weekend I am leaving
on vacation early Saturday morning, so I am not able
to tape more than 1 tape worth of episodes myself and
there are SOOOO many good ones to choose from, I'm
having a really hard time deciding.

So, I was wondering if anyone is planning to tape any
or all of the marathon, or would be willing to tape
any of it? I have access to a 2nd VCR and can copy
your tapes if you want them back - I would be happy to
pay for the videotapes, postage and your trouble or I
have some classic TV videos, I would be willing to
copy for you in trade.

Please e-mail me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and let
me know and we can work out arrangements.

Monica

I watched the movie, and have to admit that I was disappointed. My wife and I
read the book in the summer of 1999, and it is far better than the movie. Too
many changes were made in the film version that were not true to the book.

However, the dog that played Skip was great. But then I'm biased - we have 2
Jack Russell Terriers ourselves, and until you have experienced a JRT, you
haven't lived!

We had a greaat time at Mayberry Days again this year. Special thanks to
Allan, David, Phil, the Surry Arts Council, the people of Mt. Airy and all of
our Mayberry friends for making the weekend so special. It was great meeting
new folks and really good to see our "Sarah's" bunch again.
I've posted pictures from the weekend over at the Mayberry Giants place. If
any of y'all have pictures you'd like to share but don't have a place to put
them, let me know and we'll add them over at our place.

Subject: two stories in one

<my brother claims that it is the ONLY episode with a "sub story"...two
stories in one.>

Michael got me started thinking about this and to me, the episode with
Miss Rosemary seems like two different stories. Fortunately, this is one
that they always show the epilogue - otherwise it wouldn't tie together
at all.

I was also wondering...Does anyone know what that thing was that Rafe
bought at the rummage sale for the Scobey's? I think I'd like to have
one!

I've still not recovered from all the fun of Mayberry Days. What an
outstanding celebration it was - many thanks to the Surry Arts Council and
all the volunteers who put it together.

A very special thank you to everyone who helped with the Silent Auction this
year. We raised (unofficially) $1478 for SAC to use in their many projects
with the arts for kids, programs for seniors and special needs children,
theatre, music and so much more. Our auction raises good money for a great
organization.

It was a great effort from so many people and I appreciate everyone who
donated something, spent time at the auction, and/or bid on the outstanding
items available this year. I knew there were outstanding WBMUTBB members
who could make this a success and it is a pleasure to work with each of you
during Mayberry Days.

Subject: Jim Nabors

Does anyone know if Jim Nabors ever recorded the "Marine's hymn," or the the
song "Oh mine papa?"
I've looked high and low and don't believe that either of these two were
ever recorded by him. I've never heard the "Marine's Hymn," and have only
heard the other on "Gomer Pyle"
BTW, I have heard, finally, "Shazaam!" cute song.
