When we met Howard Morris in Anniston, Alabama several years ago at a
Mayberry event he was a mite abrasive but I think he was just trying to
sort of stay in character. When we tried to compliment his work, he
seemed aggravated and embarassed so we stopped and just smiled. Perhaps
he had a cold and didn't want to pass it on or doesn't want to take
chances on catching something from a stranger; after all, children are
notorious for harboring viruses. I love little children but every time
I'm around them I come down with a cold!

Hey Folks,

Each year we open back up the Old Rimshaw Place for all of you to drop by and
check out during this time of spooks and such. Please take a minute and drop
by the front page of the TAGSRWC web site and click on the link for Rimshaw's
place. I think you'll like it.

Also, hopefully we'll get a new design for our Mayberry-o-Lanterns" from Paul
this season? Paul, you got one in the works?

Your first is my very favorite! I was lucky to get it on tape during the
last TVLand marathon and it was episodes like "The Pickle Story" and "The
Loaded Goat" which helped me through the critical condition of my companion
 cocker spaniel. >>

Hey To All,
Just wanted to clarify that I do know Mr. Bullock's first episode was "Opie's
Hobo Friend" starring the incomparable Buddy Ebsen....so please don't load my
emails up thinkin I made a booboo! It's more of a posh puff moment for me
(heck, I think I own stock in Posh Puffs)... And I was lucky to get it on
tape during the TVLand marathon along with so many others (okay so I used up
5 or 6 tapes on extended play!)...

It was episodes of laughter like "The Pickle Story" and "The Loaded Goat"
though that helped ease the "heaviness" of Mickey's illness. I guess
laughter truly is the best medicine sometimes.

As I said in my first posting in the Digest....I truly consider all of the
TAGS series to be a blessing through good times and bad! Thanks again Mr.
Bullock!

Ohhh how I need to get home to my pickle stash!

Does anybody know who's house is besides the church? I saw it in one
episode and I could'nt beleive it.

Hey, someone wrote me and said the house beside the church is Mrs. Wiley.
That wasn't the name I was looking for. If that is true. then who lives on
the other side of the church?

I never got near enough to Howard to know what kind of mood he was in. Not to
question anybody, but I heard nothing but good things about him from the others
who got his autograph or spoke with him. My own experience with the stars I
did get to talk to or get autographs from, is that they were the kindest, most
gracious collection of celebrities I have ever met, with Betty Lynn, Elinor
Donahue and Jean Carson standing out for being especially sweet. (I actually
expected Elinor to be the cranky one--maybe due to the role she played on
"Father Knows Best"--but I was glad to be wrong.)

I too enjoyed the reunion. I wasn't going to relay this,
but since you asked: I wouldn't necessarily call it rude,
but I did think Howard Morris was a little peculiar. I got
his autograph, and he personalized it and signed it "Ernest
T. Bass." I requested that he also sign his actual name,
Howard Morris. He refused and his handler told me that he
doesn't sign anything Howard Morris. I thought it was a
little strange, especially considering that he was charging
$10 per autograph (which, if you wanted, included an 8 x 10
photo, but it was $10 regardless if you wanted the picture
signed or something else you had, like a rock or book). Is
it really an autograph if it is just him writing his
character's name? I'm not all that hung up on autographs
anyway, so it doesn't really bother me. I just thought it
was odd that he was charging $10 and wouldn't sign his
actual name. Anyway, the $10 charge was apparently a
discount because you can get the same thing from
www.ernestt.com for $14. I did enjoy his performance at the
show, as well as all of the other TAGS/Gomer cast members.
Thanks to everyone who had a part in it. Being from the
Birmingham area, I'm glad to hear that those of you who came
from out of town had a good trip. I wish it hadn't been so
unseasonably cold for everybody, though. Everybody talks
about the weather, but nobody does anything about it. I
think Calvin Coolidge said that.

"I'm not finished making the sandwiches yet, Paw. I made a peanut butter and
liverwurst, a peanut butter and bologna and one just peanut butter and

I,for one, would be proud to get a "rude" from Howard. People would come
from miles around just to hear me talk about gettin' one of them rudes.
Let's not post this speculation about the stars' attitudes - it serves no
purpose. Anyways, mebbe he was just in character and thought somebody was
trying to hunt a possum without a sharp stick or something. I understand
you can smoke them out, too.

Just so y'all will know. The WBMUTBB Digest is only sent out one time
per day OR after the size reaches a certain number. There wasn't a
Digest on Wednesday because we didn't have too many folks posting
messages so the size wasn't reached and no body posted a message that
was 24 hours after the last issue (Tuesday's) was sent out. This email
I'm sending should cause a Digest to be created and mailed to you
today.
