The quick reply was the motor sickle episode. But, I also noticed another today when Ernest T. Bass tried to join the army. Just thought I'd pass the word along so we could all be up to date!>> I remember this topic. But I don't remember anyone ever mentioning the episode "Gomer pyle, uSMC". This was an Andy Griffith episode even though it was the pilot for the Gomer Pyle, USMC series. There was a dozen or so african americans in this epsiode. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Oct 2000 09:59:38 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V2 #354 I remember Amos and Andy! It first was a radio program than moved to TV I watched it when I was home sick from school. It came on about 9 A.M.Two things come to mind when I am reminded of the show. They made being sick worth while and I think the King Fish had a wife named Ruby Begonia. I love that name!!! Barb PS If it had a time slot I would gladly watch it. It is true classic television. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Oct 2000 09:54:44 -0500 From: "Paul Mulik" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: kissing cousins? >>>Here's a trivia question for you. How many DIFFERENT girls did Andy kiss on the show...and Barney too Maybe I missed an episode, but I don't remember Andy ever kissing Barney. (sorry, I just couldn't resist). - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Oct 2000 10:06:47 -0700 From: Janet K Anderson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Is that you, Mr. Schwump? Though we don't see him in as many episodes as the ubiquitous Tom Jacobs, Mr. Schwump (the grinning man with the bad toupee) has always been one of my favorite TAGS extras. In the episode "Floyd's Barbershop" (2/13/67) where Howard buys the building and becomes Floyd's landlord, there is a scene in the courthouse with all the usual barbershop loafers gathered around Andy's desk playing checkers. The scene opens with the camera on a man reading a paper. This man sure looks like Mr. Schwump, and yet something about him looks different. He's not grinning, and maybe that's why. I think he is Mr. Schwump, but I was wondering if anyone could confirm this for me. Thanks! Hoping to dispel those nagging doubts, Janet ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access! I always get excited when seeing your name in an entry as I know I will be intrigued by your comments. I just wanted to know if you could talk a little bit about how you know everything!! Is it just years and years of research or is there something in addtion? Also, I saw your name at the begining of the Mayberry Memories book (what a book it is!) for your input and just wondered if you have any plans of writing a book of your own. I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy the bucket on your head! He is so funny in thisin. Lots has been said about Don & Andy & their school year. Being in High school,at the time, there were a few who rejoined to graduate, in 1946 who had served in the war. I was a freshman college in 1951, when at that time the school I attended in Tenn. had a trailer village in back of the school, where the married veterans lived while going to College. She got Andy and Barney to drive her out to the woods and when "the proceedings was in the ground" whoever was standing on her left was her next love. Which just happened to be her "Lover Sheriff" our own dear Andy Taylor. Also there was a qustion about Goober's last name, in the first episodes he was in he was introduced as Goober Beasley which was later changed to Goober Pyle. Everybody on the truck!!!! There was some discussion a while back about her long hair. She has her hair down and long in that episode. Gomer was fixing the vacuum. It got stuck in the "on" position, and then you know what happens. LOL) >Brisco Darling is the one who said it in the >episode you are talking about. After the >signing (with the disappearing ink), Brisco >looks at the paper and says, " There she is >boys, she's done and done." Now if I'm not mistaken, in "Divorce, Mountain Style" when Charlene was doing the divorce incant, she ended by brushing her hands together and saying "There! Done and done!!!" This was a favorite phrase of my Aunt Gee, reserved for when she felt she had completed a task particularly well. Well, that's all I have to say about that subject..."Done & Done!" ~the overdone yet still groovy misspoovey~ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Oct 2000 20:06:14 -0600 From: "Karin Leigh Jones" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Mayberry Days - places to stay? Hi - I'm new to the online TAGS groups and this is my first posting to this digest. I see notes now and then on some of the bulletin boards, etc. about "the rules" (though I haven't FOUND the rules yet) so hope I'm not stepping on any toes with my "places to stay" question. My husband & I are thinking of going to Mayberry Days in My. Airy, NC next year and have NO EARTHLY IDEA how to choose a place to stay since we aren't familiar with that state.. I figured some of you-all might have been and had opinions to share. All info & suggestions welcome! We want "as Mayberry as possible" a place. I have loved TAGS since it first aired, and managed to collect about 20 or 30 video tapes (3 shows each, mostly) before I discovered it was being re-run on TV Land. Every time they do a weekend maathon, we tape the whole weekend, "just in case." My favorite experiences have been when we stumbled on a show (here and there) that we'd never seen before. Ah, that's heaven! We live in the mountains of southwestern Colorado and the closest town to us (about 10 miles) has only 400 or so people in it, so we're pretty "small-town" and rural here. I think I saw a listing for a chapter in Western Colorado, but it is in Grand Junction (about 100+ miles north of us) and not very handy. So I guess I'll do my "visiting" online. Hoping to hear some "places to stay" suggestions..... Thanks, Karin :) (almost Aunt Bee) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Oct 2000 21:10:25 -0500 From: "Scott Gamel" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Amos n' Andy > Date: Sun, 22 Oct 2000 22:05:03 EDT > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Blacks in Mayberry > > Does anybody remember Amos n' Andy? So, > the show was taken off the air, AND wiped out from ever being syndicated. > It's a shame because there were some great comedy moments. I think about that > each of the few times I see a black on TAGS. > tvparty.com has a GREAT section of information, streaming video clips, etc. on Amos n' Andy. It was really quite a good show with excellent writing and acting going back to the radio version. It was really a shame it was forced off the air. We were lucky enough to get to become very close to Mrs. Barbara Perry (she played in the "Reunion") anyway, as you all know I'm a BIG Betty Boop fan, and when we picked her up at the airport, she noticed all my Betty Boop stuff on my SUV (my airbrush tire cover & front tag), well to make a long story short, her late husband was best friends with the cartoon animator that created Betty Boop, and he (Mrs. Perry's late husband) helped out with final cartoon of her. She told me all of this and I was so excited. She promised me she would mail me some things that she had, that have never been released when she returned to her home in CA, and today I received them. I know Betty Boop has nothing to do with Mayberry, but I think it was so kind and generous of her to remember me and send all of that great stuff to me. And please remember Mrs. Perry in prayer, she is pending surgery on her hip/leg. I just wanted to share this great story with all of you. Keep on Boopin, Kathy Taylor ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 24 Oct 2000 11:25:18 EDT From: "GARY PATTERSON" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: little boats name Hey to all!!!
