There are quite a few Democrats who are big TAGS fans (me for one, Judge Joel
Laird of Calhoun County, Alabama for another, former Clinton advisor James
Carville for yet another). But I think Mayberry's true magic here is that it
cuts across party and ideological lines. Heck, we've previously discussed
the lack of black people in Mayberry--I have quite a few black friends who
*love* the show.

Allan Melvin. Just shows what swell folks are from Mayberry, huh?! I
got those license plates too and they are super!! Phil's a nice guy too,
sending me the certificate labels after the fact as well as pleasant
e-mails. Aunt Bee of Orlando

HI GANG

Greetings from good ole Indiana. I was scrolling the list today and
about to reply about the comment on Andy's politics and was glad that
Allan addressed that issue for me. What our hero Andy does and believes
in is certainly his business and it's what makes our country the
greatest in the world. Now that we have cleared that up on the WBMUTBB,
maybe someday we can do something about the "fans" who post mostly for a
profit. If it continues, I think i'll post the horse hairs I have for
sale. Great for putting in stagnation water, you know.

Loved the posting about the mail Phil Fox got from Mr. Melvin and good
ole Harv--real prince of fellas they are!!!!!!!

Mayberryingly yours,
Mike Peacock

I was offended by the remark that implied that Democrats don't have the
ideals portrayed by TAGS. I am a Democrat and have high ideals. I'm
sure all Republicans are not the same either. I have both as friends
and we have no problems being true, blue friends, we don't judge each
other by the way we vote, only the way we live and treat other people.

reading all the interesting things about TAGS and the postings on the
bulletin board. I would like to know how to become active, instead of just
reading!

Allan, there is still freedom of speech on the Internet. Sorry if you are
offended by my opinion. If I am not welcome, just say so and I will go away.

Subject: Unofficial State Of the Board Address

Well, as Allan said, it's been nine years this month that we started the
"Whose Been Messin' Up The Bulletin Board" chapter of TAGS Rerun
Watchers Club. Actually we started a year earlier with the TAGS
bulletin board subject on Prodigy. So, at least for you and I Allan,
it's the big 1-0. Happy anniversary.
When Allan started this thing, he took great care to nurture this board,
much as he does now. Sure, there were a few Ben Weavers who came
through town, but Mr. Newsome had a way of ushering them out to the
county line. The subjects back then were much the same as they are now,
except that we have a bigger knowledge base and with the website, more
sophistication. In the beginning, Allan took care of the board, and I
took the duties of "resident expert" which Paul handles so well now.
Keep in mind that those who have been here for several years have seen
so much duplication of questions and subjects by our population. Yes,
it can get tedious at times, but think about Allan and myself going over
this repetition for 10 years! But that's okay because new people coming
through want and need to cover these subjects, so Allan keeps the ball
rolling as if they are being asked for the first time.
For those of you who have met Allan, you already know what a great guy
he is, who exemplifies the true spirit of Mayberry. He is one of the
few quality people who rate a "10" in my life, and I'm proud of our 10
years together. And for all of the hard work that you've done over the
years that makes this an enjoyable experience for us, I raise my glass
to you Allan, and say "Happy Anniversary" and thank ya, thank ya, thank
ya. And to our other WBMUTBB charter members, Kathy Jo Stahl and Jack
Fellenzer, maybe you guys can check in here and give your own salute to
our founder.

I thought that maybe for the rest of November, when we post here, we
could all mention how long we've been a member. It doesn't matter if
it's been 5 days or 5 years. Thanks to all our contributors who make
this a great place to visit.

I'm just repeating myself in the hope that folks might actually read my
comments.

PLEASE do NOT continue discussing Politics here on the Digest. IF people
continue, I will put a block on all coments that relate to politics in any
way.

Thank you all,

<< Allan, there is still freedom of speech on the Internet. Sorry if you

Let me explain this one more time. This "Digest" is for talking about The
Andy Griffith Show and things related to Mayberry.

I agree 100% that "freedom of speech" is alive and well on the internet and I
support that BUT, this mailing list has a purpose (which I stated above) and
it will remain at least somewhat "on topic." That does not deny anyone
"freedom of speech" because ANYONE that likes to can set up a mailing list to
talk about "Politics" and folks can go there and talk all they'd like to
about politics.

I support that right will all my heart. I also believe that since this
mailing list is for talking about TAGS and Mayberry related issues that this
is NOT the place to discuss politics.

I hope that most of you understand that position and will understand that I'm
not keeping ANY of you from speaking your mind on ANY topic. I'm just saying
that THIS is not the place to discuss EVERYTHING.

Freedom of Speech is a wonderful thing and I'm proud of our rights. I also
know that my right to freedom of speech is not without bounds anywhere in
this country and our WBMUTBB Digest is no exception. You can't, and
shouldn't, go into a theater and yell "FIRE".

Respect the rules and things run smooth. Don't respect the rules, and the
world is out of control.

Who'd you vote for Andy?

BARN !!!

I'll tell you if you tell me.

Maybe some politics would be okay?

(NOTE FROM ALLAN: Yeah, some's okay.....so long as it's TAGS related like the
above.)
