Hey Folks,

During the process of fixing our problem with HTML email, we lost about 8 or
9 emails that were sent to the Digest. If you don't see a message you sent
to the WBMUTBB Digest between 11pm EST on Monday night and about 2pm EST on
Tuesday, the reason would be because they were lost. Sorry about that.

Quick note, if you have plans to buy some Mayberry stuff this Christmas
season, now is the time to get your orders into Weaver's to avoid the rush
that will come near the end.

Remember, Jim Clark fills EVERY order by his very own hand so be kind to Jim
and order early. I don't think he sleeps the last few days before the
shipping deadline is reached. "He's a good boy..."

Subject: RICHARD KELLY

In the Digest of 11/13 David Millard quoted a line by Barney Fife in RETURN
TO MAYBERRY wherein Barney gave thanks to a certain "Richard Kelly" for
painting the warning sign about a monster in the lake...despite " painful
arthitis in his knuckles."David wondered if it was only a coincidence that
"Richard Kelly" is also the name of the author of THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW
(1981) the first book published about TAGS, and still very definitive.'
David, it was no coincidence.
When the beloved Everett Greenbaum and I were writing "Return", Richard
Kelly's name just happened to flash in my mind. I had met him and his
charming wife Barbara when they came to Hollywood and visited me and my
erstwhile partner Ray Allen at Twentieth Fox Studios where we were
producer/writers on the LOVE BOAT series.
Mr, Kelly (Acually DOCTOR Kelly he was a professor of English at the
University of Tennessee)had become an enormous fan of TAGS when he was an
undergraduate at Duke University. He had become known for his scholarly
writings of the Victoria era, so a book on TAGS was quite a departure.
However, it has enjoyed an enduring success.
SERENDIPPPPPITY STRIKES!
It so happened Bob Sweeney was on the lot directing a "Love Boat" episode. We
nabbed him at lunch break and all revelled in swapping stories, a
writer/director/critic symposium. It was great!
I kept in touch sporarically with the Kelly's, but somehoiw didn't get around
to telling them we had dropped his name into "Return." The first he knew was
when he was watching "Return to Mayberry" on it's premiere showing..and
suddenly up it popped...to his total surprise and delight.
Admittedly a small thing, but it did serve as thanks to this most gifted,
affable , honorable Mayberrian.
Okay Paul MEWlic; you're in the next script. I promise.

Hi, I just saw the last 20 mins. of the Mayberry Reunion on the learning
channel. The part I saw was great and I'd like to see the whole thing.
Does anybody know if they are planning on repeating that show?

That particular special has aired at least a dozen times, and it's sure to
be on dozens more. Just keep checking the listings and you should be able
to catch it again.

Hi,
Just want to say that the WEB site that you noted in your last posting
is the GREATEST ! Thank you very much. I could stay on it for days,
weeks maybe even. They must be very busy though because the " Publisher
is Busy " notice comes up a lot but it is well worth the wait. They have
everything for old movie and radio gossip buffs like me could ever ask
for, and more. Thank you again.

We all know the Frank Myers in Mayberry Goes Bankrupt is named after the
show's Production Manager, Frank Myers. Yesterday I caught a Gomer episode
and noticed the credits included Frank Myers as the Production Manager. Did
Frank move over to Gomer when that show started or could you actually be
Production Manager for 2 shows at the same time?

I just wanted to say another big "THANK YOU!" to Allan, Jan and Adam, as
well as everyone else here at WBMUTBB for such a great "place" to forget
about what's going on out in the "real world", even if it's just for a
little while!

Actually, I think TAGS is much closer to reality for most folks than what is
currently going on in Washington (on BOTH sides)!!!

Subject: Ron Howard as The Grinch

I had mentioned in an earlier digest that Ron Howard had dressed as the
Grinch one during filming of the movie. I just found a few shots of Ron with
the makeup and thought I would share them. The 1st shot is of Ron in full
makeup directing while still wearing his trademark IMAGINE ball cap. The
second shot is of Ron and Jim Carrey both dressed as the Grinch.

Also, I have included a shot of Clint Howard in his makeup as "Who Bris",
the assistant to Mayor May Who.

Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V2 #364

Hi, all..

I don't often write to the Digest, though I do read it, especially the
"Prayers and Praises". This time, I have a prayer request.

My sweet little Dad, who will be 83 in December, is mentally failing, and
fairly rapidly. He knows it at this point, and is frightened. As it
progresses, he may become less aware of the problem. He lives alone in an
"independent living" retirement residence where meals are available in a
dining room, there are panic buttons in each room, and the residents sort of
keep an eye on each other, as does the staff. I'm wondering now just how
long this will be possible, as he does some mildly bizarre things pretty
regularly.

My mom passed away suddenly 1 1/2 yrs ago, and he has been just lost ever
since. She had been covering for him for quite a while, which quickly became
evident after her passing. This led to the retirement residence. He doesn't
want to live with me, and he's probably right. I work 12-hr shifts, and he
would be alone here for about 14 hrs at a stretch, then I'd be sleeping when
I did come home. He has much more attention and stimulation where he is,
along with some structure to his daily life.

He has said repeatedly that he wants God to take him home, so he can be with
my mom. He does have some physical "miseries" as well. I have no problem
with that. I know the road his illness can take, and I don't want my strong
and independent father to be reduced to the total helplessness and confusion
that lies ahead. If God chooses to take him soon, before he totally loses
his dignity, I will accept that with gratitude. If He chooses to leave him
here, then I would ask prayer for serenity for my father, and strength for
myself and my family. In all things, I ask for God's will to be done.

My apologies for the length of this - I guess I just had to "tell somebody"!

If anyone out there knows the lyrics to "Whatever Happened to Mayberry",
would you please e-mail them to me? I'm also still looking for someone who
may have videotaped portions of the Mayberry Anniv. In Mt. Airy, N.C. I
have only been a member for about 2 months and, I, like so many others,
enjoy my "get-away" to Mayberry every evening and enjoy reading all the
comments. Thanks for any help you can be on the above requests.

Subject: Prayer & Praises

Hey folks,

Oops, Lanni got confused and emailed the WBMUTBB Digest an email that should
have gone to the WBMUTBB Prayers & Praises mailing list. I'm sorry about
that and I just wanted to make sure that everybody knew that it was a
mistake.

Please do not send prayer requests to the WBMUTBB Digest.

If you would like to be a part of the WBMUTBB Prayers & praises mailing list,
just send an email to me ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) and I'll sign you up. That list
is for members of the WBMUTBB Chapter to share their needs and joy with
others of like mind. It's a good way for folks in our little community to
draw closer together and it keeps the Digest from becoming something it
shouldn't really be.

So, that said, let's keep Religion AND Politics off the Digest as much as we
can so that everyone will feel comfortable when they visit us here in
Mayberry.

Thanks!!

Folks I'm sorry to be the bearer of sad tidings but our beloved LauraLee
has been in the hospital with salmonella, pneumonia, and other medical
challenges. We almost lost her as she was at one time within hours of
her great reward. Praise the Lord she is finally home but on bedrest
with doctor visits twice weekly. I spoke with her today and got
permission to post her address so you all can send cards, and certainly
special prayers. She is very weak but trying to keep up her usually-perky
spirits and I know she'd love to hear from everyone who cherishes her
comical observations on Mayberry! Aunt Bee of Orlando
