Yesterday, while at an antique shop, I found a record I hope was a good buy.
Andy Griffith, Dolores Gray, and Jack Prince in an original sountrack
recording of Destry Rides Again.>>>
If it's in excellent condition, $15-$20 is about right. In average
condition, I'd say it's worth maybe $7-$10. BTW, as far as I've ever been
able to determine, this is the only record Jack Prince ever recorded. >>
Well, drat! If you haven't found any other recordings, then I'm sure they
don't exist, and I'll cease my fairly frequent, sporadic efforts to locate
some recordings by our beloved moonshiner. I love his voice, and had really
hoped to find something he had recorded.
Which brings up another little thought - - Wouldn't it be wonderful if
someone would go through all the TAGS eps and compile an album of the music
that was presented in them? Just think, we could have Andy singing to Rafe
("Dig my Grave with a Silver Spade"), and lots of the Darlings, the beautiful
"Away in a Manger" from the Christmas ep, and Aunt Bee singing "Chinatown",
not to mention Andy and Peggy singing "Down in the Valley" - well, the list
could go on and on. Even some of the little short bits could be tossed in,
like "Brighten the Corner Where You Are", when Andy was pickin' on old Ben.
Oh, and there's always good old 14A! And Gomer! And Rafe! And even the
Barbershop Quartet from the color ep. Doesn't it sound like fun??
Probably getting the rights to reproduce all that music would be a horrendous
and expensive task, probably making it impossible, but I guess we can dream.
If I was "ept" enough, I might be able to burn my own CD or at least make a
tape, but I don't know how to do it from the VCR, or even if it can be done.
Well, as my grandmother used to say, "if wishes were horses, then beggars
would ride".
Have a great Mayberry day, folks!

Just wanted to say that I am in 100% agreement with Allan on the
"political" question. I had seen the ad with Andy before the election
and I did not feel right in writing to the digest with the info. That to
me had nothing to do with the show - I was even uncomfortale reading the
thoughts sent in by the members who found it necessary to talk about it.
Thanks Allan!!!

for them.
I Need some help in making more plates.
The next set will be Orange(The correct orange) with Black letters,
1. should they have a year on them (IE. 60, 61, 62 etc)?
( If they don't have a year on them, you could paint on whatever year you
wanted.)
2.what year would you most like to have?
Please e-mail me direct with answers ([EMAIL PROTECTED])
Thanks and Happy Motoring.

Here ya go. (This one makes me cry!)
Whatever Happened To Mayberry?
(Chorus)
Whatever happened to Mayberry,
Like the one they had on the TV,
With Andy, and Opie, And Barn' an' Aunt Bee,
Whatever happened to Mayberry?
Towns like that you just can't find,
On any ole map just any ole time,
Where friends help friends when they're in need,
Whatever happened to Mayberry?
(REPEAT CHORUS)
No town like that this day and time,
A Sherriff with no gun and there's no crime,
Where the jail's not locked you come and go as you please,
Whatever happened to Mayberry?
(REPEAT CHORUS)
The Darlin' boys would come to town,
Briscoe's jug would make bluegrass sounds,
"Back on the truck" when it's time to leave,
Whatever happened to Mayberry?
(REPEAT CHORUS)
Hey to Gomer get a bottle of pop,
Stop by Floyd's and get a little off the top,
Not a window was safe around ole Earnest T.,
Whatever happened to Mayberry?
(REPEAT CHORUS)
Whatever happened to Mayberry?
It's a place in our hearts they call Mayberry.
Of course, you know you can't sing this song without a tenor. My voice
teacher always said, "A Bluegrass song without a tenor is like a star
without its glimmer." You know who always said that? My voice teacher.

Doesn't "MEWlic" just sound like a Mayberry name?

A couple of things ...
First, thanks to Bart Boatwright for posting those pics from "The
Grinch". Really cool! I've got to wonder how the heck they could
breathe through that makeup though. It was really cool seeing Clint
Howard in makeup. He looked like a Who, and yet, still looked like
Leon. hmmmmm...
Second, I was in the eye doctor's office yesterday, and while waiting,
picked up a People magazine (I think it was this week's issue). Anyway,
what should I come across but an article about Joey Fann and his
Mayberry Bible Study series! It was a short article, but it was nothing
but complimentary, and it included the URL to the web site which
contains lesson plans for the Bible studies (http://www.barneyfife.com).
Third, I'm really sorry to hear that Laura Lee Hobbs (Debbie Dubose) is
doing poorly. I've always enjoyed her posts, and plan to drop her a
card and keep her in my prayers.

I was watching the episode where John Masters (choir
director)discovers that Gomer has a beautiful singing
voice. Mr. Masters then drafts Gomer to take Barney's
place doing the solo, which of course breaks Barney's
heart and also his voice teacher Miss Eleanora
Poultice. Mr. Masters tells Andy (before he finds
Gomer) that in a town the size of Mayberry with 2000
people that there has to be someone else that can sing
the solo better than Barney. I always wondered but
never knew how many people there were in Mayberry,
since I've only been a member of this website for
about two months. I have had three days off of work
due to meetings I don't have to attend, and it has
been my supreme pleasure to be able to watch two
episodes a day of TAGS. I hope my comments about the
population of Mayberry haven't been purposely obtuse,
I know Barney hates when we do that. I intend to hang
on to my place in the community!!!!! Anita

Does anybody remember ol' Ange doing commercials for Shoney's not too long
ago? Also, when I was a little feller I re-collect Andy doing A-1 steak sauce
commercials. A-1 and steak, I like it. And who forget that everything sits
better on a Ritz. Goooood cracker.
The boys sure are talkative today
