The scene in which Barney got gassed just before meeting the governor was my
favorite ever though...the sight of him putting on that silly hat with his
uniform and saying "Hiiiiiiiiiiii..." as he leans toward Andy...just that
simple little gag always slays me!

Paul et al;

I stand corrected on what Otis says his mouth feels like.
The Hebrew word for "repent" remains, "Shub" - pronounced -
shoob. So perhaps I'm still right.

As to singing - being the pastor of three small country
churches I know that you do with what you've got. Only
large places afford "music directors" - my ladies do it for
free! If there is a solo you get your Gomers to do it
because they are your best singers - not because they fit
the octive in the piece. My congregations are all about
the size of the Mayberry church - although they don't sit
nearly that close to each other! :-D

Larry from Alabama brings up an interesting observation about Floyd's
Barber Shop (the best clip joint in town)... The Hair Styles posted is
actually a WILDROOT Hair Tonic poster and if you look closely in some of
the other episodes you will see other WILDROOT posters with the
name/logo taped over.
This also reminds me of some of the posters around WALLY'S. If you look
close in some of the later episodes, you will see some SMOKEY BEAR fire
prevention posters.
I wonder if Floyd has the latest copy of Crab Monster comic in yet???

I enjoy all the reruns of the Andy Griffith shows, My son and i watch them
every single day of the week, and all the specials and anything that is on
about Andy Griffith and Barney. I don't think i have a special one, i Just
love them all the same. And barney is SOOOOO funny, "And you beat eveything
you know that" Is my favorite saying. Well see ya later, "Best of luck to you
and yours" Tell Aunt Bee, I said hey!!!

I don't have a number two, I have a four way tie for number one:
I Love Lucy, TAGS, Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley.

Two mayberry sightings, one old, one new:
Last night on TVLand's Adam-12, our own Helen Crump played Pete Malloy's
date. I'm not a regular viewer of Adam-12, so that may or may not be a
one-time sighting.
A while back, I noticed that the Siler City TV station on TAGS (WZAZ?)was
the same station used on a Happy Days episode. I guess that would classify
as a non-human sighting!

Hey everybody, I just watched TAGS where Opie got all A's by mistake and I
noticed something. When Barney was trying to resite the preamble, when they
showed close ups of Barney after his hair was mussed up, his hair was mussed
up, but when they would show a shot of both Andy and Barney from a distance
his hair was combed. They went back and forth with the shots and it was
funny to see his hair combed, then mussed up, then combed, then mussed up.

Hello everyone from Cheryl in Opelika, AL..

I saw a Gomer Pyle episode not long ago, one of the "fun girls" (Skippy)
was on it, she was Sergeant Carter's date and she had the same goofy laugh
and same personality.

I might be in the minority, but I always wanted Andy to get serious with
Peggy on TAGS. I liked her much better than Helen. Helen was alright, but
she was such a stuffed shirt. Peggy was a lot more fun loving, and ready
for just about anything. My favorite episode with Peg, was when she would
come around and cook for Andy and Opie. My second favorite Andy girlfriend
was Ellie, especially when Andy thought Ellie was trying to trap him into
marriage.

"No Opie, I'm on the track of a baboon!"

I really enjoy this list. I do not know a lot of the episode names, but I
too would watch TAGS 24/7 if it was on. TV Land has been showing color
episodes lately. I have seen a few color ones that I like, but the show lost
a lot of spirit when Barney left. Well IMHO, anyway.

Bye for now,
Cheryl

My #2 show is Matlock, followed closely by the Waltons. And, since this is a
TAGS board, don't forget that Ron Howard appeared in the Waltons, and there
are other similarities too. (Like the two moonshining sisters!!!)

 Subject: barber shop poster

In some of the barber shop scenes, Floyd has a poster on the wall that shows
several different styles of haircuts. What it is interesting to me, is that
in my hometown barber shop in Seminole, Oklahoma, our local barber had the
same poster up for years. I was wondering if any of you remember seeing that
poster in your barber shop from years gone by? >>

I think I saw this poster when I peeped in the barber shop window as a young
girl. I never saw a woman go in a barber shop when I was young and I
wouldn't have dared to go in no more than I would have entered a men's
rest-room. My husband always took our son to get a hair cut. To this day,
I feel uncomfortable going in an honest to goodness barber shop. It just
seems that it should be a male domain. To see a male in a beauty shop would
have been shocking. Many times, women would sit under the dryer in their
slip and would have squealed if a man came in. Does anyone else remember
these circumstances? There was no such thing as a uni-sex hair-styling
facility. Is nothing sacred anymore?

I haven't posted in a while so thought this would be a good time to. My 2nd
favorite show would have to be "Leave it to Beaver". When I saw Rodney's
letter about the "Waltons" I was gonna pick that for my 2nd favorite. We
mayberry minds think alike! Then later on I saw someone had picked "the
beaver" and i knew that was it! Unfortunately we can't get that show on our
cable..but I always loved it and laughed my head off every time I watched it.
But crissm was right about there being no comparison to "TAGS". Can you just
imagine what would happen if you put the Beaver and Barney together? That
would be a whole other show!

Imagine that...just imagine that...of all the nerve!!!

Have a very, merry, mayberry Christmas everyone!

Subject: Color TAGS on Nick at Night ???

Hello, friends! - You gotta help me out here .. First of all, know that
I don't have TVLand, so I am TAGS-poor.

Here's what happened: I set my VCR to record something on Nick at Night
last Saturday or Sunday morning. I set the wrong time, and recorded from
1:30-2:30 AM. Lo and behold, the 2:00-2:30 AM slot recorded a COLOR
EPISODE of TAGS that I had NEVER SEEN! There was general rejoicing, and
we were two very happy girls.

I'd love to make this "mistake" again, but the problem is that I looked
at the Nick at Night schedule on-line and saw that no such episode was
scheduled to show. So, why was it shown? I'm assuming that Nickelodeon
must randomly broadcast TAGS--is that true? Or, is their on-line
schedule wrong? I know that TAGS plays after "I Love Lucy" at 4:00 AM on
weekends, but this was a different timeslot.

Can anyone help me out here? There are a LOT of color episodes I've
never seen and I would love to be able to tape more of them.

Thanks for any help you can give. I hope you all had a Happy
Thanksgiving and are safe and warm these very cold days. (Well, cold up
here in New England, at least.)

Karen & Marley B.
