I never saw Francis Bavier (Aunt Bee) in anything, before or after TAGS,
until a couple of weeks ago. I was watching "The Day The Earth Stood
Still," and low and behold, there she was. She looked slightly younger
too. Love to know if she was in any other movies or T.V. shows. I wish
"Biography" would do an episode on her.
By the way, my second favorite T.V. show is The Dick Van Dyke Show. Can't
get enough of it (or TAGS).

Hi there!! I haven't posted in a while but aside from tags my 2nd fav. show
is gomer pyle usmc!!! How can it not be!! It has carry over appearances and
everything!! 'Tis the season for Frosty the Snowman and I haven't seen the
winter wonderland episode starring our beloved Andy since 1976.
For some unknown reason it isn't aired here in Canada anymore! At least not
in Ontario and its a shame because its the true sequel to the first one!!!
not the john goodman episode as everyone else thinks. The cartoon likeness of
Andy Griffith is awesome and if anyone out there would be willing to tape it
for me in SP speed with (or without) commercials, would be just as kind as
Andy himself!!! I'd gladly send a money order for the tape!!! Please email
me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and let me know. Thanks a million! KEITH

Does any one know where or if I can purchase
copies of many B&W Ange? I have attempted to
tape the marathons on TBS, but they always seem
to come on during my season (I am a basketball
coach) and I can't stay with it. In my short
affiliation with this group, I am amazed at
all the common interest I share with other
members. What new reruns do we like? Drew Carey
maybe? What older music? Decade? Movies?

TAGS fans,
My second favorite show is "Maverick" (the orginal one from the 50s).
It was so well written. And almost every episode has at least one TAGS
alumni (though, since Maverick came first, I guess they are "Maverick"
alumni when they appear on TAGS). There's even one episode that has the
first two Ben Weaver's together. Having read all everything I can find
about both shows, it has struck me that James Garner and Andy Griffith
share some traits. They are both very giving people, especially to their
friends and co-stars. And people who have worked with them look back on
that as one of the best times of their lives.

Please elaborate about Ron Howard being on the Waltons. I don't remember
this and want to look for it. What character did he play? Was it a B/W
or color episode?

Yes, I remember honest-to-goodness barber shops and beauty shops. My
mother told us girls it was not proper to enter the former and my Daddy
wouldn't have been caught dead in the latter. I abhor this current
practice as my hairdresser is in a unisex shop too. PTL not too many
gentlemen enter but even the occasional one throws me into a tizzy!

Hey all,

I watched quite a few of the Adam-12 episodes during
the Marathon on TVLand about a month ago. I saw Helen
in several more of them too. She must have been
somewhat of a semi-regular. She was a nurse and had a
young son (about 12 yrs old, I think). Also, did
anyone catch Andy (actually Andy's caricature) on Fox
Family's showing of the Return of Frosty the Snowman?
My kids even knew it was Andy (well, it helped that he
looked just like Andy! =:D Mayberrians do so get
around!

>>>This also reminds me of some of the posters around WALLY'S. If you look
close in some of the later episodes, you will see some SMOKEY BEAR fire
prevention posters.
Jack in Iowa (wish I had some hair to cut....)
>>>

Smokey Bear posters can also be seen on the courthouse bulletin board once
in a while.

I always enjoy trying to identify the various brands that "aren't"
advertised on TAGS. For example, the soda cooler in front of Wally's is
actually a Pepsi cooler with the word "Pepsi" painted out.

For a long time, I wondered what product was advertised on Wally's outdoor
thermometer. It's one of those large porcelain / metal ones with the words
"TREAT YOURSELF TO THE BEST..." and the rest is painted out. This same
thermometer can be seen on other Mayberry buildings in various episodes, for
example Dave's Coffee Shop in "Barney Gets His Man."

Anyway, I did come across one of these thermometers about a month ago, and I
was able to determine what product was advertised. Anybody want to take a
guess?

P.S. Jack, Floyd has some tonic that's guaranteed to grow hair over your

Nick at Nite doesn't seem to have a set schedule anymore, it seems to change
every night! It's driving me nuts because I can't set my VCR to tape my
favorite shows. Your best bet is to follow what your TV guide says and hope
it's right.

Greetings fellow Mayberrians,
Recently saw a episodeof M*A*S*H with George and this one line caught me and
had me laughing so hard I had tears rolling
"Well shut my mouth tie my body to an ant farm and smear my body with jelly"
if you can imagine him saying that using his southern accent. Also caught a
few minutes of a Twilight Zone and none other than our Ernest T. Bass was
president not quite sure of how he got there but I find it sometimes
difficult seeing TAGS members doing different characters than they do on TAGS.

Jean Carson (Daphne the other Fun Girl/Naomi the convict) was also in an
episode of Gomer Pyle. It is the one where Gomer feels sorry for Sgt. Carter
not getting any love letters, so he sends Sarge one anonymously and Sarge is
trying to find the alleged sender. Jean is one of the suspects, a waitress
in a diner.

Linda, We must be about the same age. I too remember when females were not
comfortable entering a barber shop. My parents had an argument once because
my sister and I wanted the new DA haircut that was the rage. My father
refused to take us to his barber and my mothers hair stylist didn't know how
to do the new cut. My father lost the argument and my sister and I got to go
into the barber shop. The feeling was as if my father had brought his two
little girls into a saloon. The men were uncomfortable and we were hustled
out of the shop before the hair hit the floor. I think you are correct in
assuming that the barber shop was strictly a mans domain they could
act, talkand generally behave like males without the fear of offending a lady.
Remember the TAGS about the manicurist who gets a job at Floyd's. The men
were besides themselves, they weren't sure how to behave having a woman in
their barber shop. Barb

I must agree with Cheryl W about Peggy & Helen. NOBODY could shoot a dirty look
like Helen! Boy, what a face she could put on! And when she was mad, she
played
it cold & stiff: if Andy couldn't tell something was wrong when she denied
it...well,
puleeze! Peggy was easy going, had some money and nice looking to boot!

Favourite program after TAGS? It has to be the Dick Van Dyke show and M*A*S*H.
Connection? DVD producer Sheldon Leonard and M*A*S*H: writers Greenbaum and
Fritzell (sp). Same great stories!

I am a hospitality trainer by trade and when rolling out the Rules of Training,
guess what's number one? OBEY ALL RULES!

Every member of WBMUTBB can very proud of now being at the highest level of
financial support for The Surry Arts Council. Our internet chapter has made
it to the Guarantors Level at the top listing of their supporters. Many
thanks to those of you who helped and contributed to the Mayberry Days 2000
Silent Auction. SAC really appreciates your efforts and the money raised
goes to many different programs, including Mayberry Days.

It is very early to talk Mayberry Days 2001, but I saw the ticket chart and
they have already sold almost 1/2 the tickets for both Doug Dillard's 7pm
concert and Colonel Tim's on Saturday night. Information is on their
website at www.surryarts.org if you want to purchase them now. It's BIG!

Hi everyone in Mayberry
I'm working on a screensaver for our small NC town. I need a photo of a
Mayberry Squad car just after a snow. If anyone has such a photo just e-mail
it to me and when I get this done I will send it to Allen and if he approves
it maybe he will put it on the web.

Thanks
