i always thought barney's name was Barnard P. Fife....well, i heard a trivia
question on a radio broadcast which ask "what was barney's middle
name?"...the caller who answered correctly said a name which started with an
M ( i'm sorry i forgot the exact name but it definitely did not begin with a
P)....so why did i think his middle initial was a P ?

Hey Folks, if any of ya'll were watching the Twilight
Zone marathon, tell me if you heard what I heard in an
episode called "The trouble with Mr. Templeton", it
was about an actor and a man introduced Mr. Templeton
to another man who was the producer of a play, I am
sure he called the producer Harv Bullock , no one ever
said the name again, but I am sure that is what he
said. Also in another episode, George Lindsey played a
deputy sherrif, but he was mean, it was hard to watch
Goober being mean. There have been many TAGS folks in
the Zone, it has been fun to look for them

Just watched Abbott and Costello meet Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolf Man,
and low and behold who inported the monsters, none other than Frank Ferguson
(Charlie Foley
from episode 152 The case of the punch in the nose)
and he got mad and punched poor old Costello, couldn't tell if it was in the
nose, but I'm sure
that was where he was aiming.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all my Mayberry neighbors! A warm welcome and a hot
peach pie to all the newbies! and a special thanks to everyone who
personally e-mailed me with comments on my Christmas story about
Bobbie's coat. Ain't ya kind, ain't ya kind!!

Our local station, Action 27 ran an And marathon today! Me and elvisfife
spent the day cuddling in bed watching tv and snacking all day! The
weather here has been unusually cold so we couldn't think of a better
way to start off the New Year!

LauraLee Hobbs...Welcome Back!!!! The dime store hasn't been the same
without ya! Folks have been digging their fingernails into the
chocolates looking for 'pinkies', old ladies have been clanking (and old
ladies oughten not to ever clank!) and Gomer's been having trouble
finding the ties with the acorns on 'em! We have desperately missed ya!
Glad yer on the mend!

Well, I saw my favorite episode "Only a Rose" last night for the
umpteenth time and swore I wouldn't cry but I did. That kind of
self-sacrificing friendship just overwhelms me and moves me to tears
every time! Another fact that just warms my heart is reading about all
you new members who are youngsters. Whenever I start to worry about what
this world is coming to, I pause and remember there are decent young
folks right here in our Mayberry family and it helps me to cope. Kindest
regards to all our neighbors, Aunt Bee of Orlando

Subject: Andy's job

>>> I have a question regarding TAGS. Is Andy the Sheriff of the town of
Mayberry or is he the Sheriff of Mayberry County, NC, of which the town of
Mayberry is the County Seat. There are things said in some episodes which
make me think the latter is correct. If so, what other towns are in
Mayberry County, and are there any episodes in which Andy exercises his
jurisdiction in these other towns?

Just wondering
Mike K.
>>>

Andy is Sheriff of Mayberry County, NC. He is also in charge of the
township of Mayberry (since it lies entirely within Mayberry County and has
no police force of its own) but his paycheck comes from the county, not the
town (see "Aunt Bee the Crusader").

Dozens of other small towns are mentioned in various episodes (Bannertown,
Triplett, Fancy Gap, Toast, Centerville, Ruby Creek, etc.) but we don't know
for sure if they're supposed to be in Mayberry County, or some other nearby
county. BTW, many of the towns mentioned on the show are real towns near
Mt. Airy. Other towns held special significance to the writers, who worked
the names into the scripts as a way of saying "hey" to the folks back home.

Anyway, to get back to the question, we often see Andy solve problems in
rural areas of the county, but we don't ever see him exercise his authority
in any town other than Mayberry, unless you count the arrest of Hubcaps
Lesch and her gang, but we don't know for sure where that arrest took place
(she SAYS she's from Mt. Pilot, but we know how dishonest she is).

Hey folks! Got my new Mayberry Memories book for my birthday yesterday! My
wife gave me that and a book titled A Charlie Brown Christmas (I just love
that show!). The Mayberry book is great! Couldn't put it down last night!

As far as the TAGS Marathon on Superbowl Sunday, I thought about pulling out
a tape from one of the years past on TBS. I usually take the time to cut all
commercials out of my tapes but I have a couple of these marathons that I
never edited. Thus, it may seem like old times if we put one of those tapes
in and let it play all day (of course it took about 4 tapes to get the whole
marathon on there).

Hello to all my Mayberry friends!...and welcome to all the new members.
Hope everyone had a great holiday season.
I haven't posted in a while because my husband and I went out of town the day
after Christmas and just got back yesterday. I have missed the Digest
terribly! I think my wishlist is gonna include a lap top computer so I don't
have to miss out when I'm gone.
I noticed that someone wrote in about Ben Weaver singing with Miss Ellie in
the Christmas episode. This got me to thankin'...reckon why John Masters
never thought of asking old Ben to join the choir? Seems to me that Mr.
Weaver had a lot of talent in that department and would probably have been an
asset to the group. Of course, imagine the episode where Barn joins the choir
if Ben were a member. I can just hear old Ben now..."Sheriff, this has got to
stop...now are you gonna do something about it?"...or maybe... "Sheriff,
evict him!"
Hope you all have many Mayberry days in the new year!

Hey Folks,

I got an email from a Dillards Fan this morning, asking if I knew where she
could order a copy of The Dillards "A Night In The Ozarks" video. I sent
her the Weaver's Dept Store address as one place to check, but was
wondering if ya'll might have any additional sources. Marti said she talked
to Rodney recently in Branson, and he thought they were pretty much sold
out.

Happy New Year.

Thanks,

I am a big fan of musicals, just wanted to note for
other devotees, Ruta Lee is one of the brides in Seven
Brides for Seven Brothers. She played Darlene Mason
(Hollywood trip) and also Jean Boswell the young
reporter digging up dirt on Andy.

Subject: "A Wife for Andy"

Hello everyone!
I just watched the episode, "A Wife for Andy" and I noticed something again
that I have noticed every time I've watched it. After Barney sends in the
first group of women for Andy to "look over", (this one's out, this one's a
maybe, this one's good), he tells Andy that if he doesn't see anything he
likes he'll send in another batch the next night. When he sends in the second
batch, it's the same girls. Reckon they were all "maybes"?? Anyway, another
thing in this episode that seems funny to me is that NONE of the girls gives
Ange a second look once they get in the door. Heck, he can't even get their
attention! (There was one woman who came in the door kind of touching up her
hair while glancing at him but that was about it.)
And finally, here's a question for the resident Mayberry genius, Paul Mulick.
Is one of the girls in that group the same woman who played Almonzo's sister,
the school teacher on "Little House on the Prarie"? And if so, do I get
brownie points or something for noticing? One can never have too many brownie
points, you know.

Subject: Everyday TAGS stuff

Happy New Year to you and yours,
Here's another incident of TAGS coming up in everyday
life... I was making a trash run the other day in my
78 Dodge panel van (318 Three speed on the
column)...It's nice It's real nice. But anyway I was
telling my kids that my ol' van runs on gas oil and
prayer and then almost subconsciously I said and
"Water and Air are free."
I got me a brand new DVD player for Christmas, now I
need me some TAGS DVD's. I now this has been brought
up before so I apologize but could someone direct me
to some good TAGS DVD's I checked Weaver's but all I
could find was VHS.
              Thanks and God Bless,
                                Mike Z.
