For the gentlemen wanting to know about the song Barney Fife Boogie. I
have it. it was a special Collector's Edition preformed by The
Hoolapoppers, it features 2 songs on it. The "Barney Fife Boogie and the
Barney Fife Ballad", I bought this a couple years ago at Mayberry Days,
they were at the playhouse performing these songs and had the CD's or tapes
for sale. I have them on CD, check with the specialty shop and Dickerson's
in Mt. Airy at one time I seen them in their stores. The lead vocal is
George Dare and the
voice of Barney Fife is Sharry Han. this is a 1999 Release. if you have
no luck finding it e-mail me.
Thanks, Kathy Taylor

I've noticed that the Disney movies that Don Knotts were in have been shown
at 1:00 a.m. central time on the Disney Channel.  Some I've seen are Gus;
No Deposit No Return, & The Apple Dumpling Gang.

The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again will be on at 1:00 a.m. central time on
Sunday, 1/21/01, for anyone who is interested in recording it. Of course,
Tim Conway & Don Knotts star in it.

If'n I recall correctly, Mr. Sunkel was not amused and threatened a
lawsuit. I don't know if he followed through or not.

I don't recall what those songs are (thinking maybe "Wait for the
Wagon" might have been one). But, Ernest T. offered to sing one from
that era ("Eatin' Goober Peas").

My favorite song that Otis sang was in "Hot Rod Otis" when he joined in
to sing "The Vacant Chair" with Andy & Barney. It isn't only a nice song
but their harmony was so good.

Whenever the "Mayberry Squad Car Rendevous" came to Troy, Ohio my husband
and I would take our family and attend with another couple and their
daughter who are also great TAGS fans. Imagine our dismay when we found
they were going to move away. My husband and this man are both deacons
at our church. So, at the last deacon meeting he was going to be
attending, my husband and another deacon got up and sang "The Vacant
Chair" to our good friend. What a tribute to our friend. It brings a
tear to my eye whenever I think about it. Only true TAGS fans could
appreciate this!

seasoning...that's what i think it is and it's cooked for a lot of people

Howdy beloved,
Greetings from our porch to yers. Glad to drop a line, as I've been under
the weather a spell and haven't had the chance to do any readin lately.
Whilst under the care of the cutest home nurse on earth (wife o' fatman) I
saw an episode where Andy & Aunt Bea hosted a young lady who was on the
"outs" with her hubby (seem to recall her callin him "Frank"), I am sure ye
(I use ye now and again to keep from the repetiton of yall's), some of ye
know the episode by name. However, the part that surprised me was
Hellen...not that she was ...shall we say jes a tad on the jealous side...but
she uttered (fightin myself really hard not to say uddered, snicker) that
phrase what could only be described in Mayberry as talkin ugly.....and of
course I mean, by that, the phrase "THIRD PARTY".....I woulda never thunk it,
specially from Hellen....imagine that...'course she coulda been stressed out,
mebbie that new kid Arnold Winkler gave her a time in class or some such
thing...just seemed such a hoot to hear HER utter to ANDY...."third
party"....oh, and one other blessin of having to watch a lot of TV, saw "No
Time for Seargants" again, and had forgot what a hoot it was.....seeing Don
Knotts and Andy showing all of that talent...well it lead to a speedy
recovery, I'll tell ya. Now yall go off and find yerself a good day, now,
hear?
Well wishes and happy thoughts

He did, indeed, appear briefly as a military psychiatrist whose patience is
severely tested by Will (Andy). I believe this is the first time the two
ever worked together in front of a camera, and the magic is there right from
the very beginning...

If i remember correctly the seating arrangement in Barney's new car started
out to be "Aunt Bee you sit in the back seat behind the driver, Gomer you
sit next to Aunt Bea and Opie you sit next to Gomer. Now that takes care of
the back seat. Now in the front seat. "I'll drive, Thelma Lou you sit next
to the driver and Ange you sit next to Thelma Lou and that takes care of
the front seat.
(Gomer) "I sure hope I don't get car sick" ( Barney) "Opie you and Gomer
trade places." Making the back seat Opie in the middle, Gomer on the
passenger side door and Aunt Bea behind the driver.

Hey Everybody,

I just got through seeing a Dukes of Hazzard rerun and I saw the man who
played Mayor Stoner on TAGS. He was a doctor on this particular episode and
of course Uncle Jesse was Briscoe Darling on TAGS also.

Lots of Luck to you and yours and Goober says hey,

I was watching the episode today where Barney is so
terribly shy around Thelma Lou, it's comical,
comparing the way he was a Casanova later. She has
the saddest expression on her face when they get to
her house after a double date with Andy and Ellie, and
he can only talk about guns instead of how he really
feels about her. When Andy tries to help out it
becomes hilarious as Thelma Lou tries to make Barney
jealous by saying that Andy "came calling" on her.
When it all backfires and Andy calls her bluff his
acting is a scream as he tries to make her think he is
really wanting her to be his girl. Remember Thelma
Lou............"YOUR THE CATS!!!!!!!

Regarding V3 #22 The question about the "boiled
dinner" My family in Mississippi would tell you that a
"boiled dinner", was a "chitlin dinner" cause they eat
chitlin's boiled as well as fried.

"Was Don Knotts in the broadway version of No time for

Don Knotts was in both the broadway production and in the later film
version of "No Time for Sergeants" in the small role of an army
psychologist. In the broadway production, he also played the role of the
preacher who introduces Andy's character at the start of the play, and he
understudied for two other roles. One of these roles was the part of
Andy's father, which he had to assume for about a week after the elderly
man who originally played it died. Needless to say, Don had to wear a
lot of makeup for that part! (There was also a TV version of the show,
but I believe that was before the broadway version, and Don wasn't in
it.)

In South Carolina, particulary in the Beaufort area, they have a boiled
dinner called Frogmore Stew. Maybe somebody from down that way can help me
out, but if I recall correctly, it has Shrimp, Corn on the Cob, Sausage,
Onions. Seems like I am leaving something out but it has been too many
years (about 8) since I had Frogmore Stew.

Barney was indeed in the movie, he played the part of the corporal who gave
Will Stockdale his "Manual Dexterity" classification exam. He also played
the same part in the play. Also, as is common in plays, he had a double
role. He played a preacher that appears in the very first of the play. By
the way, for all you West Tennesseeans, or those willing to travel, Ira
Levin's "No Time For Sergeants" will be performed by the Community Arts
Foundation of Weakley County on April 28, 2001. I believe you'll all be
proud to know that a WBMUTBB member will be portraying Andy's part of Will
Stockdale.

Incidentally, do you know the man who played the psychiatrist in the play
and movie (James Millhollin), also was on an episode of TAGS (Aunt Bee Takes
A Job as Howard Finch) Mr. Millhollin was also in The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

The plane co-pilot (as mentioned in a question I posed last week) was Jamie
Farr, a.k.a the gypsy (or Grecos, his name), who by the way was also on a
Gomer Pyle episode.

Mr. McKinney, the draft board man in the movie, was in several episodes of
TAGS: Billy Ray Talbott postman in The Guitar Player, Ben Beecham in
Emmett's Brother-in-Law, the preacher in Mountain Wedding, Billy Ray the
postman in High Noon In Mayberry.

Malcolm Atterbury, the man carrying the applications in the movie, was Luke
Jenson in The Cow Thief.

Finally, Ben Whitledge was portrayed in the play by Roddy McDowall, better
known to most for his roles on The Planet Of The Apes.
