I think Don Knotts and Andy Griffith first met in the stage play of "No Time
for Sergeants" and then they were in the movie together.

The easiest way that I've found to watch the color episodes in
B&W was the way we did in the 'old days'. Watch them on a B&W
television set!!!

I could be wrong (often am) but I think it was the same actor who played Asa,
the security guard at the bank, in the role of Gus the Fireman on "Leave It
To Beaver", that you're thinking about. Beaver used to go visit Gus at the
firehouse.

Hey You All!!

Love the Andy show Three Wishes for Opie. Barney thinks he is a real fortune
teller with his lamp he and Gomer got at the police auction in Mt. Pilot. It
was too funny when Gomer, Barney and Floyd are alone in the jail at night and
Andy comes in and puts the fingerprint kit Barney had ordered six months ago,
on the desk.

Well ol Barney comes out and goes all pieces as he thinks that the Count in
the lamp gave him the kit. Love that one. I hope it is shown sometime soon
on TV Land. Love the black and whites. Seems like all that is shown lately
are the colored series. Love them all but the black and white still rule..

According to Mr. Knotts, he also played the part of Will Stockdale's father
in the Broadway production of "No Time For Sergeants".

Mr. Knotts said he called the Stage Manager one day to report that he had the
flu and would not be able to make the performance. The Stage Manager told Mr.
Knotts that he was doing better than Floyd Buckley, the actor who portrayed
Will's father, because he had died earlier that morning. Since Mr. Knotts was
the understudy for that part, he played Will's Pa for about a week.

I believe that you may be splicing "Leave it to Beaver" together with "The
Andy Griffith Show",
Although not a bad combination,
(Burt Mustin) played Burt and a couple other character names in TAGS and he
was Gus the fireman
on LITB, but it was the Beav and Larry Mondelo that visited him at the fire
station.
And someone else played ASA the guard at the bank.

We sure get edjedcated on his here site. I never would have known what a
boiled dinner was. I just figured it was what we always had on Saint
Patrick's day, good ole corn beef & cabbage & new potatos. Now, I'm
really a Heinz variety mixture of English, German & of course Irish
decent, but it wouldn't be St. Patricks day without that boiled corn
beef dinner. Guess the real Aunt Bee would hve known what it really was,
her being such a good cook and all.

I believe you are thinking of "leave it to Beaver"
Beaver use to visit the fire station and talk to Gus
the fireman, who was played by Ole Judd, the night
watchman from TAGS. I don't recall Opie every visiting
a firestation, in color or b&w.

Saw an old Jerry Lewis movie over the weekend title "It's Just Money" or
something like that, I didn't get to see the whole thing. Anyway the
villain (if you can have a villain in a Jerry Lewis movie) had a very
distinctive voice which I finally realized belonged to none other than
Gentleman Dan Caulfield.

You're mixing up two different shows here; Gus was the fireman on Leave it
to Beaver. I'm not an expert on that show, but I thought he was played by
Burt Mustin (Mayberry's Judd, et al). The Mayberry guard you're thinking of
Asa, played by Charles Thompson.
