While watching "Aunt Bea's Invisible Beau", I noticed Andy holding a folded
newspaper when Aunt Bea tells him that she has a date with Mr. Hendricks, the
butter and egg man. The name showing on the paper is the "Airy News", which I
assume to be part of the real life newspaper, "The Mt. Airy News". Now, I
know that Mt. Airy, Andy Griffith's hometown, was the basis for Mayberry, but
was Mt. Airy ever actually mentioned on TAGS?

He might have been "sick as a dog", but I bet he was "havin' the time of his
life".

Actually Barn it was not Sir Lancelot, it was Goober. And I think he used a
sling instead of a slingshot.
Sorry, quickly have to harp on the color episodes again. I watched the
Barney and Movie Star episode and it is so uncomfortably clear that the
chemistry between Griffith and Knots could not be resurrected. While their
interaction is an extremely realistic portrayal of two old fiends seeing each
other after a long absence, it is not the type of interaction we crave for
when we go to Mayberry.

Didn't Asa also play the doctor in the episode about Barney trying to pass the
physical test and the doctor had him put his head in the harness?

TAGS fans,
I have collected most of the Mayberry-related strips from my comic
strip "Cottage & CO" together and put them on the web. To view them, go to
http://www.burtcottage.com/Sams_Place/index.html and click on the button
"By Topic". From there, you'll find links to my Barney Fife cartoons, my
Mayberry in general cartoons and my "Mayberry Meets Star Trek" cartoons
that ran in the Bullet a few years back.

The Blue Willow pattern is still very available but perhaps
not through retail merchants.
If you can't find it and want it I suggest you go to a
local restaurant supply dealer - like Sysco or Sexton.
They should be able to order through their suppliers but
they'll probably want you to order a 6-8 piece setting to
make it "worth" thier time. They sell to restaurants who
buy cases of dishes at a time.
It's been a while, I can't remember which dinnerware
manufacturer makes it. If you have a restaurant supplier
who is a smaller dealer they may carry it in stock.
Just FYI,
Rev. Joe
ps- I was in sales - 6 years ago- (sold to people like
Sysco) prior to going into the Ministry.

Re: The post of the actors in No Time for Sargents. I love that movie but do
not recall Roddy McDowell as Ben Whitledge. It's been awhile since I've seen
it so I could be wrong, but personally I never cared for McDowell as an
actor and just think I would remember him if it was since Whitledge was one
of the main characters. Put those buckets on your heads and let me know what
you think. Lots of Luck to you and your. Cathy a.k.a Skippy one of

Ok, I give. Gus the fireman was on Leave It to Beaver, but in the episode
where Barney gets the motorcycle, the same guy played one of the cronies
outside the courthouse making fun of Barney.

I was watching "Andy's Trip to Raleigh" last night, and if you want to see
something funny, have the color on when Andy puts on that lady lawyer's pink (or
maybe red) sunglasses. He looked so funny! I just rolled with laughter! I
haven't tried watching the color episodes in b&w yet, but the sight of Andy in
those glasses was great in color!

Well RoMEEna, I couldn't get to it neither, 'til I put ".html" on the end
of the line there. So the whole thing should look like:
http://www.geocities.com/mr_schwump/darlings.html
Try that out! Hey, Mr. Schwump, can you get to the page the way you typed
it in up there? Just wonderin' if me and RoMEEna got a different browser
or somethin'. Thanks.

Subject: Barney's Driving Record
With all the guessin' about what all kinds'a vehicles Barney drove (and it
was a g-o-o-o-o-o-d question, Paul!), I'm surprised nobody mentioned the
station wagon that Barn drove ol' Malloy and his girlfriend back to town
in! You remember...
First, Andy and ol' Barn found Malloy and his girlfriend with their
station wagon and travel trailer in the Half-Moon Trailer Park holdin'
onto Horton (they had him trussed up like a hog in that trailer).
THEN, ol' Barn, by sheer force of will (he's wirey, but not that strong)
prevented Malloy's girlfriend from driving off by crouchin' in front of
that car and holdin' it back!!!
FINALLY, when Malloy's girl went back to the trailer to grab the
cigarettes, ol' Barn took the bull by the horns and hopped in that car,
drivin' like a madman back to town! Andy followed close behind in the
squad car, and they captured Malloy and his girlfriend!
I'll see ya.

Subject: Beck & Clark books
I received both The Andy Griffith Show Book and Mayberry Memories for
Christmas. I loved reading TAGSB and learning some things that only nuts
like us think (know) are important.
As far as Mayberry Memories, I must say I had a hard time enjoying all
of it. Why? Because it shows some "behind the scenes" pictures. Sure,
the quality of the pictures are great but it serves as a reminder that
the show was not real. For instance, look at the picture on page 7 where
Andy and Opie are filming the opening scene. Opie is bending down to
pick up the rock to throw in Myers Lake and you can see at least 16
other people as well as some filming equipment. For 30 years I thought
that was videotape of a father walking with his son down to the local
fishing hole. How about the picture on page 23? I thought the local TV
station (WASG, perhaps) just happened to catch that on tape.
Now that I've realized that the show wasn't real, can anyone direct me
with the aerial photo on page 44? I think I can spot the Floyds
Barbershop and the Courthouse, but want to know if I am looking at it
correctly. (Take the main road up from the bottom and these two places
are on the right)
These are GREAT books. If you donut have either of them, get them. NOW!
