That episode has got to be in my top 5 favorites. I like the part when Andy
says a ratio is a half a boy and Opie looks at him and says he's never seen
a half a boy. I fall on the floor laughing every time I see that. I believe
the name of that episode is "Opie's Charity" or something like that.
Also, I know this is off the subject but, it appears from Hollie's E-Mail
address the she too is a Big Orange and a Peyton fan. Great to have you

him,

I have been an Andy Griffith Show fan for many years and love to watch the
old black and white episodes. There is one thing about Andy Griffith that I
have noticed that bothers me about the later episodes, especially the ones
without Don Knots in them. In the earlier episodes, Andy is laughing and
smiling all the time and is always happy. In the later episodes he is very
serious most of the time and acts depressed really. All the southern accent
is gone as well. Has anyone else noticed this?

Hey, as far as I know, there are only 2, and you mentioned them. You said
you had three, but I think you only mentioned 2. :)
But anyway, that is probably one of the main things I'm glad they dropped in
the show. I just think that would have been terrible if you were constantly
thinking of them as "relatives". The chemistry between them just as friends
works so good.
Well, I'm off to class...
lots of luck to you and yours

Hey everybody. Isn't it great to be watching the B/W episodes on TV Land
again! Anyway watching the first few episodes it looks like to me that the
courthouse doors are either brown or black, more dark than in the future
episodes. Did anybody else notice that? On a side note, I frequent eBay
and I got 2 great DVD'S. The first was The Best Of The Andy Griffith Show
and the second was The Best Of Barney. Each one had 8 episodes with special
stuff like Mayberry music, art gallery, recipes, tibits, and pop quizes. I
got this 2 pack for only $15 + $3 shipping. That's only a little over a
buck per episode and on DVD it should last. Sounds like a good deal to me.
"Andy, how much is this?
Oh, about $3.00
What is it?
If I knew that, it would be $5.00
Sounds like a good deal to me, I'll take it
Yea, that would be nice to have
I always wanted one of these.

I got an autograph from him about 6 months ago. It hangs, framed, on my
wall right next to another couple of TAGS pictures.

My boyfriend also has one, which he counts as one of his most prized

You got them all, Mark! Those were from episodes 1, 2, and 4. Neither of
them mentioned being cousins again after that.

I was just wondering in any of my fellow mayberrians, could remember how
many times barney or andy refered to each other as cousin, i can only think
of 3....
>>>
You're exactly right. The three episodes are "The New Housekeeper," "The
Manhunt," and "Runaway Kid." All are from very early in the first season;
their relationship was never mentioned later.
They might be distant cousins, but if they are FIRST cousins, then Andy's
mother must be the sister of Barney's father. I know, I know, and I figured
it out by simple logic. Let's look at the four possibilities:
A: Andy's father is the brother of Barney's father
2: Andy's father is the brother of Barney's mother
C: Andy's mother is the sister of Barney's father
IV: Andy's mother is the sister of Barney's mother
First Clue: Barney often refers to his "mother's side of the family," as if
Andy does not know any of them. For example, Barney's Cousin Virgil is from
his mother's side (Virgil is not Andy's cousin). So, we can rule out 2 and
IV.
Second Clue: Their fathers could not have been brothers, or Andy and Barney
would have the same last name. This rules out A, leaving C as the only
possible answer. In the words of Sherlock Holmes, once you have eliminated
the impossible, then whatever remains, however improbably, must be the
truth.
Third Clue: We learn in "Aunt Bee's Invisible Beau" that Aunt Bee is not
Barney's aunt (he just calls her "Aunt Bee" out of affection, like almost
everybody else in town who is younger than she). Aunt Bee must be related
to Andy's father (not his mother) or her last name wouldn't be Taylor. This
is further evidence that Andy's mother must be involved.
I'm taking this bucket off now!

Hi Y'all;
Terri Garr made a very fast cameo as the driver of a car at Goober's filling
station. He asks her if she wants to go to the party and she makes a face
and drives off, very quick scene. I didn't see it recently on TVL and it
may have been cut.
Take Care everyone.

Actually, the episode in which they get married is on Mayberry RFD, not on The
Andy Griffith Show. I've seen it, but I don't have it on tape. I would like
to see it so I could tape it. Maybe
they'll play it for the next TAGS marathon?!?

A friend of mine says that the opening song changes at some point during

changes from one octave to another. Can anyone verify this?

Subject: "The Sermon for Today"
Hello All.
I was just watching the episode entitled "The Sermon for Today" and I noticed
some things that I have been noticing for a long time and thought I'd share.
First of all, when Aunt Bee is on the phone with Clara before they all leave
to go to church, Andy is standing there beside her and he is writing
something. I always just assumed he was writing a check for the Sunday
contribution. Could it have been anything else?
Next, when the congregation is singing the hymn before the sermon, Barney
doesn't seem to be the only member who forgot the words!!
Then, when the preacher gets up to give his lesson, he says something like "I
was sitting here wondering what message I could bring to these good people".
The fact is, someone had already planned ahead because the sign out front
states clearly the title of the lesson., "What's Your Hurry?".
This one has always jumped out at me: When Andy and Barney are getting ready
to run down to the drug store to get some ice cream for later, Aunt Bee just
chews them out. I laugh just thinking about it now. Anyway, they don't seem
to be in such a big hurry to me. They were just walking across the porch.
Then when poor Gomer comes up and says he's going over to watch cousin Goober
wash his car, HE gets chewed out by Andy..."sit down Gomer". The whole porch
scene up to that point just cracks me up 'cause nobody on that whole episode
seemed in a hurry to do anything! (Except poor Opie who was tired of being a
tailor's dummy...great play on words there.)
This is a wonderful episode and very funny. Sure is nice to have you fine
folks to share it with.
Thanks!

Sorry I missed Andy on the Family Law show. Did catch bits and pieces of
Dawson's Creek. Due to the content of that particular show we watched
something else and would remote to Dawson's during the commercials, hoping
to catch a glimpse of Andy. We did. He didn't seem too frail - I know
some of the members were wondering if he really is frail or just good
acting. Maybe a little of both. Hope in the future the Family Law show
will be rerun and I can catch it then. Sure do enjoy reading all the
"news" at home in Mayberry every night.
