Subject: Courthouse Doors

Hey everybody. Isn't it great to be watching the B/W episodes on TV Land
again! Anyway watching the first few episodes it looks like to me that the
courthouse doors are either brown or black, more dark than in the future
episodes. Did anybody else notice that? On a side note, I frequent eBay
and I got 2 great DVD'S. The first was The Best Of The Andy Griffith Show
and the second was The Best Of Barney. Each one had 8 episodes with special
stuff like Mayberry music, art gallery, recipes, tibits, and pop quizes. I
got this 2 pack for only $15 + $3 shipping. That's only a little over a
buck per episode and on DVD it should last. Sounds like a good deal to me.

"Andy, how much is this?
Oh, about $3.00
What is it?
If I knew that, it would be $5.00
Sounds like a good deal to me, I'll take it
Yea, that would be nice to have
I always wanted one of these.

Don't you remember? Newton Monroe painted the doors to the
courthouse.......He's ept!!!

Subject: GREAT TAGS BOOK

Hey gang,
I just wanted to let yall know, if you've not checked out the new "Andy
Griffith Memories" photography coffee table book. Its fantastic. Its got
some GREAT photographs from behind the scenes (including an AWESOME arial
view of the mayberry). Its got great stills just from the episodes also.
Plus, it goes into great detail about every single season, including who
directed what, who produced what, what new characters emgerged (course we
know that already..ha ha), and just a lot of other great tid bits.
I would HIGHLY...recomend getting online and ordering it.
But anyhow, got to hit the sack now.
Lots of luck to you and yours.

I don't know about this, but the theme song in the closing credits is of a
different octave than the song in the opening. I'm pretty sure I noticed
this some time ago.

"All the southern accent is gone as well. Has anyone else noticed this?"

Kim Milgate,

I have noticed that not only has his accent gone in the color, but it
diminishes during the b & w. Watch "The Manhunt", and then watch a later b &
w after Goob comes along and you will see it.

I don't think Mr. Holmes would have put this in the 'impossible' category. I
know of a lot of people who have relatives on both their father and mother's
sides of the family with the same last names. But then, I AM from
Alabama................

Could anyone tell me where a person could find some "No Time For Sergeants"

Surely someone in the world has some picture prints or even movie posters
for sale. If you know where, please let me know.

Paul,

Forget all of your wonderful logic. I just wanted to be the first one to
comment on your lovely numbering scheme. Mrs. Mendelbright would be proud.

I got to see Opie's charity last night...one of the best...I prefer the old
b/w's...I've heard discussions on when a sitcom starts to go down hill...for
example..the brady bunch took on Oliver that's when it got bad..or All in the
Family when Gloria and Mike left and so on....but I really do enjoy any of
the Andy Griffith shows...Andy did seem more serious and depressed after
Barney but wouldnt you...Barney's a hoot!!!!....but I will watch them all no
matter what (except RFD I can't get into that)...anyways to go off the
subject for a sec...YES I AM A HUGE VOLS FAN...WOOHOOOOO...Hollie

This happens sometime about 1964, the opening theme starts to sound more like
the closing theme...

It was originally in the key of G, but during the color years, it was
lowered to E-flat and shortended considerably. The announcer's voice was
also eliminated. BTW, composer Earle Hagen did the whistling himself.

Hi folks,

Here's a good trivia question for you. Be warned: Upon first reading the
question, you will THINK you know the answer, but you'll probably be wrong!
Here goes:

In one episode, a character addresses Floyd by a last name other than
Lawson. Name the character and the name used.

- --Paul

P.S. When Madeline Grayson pronounces Floyd's name, in her sophisticated
accent it sounds like "Larson," but that's not the answer I'm looking for.

Hey everybody. I noticed watching the first few episodes that there is a
pair of french doors on the right side of the stairs and to the left of the
fireplace, but in a later episode (high noon in Mayberry), there is a window
there with table where he and Barney are playing dominoes. Andy hears and
then see's Otis (his body guard) outside the window. Did anyone else notice
that? On another note, I noticed that a lot of you have nick names from the
show. I was thinking of one, but didn't want to step on anyones toes if
they already have it. I was thinking of being called "Horatio" Does
anybody have that name? Please let me know, I don't want to offend anyone.
Thanks, Kevin

My best friend for life lives half the country
away from me. He and I were roomates in
Fayetteville,AR during what was supposed to
be college years. I ended up on the ten year
bachelor degree plan as we discovered that
we could flip between local stations, wtbs, and
wgn and catch six consecutive B&W Anges. Actually
we had full time night jobs during those
turbulent early eighties, but I would not trade
those days for the 5 or 6 years that I delayed
joining the degreed work force.

I was just wondering if anyone noticed something the other night. I was
watching TVL, and it was the episode where Ellie first came into town. She
met Opie and gave him a free ice cream for not saying aint no more:-) This
was the first time her and Opie had met.

Then...In the episode where Andy tries to ask Ellie to the dance, Opie comes
into the drug store, and talks with Ellie for a while enjoying his other
FREE ice cream. Then she says...You must be Sheriff Taylors little boy.
The kicker is that they had already met.

or am I wrong?

Subject: episode: the new druggist when Miss Ellie comes to town

Recently I watched the episode where Miss Ellie comes to town to be the new
druggist. Every body meets her for the first time. (note:We LOVED the way
Cheerio
acted when she demanded her pills so that she would not die.)
On another episode, Miss Ellie is introduced "for the first time",
it seems, by her uncle the pharmacist. When he introduces her, everybody acts
as if it is the FIRST time they ever meet. Has anyone else noticed this?
Also, at the end of the episode " Miss Ellie the druggist comes to town"
where she is standing outside convincing Andy that he should not write a
parking
ticket to the car by the firehydrant (hers), an African American man walks
by (across the street). hooray, hooray, the B & W 's are back!!! "We love Barney
