Hey folks....let's keep on track here and stop the college sports talk unless
it's got to do with Mayberry. I'm sure there are plenty of sports mailing
lists out there for folks to show their love.

Thanks....

Since Paul & I are on the same level of Mayberry knowledge, I normally
don't answer trivia questions. However, since it's already been
mentioned, the last name of Chase applied to Floyd would certainly fit.
Good job.

I had the distinct pleasure yesterday at meetin' to
play an old hymn with the beat of most all them songs
that Miss Clara Edwards played on the organ. (The song
was "Take the Name of Jesus With You). You see I am
our church organist and there are times I just
absolutely feel like I will look out and see Barney
and Gomer trying to stay awake while Opie catches a
fly in his bare hand. I so enjoy this opportunity to
feel like part of TAGS. Then in the evening I just
want to sit back on my Mama's porch and peel an apple,
or maybe walk down to the fillin' station and buy a
bottle of pop. Ah, such sweet times! See ya'll
later. Anita in Cincinnati

Heck, you can hardly blame Andy...Opie was getting into puberty and becoming a
teenager. There was so much more to snap about! :)

I just finished watching the episode where the stranger comes to town that no
one knows, and Andy finds out his Army buddy was from Mayberry, and he read
the local Mayberry rag. Who is the original Floyd in this episode?

Howard - Atlanta

Well, Rick, I guess I missed your original post.
Soooooooo, just let me say that I LOVED your recollections about how the
envelope thing was done when you were a kid. I don't think I ever knew of
those kind of envelopes being used at any church I went to.
But my favorite comment was the one about everybody snipping at each other on
the way to church. I have 4 brothers and a sister. We never got out of the
house without some kind of upheaval. You can imagine Sunday morning at our
house when we all lived at home. Talk about manic, urgent flight out of the
house...that EXACTLY describes how it was for us! That was such a realistic
observation and I enjoyed it!
Thanks for your comments!! And I can't imagine that you'd ever be as dry as
dust.

Subject: Barney's OTHER First Car

I noticed the other night during the epilogue to "Runaway Kid," that Andy
and Opie were gonna push "Barney's car" in front of the fire plug. I guess
all the recent talk about cars we've seen Barney driving sparked me to
notice this, and that he didn't get his first car from Ol' Hubcaps Lesch
after all. Maybe this one was a hand-me-down, and that the car he got from
Myrt was his first car to buy himself. Boy, with a big enough bucket, we
could explain it all...

"I plan on going [to the moon] myself someday"
"Boy, you're already there."

Floyd Feldman??? Sorry, Paul, but I gotta disagree. It makes more sense
that he would have used the Colby surname, since that's what Floyd put on
his barbershop window in that episode, but even if Mr. Harmon DID say
something different, I'd bet just a WHOLE LOT that it was a slip of the
tongue that they decided not to correct. If you watch that scene closely,
you'll see Mr. Harmon give a little "double-take" or "wince" after he's
said his line, like the actor of the man KNEW that he'd blown his line.
Maybe he had "Floyd" on the brain, then said "Mr. Floyd" by mistake, and
realized that he'd picked his peaches 'fore they were fuzzed up good and
tried to make a correction in mid-sentence. That's my theory, anyway.

I'll tell you what: Let's leave this little trivia question unanswered for
now, until somebody can look at a script of that episode (the only
definitive resource, in my opinion) and give us the "Official
Verification". Okay? I mean, we DON'T want another "Johnny Coons" fiasco
on our hands, do we? EwwwwwwWEEEE, that smelled worse than Aunt Bee's
pickles!

Doug "Rafe Hollister" Garretson
"But they ain't good ol' store pickles. They're bad ol' home pickles."

Dave,

The Digest and Miss Crump's Blackboard are two completely different things.

Hello all, just wanted to let everyone know, that Ms. Perry is doing
great, I spoke with her yesterday, she's still doing Physical therapy, but
she's out driving and going places, she and Betty Lynn have an outing
planned for the end of this month. I thinks it's so great that the two of
them still do things together. But she sends her love to all the fellow
TAGS members.
Have a great day!!!

Subject: Floyd's wife

I may be a little behind with this but, someone asked about Floyd having a
wife. I remember one episode- I think it was the one where the guy was
acting suspicious so Barney got together a "posse". Come to find out, the
guy's wife was about to have a baby. Any way, at the end of episode, Floyd
and some other guys are hiding outside the house and Floyd says,"The misses
wouldn't let me bring her big stick." Instead he has a big rock. I love
that! On another note--I was watching the episode about the Hollywood
producer last night and I noticed the Mayor's daughter-Juanita- I sure hope
that's not the same Juanita at the diner that Barney was crazy about. Bless
her heart. "Hi, Sweetie. Oh, Hello, Frank."

Hey Folks,

My names Dave and I'm a staff member with a LaughingPlace.com a "Disney" Online
Magazine and Disney Travel Planning Guide (although were not affiliated with
Disney) And as a long time reader to the tagsrrwc site and subscriber to
wbmutbb-digest I bring you some interesting info.

Last Thursday February 8th Disney unveiled its brand new theme park located
right next-door to Disneyland and it's called Disney's California Adventure.
And on Wednesday night they had a Red Carpet Celebrity event and they invited
some of the big names in Hollywood to come visit the park. Among them was
Opie's Hobo friend Buddy Ebsen. Since Buddy doesn't make very appearances
anymore I figured tagsrrwc would be interested in seeing him.

Here is the URL for the page at the red-carpet event
http://www.laughingplace.com/News-ID502140.asp

And here is from the Opening Day event the next morning (he is on the left in
the trench coat)
http://www.laughingplace.com/News-PID502110-502114.asp

Please stop by http://www.laughingplace.com and take a look we also cover all
Disney news and have feature stories and Columns. Trivia Contests, Online
Polls, A Disney Website Directory, and a Disney Search Engine.

I hope you all enjoy
