Hey everybody. I heard Barney say the other day, that he spent 2 hours
polishing his hat. I've never heard of polishing a hat. How do you do
that? I'm only 36 years old and I've never worn a hat like Barn's, but for
the life of me I can't figure out how you do it. My Dad would wear a hat,
but it seemed more stuff than the floppy one that Barn wears. I've only
wore a baseball cap. If anybody has any thought, just send them along.

Mike,

You can't forget the pickles!! But you better make 'em good ole store
pickles, not bad ole home pickles.

I saw that episode last night. Laughed 'til I cried!! Am I mistaken, but I
seem to remember a scene where someone offered Barney a pickle and he said,
" I'll smoke it later"? Was it just cut out?
You don't think that gas stove is leaking, do you? NO, Aunt Bee's making
marmalade!!
Becky, I gotta bring the car around.

Ramona wrote in Barney's yearbook: "The tears on my pillow bespeak the pain
that is in my heart". A few more questions about Ramona:

1. What class did she and Barney have together?
2. What was her nickname for Barney?
3. What was Ramona's maiden name?
Bonus: What's the connection between Ramona Wiley and Ramona Ankrum (Ernest
T.'s girlfriend)?

beer there but if you go over in Yancey, you can see a floor show.

Right! Gee, I thought that one would be a little tougher than that. As far
as I know, this is the only episode ("Barney Mends a Broken Heart") with a
pinball machine.

Now for the REALLY tough part (I think). Can anyone give the NAME of the
pinball machine in the Tip Top Cafe?

Hey everyone,
I believe Ramona Wiley wrote,"Always,Ramona" in Barney's yearbook. Andy
thought that sounded kind of serious, but according to Barn,"It was all
one-sided". I haven't written for a while. Two little children keep me
busy, but I enjoy reading my digest every day. Hope y'all have a good week.

Subject: Modern-Day Mayberry

Thanks to all who have been "carrying the ball" with the Modern-Day
Mayberry? List.

It's hard to think of things to put on this list, because a Modern-Day
Mayberry wouldn't be devoid of ALL things modern -- just certain things.
For instance, Weavers in a Modern-Day Mayberry would definitely carry air
conditioners in their inventory (or you could go to Mt. Pilot and buy one
through THE MAN.) With all the catalog shopping available today, you would
be able to buy almost any kind of electronic "gadget" you wanted through the
mail, including computers. Phone service would almost certainly be updated
to the point that you would't be dealing with party lines.

The only way to avoid today's technology -- even in Modern Day Mayberry --
is to refuse to buy it or accept it in your home. I guess wer're saying
that Modern-Day Mayberry citizens would agree to NOT HAVE and NOT DO many
things that are available to them.

I like the list items of being able to keep your doors and windows open, not
having to lock your bike (or car!), and kids being free to roam and having
others watching over them.

Here's a few more for the list...

Would you like to be able to walk almost anyplace you needed to go to if you
wanted to or had to?
Would you like to park at the Duck Pond without fearing harm from others or
harrassment from the Sheriff?
Would you like to "shoot crow" for recreation?
Would you like to be able to kill a Carp without fear of retribution?

Hey Mike...when you're watching that marathon, don't forget to turn off the
lights....it's so much cooler!!!

Was a pan of cashew fudge on your list? Gotta have THAT!

And you might want to be sure that Gomer has some oil to change and gastanks
to fill, because it's hard to watch T.V. when he's around. (No offense,
Gomer, but this marathon is pretty special!)

My wife bought her first car, a '61 Chevy Bel-air, from the original owner.
He was an elderly man from Teutopolis, IL. His only son had to take the car
away from him, because he stopped half-way across the intersections. But,
true to a Mayberry type town, everybody recognized his car & took appropriate
measures to give him room.

promotional pressing of 1,000 copies is "Vic Mizzy: Suites & Themes," a 77
minute heaping helping of the best of Mizzy ... taken direct from Mizzy's
own original master tapes! Although he's best known to the world for the

better for the haunting organ and soundtrack music of "The Ghost and Mr..
Chicken." Now, for the first time, you can get the previously unreleased
music from "Ghost," as well as suites and tunes from "The Shakiest Gun in
the West," "The Reluctant Astronaut," "The Love God?" and "How to Frame a
Figg," as well as many more cult flicks and TV shows scored by Mr. Mizzy. I
am ecstatic to have this music to listen to at my leisure, having wished for
a "Ghost" soundtrack since I was a kid. Comes with a deluxe insert book,
with comments by the composer, reproductions of the movie posters, behind
the scenes pics, and much more! HIGHEST POSSIBLE RECOMMENDATION!

< " 7)Ask Sarah to hold my calls(That won't be a problem

Someone cleverly wrote the above in their list of things to do to be ready for
the TAGS athon next week end.
There is one thing that has bugged me for years whenever I watch that episode
where Mr. Tucker is trying to use the telephone on sunday afternoon and those
two sisters were talking about their foot problems, etc. for hours.....
How could two old ladies AFFORD to talk for hours LONG DISTANCE back then?
I mean, long distanace was much MORE expensive then, in comparison to their
income, etc. Remember when 3 minutes costs an arm and a leg and most times
people could/would only talk their "egg-timer's" 3-minute's worth?????
If Sarah took it upon herself to not charge the sisters for their hours of
talking, WHO authorized Sarah to do that? Those scenes in the man in a hurry
episode never quite seemed realistic..............BUT, WOULDN'T IT BE NICE TO
HAVE HOURS OF FREE PHONE VISITING EVERY SUNDAY AFTERNOON!!!! oh, boy!!march
10 TAGS-A-thon!!oh, boy!!! :-)
