Did you know the "uh-oh" lady was Lucy's mother, DeDe? She was front row
center for every episode of "I Love Lucy," "The Lucy Show" and "Here's Lucy"
(1951 - 1974). Too bad she didn't make a residual deal for her "uh-oh"'s.

I thought about that for a second because your right, there's no way he could
buy a car with just the money he made on a night job over a
month.....BUT....I think what he means is, he worked there to make some MORE
money. In a month he had made enough that he could add it on to his other
savings and then, he had enough to buy a car.

Opie is never seen wearing overalls in any episode, so it's very strange
that Aunt Bee would say that.  Almost nobody wears overalls in Mayberry;
outside of the Darling family, I can think of only two regular characters
who ever do. Who can name them? By "regular characters" I mean they appear
in at least 6 episodes (Frankie Flint, Rafe Hollister, and Jeff Pruitt do
not qualify).

>>>

They use a very unusual filing system. In "The Rumor," Barney dumps out the
J - Z drawer on purpose, to keep Andy tied up at the office for several
hours. Having J - Z all in one drawer is odd enough, but the really strange
thing is, it's the TOP drawer! This makes no sense at all.

Subject: Crimes in Mayberry

This one may have already been mentioned, but just in case... how about
Newton Monroe peddling all that junk without a license.

And while we're on the topic, I think there is another interesting list.
There are several crimes that we don't actually see happen but see the
result of. I'll start the list so you'll know what I'm thinking. Of course
some of these turn into other crimes (attempted escape, etc.), but I'm
really thinking of people we see or hear about because of their
transgression.

1. Gentleman Dan Caldwell
2. Tracy Crawford from Chattanooga
3. Mayor Pike, Aunt Bee, Opie, Old Bert, Otis, and just about everyone else
in town when Barney threw out the dragnet - anyone else in this scene
doesn't count.
4. Emma Brand jaywalking
5. Sam Muggins makin' moonshine, cuttin' in on old Ben Weaver's legal sales
- - agin' the law
6. Otis with a snoot-full
7. George (I think that's his name) paying his ticket for littering when
Aunt Bee's relatives are in town - "firebug!"

There are several others that come to mind, but since I can't think of the
people's names, I'll defer for others to respond. Remember, if we see them
commit the crime, it doesn't count. It has to be implied.

I noticed today that the oval window in Ol' Lady Crump's classroom, is the
same as the window in the lobby of the Mayberry Hotel. It's the episode where
Barn goes 'undercover', to help the FBI catch a bank robber.

One question.....in the ad regarding "The Loaded Goat" that showed several
times, there is a scene with alot of people running, with Andy seemingly
leading the rush. I know that scene isn't from "The Loaded Goat", but what
show is it from?

...I believe that scene is taken from the episode where they picked Andy to
judge the beauty contest. They were all chasing him cause they wanted him to
pick their "little darlin'" and he runs home to get away from them only to
have Aunt Bea confront him with her pick of Ellie.

Good to see you posting today Laura Lee Hobbs. I've been wondering where you
are at and think of you each time I get my digest.

HEY SKIP>>> I asked the same question over on MISS CRUMP'S bulletin
board. One of the regulars there seems to think it is from The Beauty
Contest episode. Possibly an epilogue (last scene). Unfortunately the
local station here in Knoxville, TN cuts the epilogues,.. and I haven't
seen that ep on TVLAND.

My wife asked me the same question. Based on the number of girls in the crowd,
and the fact that one is still carrying a parasol with tassles hanging from it,
I think that scene comes from The Beauty Contest. The problem is, I don't
remember seeing it in The Beauty Contest. Maybe I nodded off briefly, or maybe
it was cut!

Anyway - that's my story and I'm stickin' with it!

Lots a luck to you and yours.

Hey all! I too get so touched at some of the great TAGS Moments in episodes.
Today, I was watching "Class Reunion" and about cried when they start singing
their almamater (sp). That gets to me everytime. I have never attended any
of my reunions, but I guess they would be kind of sad in a way.

Also, someone wrote in asking about the commercial on TVLand where folks are
chasing Andy. That is the episode "The Beauty Contest" when folks find out
that Andy is judging the contest, they aggravate him to death about him voting
for their loved one who's in the contest.

Bye for now and "lots of luck to you and yours."

I just wanted to point this out so we'd all look smart while we're talking
since several folks have spelled Aunt Bee's name B-E-A lately.

The correct spelling is B-E-E . It can be seen on a couple of episodes,
color ones. When she had the Chinese Restaurant ("Aunt Bee's Restaurant"
episode #209) and when she ran for council ("Politics Begin at Home" episode
#200).

Just thought everybody would want to know.

Hey all! I have a "Paul Mulik" question? haha Aren't we lucky to have
somene like Pual who is so keen on TAGS? Anyway, my question is, I was
watching the episode the other night, "The Merchant of Mayberry." Opie comes
in the courthouse stuffing gum in his jaws and says something that I just
cannot understand. He says it after Andy addresses his two questions and
right before Andy leaves the courthouse to go see Bert. Someone help me with
that. I can understand some of what he says, but that one particular line is
bugging me. "Paul?"

>>>...I figure Otis's car cost a least $100 or so. How could he make that

>>>

In a different episode (Otis the Artist) we learn that Otis is gainfully
employed as a glue dipper at the furniture factory. In another episode
(Cousin Virgil) we learn that he was considered for a job at the feed store,
although we don't know if he ever actually got that job. Perhaps he was
able to save a little bit from each paycheck at his day job and put it
together with what he earned at the night job.

Even if he had only one job, $100 in a month is not unrealistic. Opie made
75 cents an hour at the grocery store, so whatever job Otis had probably
paid at least that much. If he worked 40 hours a week, he would have earned
a total of $30 a week before taxes.
