Hiddy all!

I just had to send this on. These two items were among others noted in a
classic TV digest. They sure have the favorite child star right!

An Interview with Buddy Ebsen
Buddy Ebsen is probably best remembered by television fans as Jed
Clampett or Barnaby Jones. Recently I interviewed Mr. Ebsen and found
out about his recent activities, which may surprise you. Enjoy reading
our conversation! From Celebrity News Guide Adelle Vancil Tilton.

And regarding the question about any SEC players with Mayberry names, I am
sure I could think of a few, but there were mentions of TAGS during the
tournament. One kid with Alabama LOVES TAGS and that he doesn't like to
miss his daily dose and they mentioned it several times during the year, as
well as the tournament. They also called Blake Eddings with the Arkansas
Razorbacks (GO HOGS!) Opie because of his red hair. I really enjoyed these
comments by the commentators and would have missed them if I had watched the
games with the sound off so I could listen to the Arkansas commentators on
the radio. Good thing I didn't!

Everyone have a Mayberry Day! Now go out and ACT like somebody!

Hey everybody. I was watching the Barney's motorcycle episode today and
noticed that his goggles didn't have lens in them. He said they were to
keep objects out of his eyes. Did they do that because of the glare it
would have made on the camera? On another note, it was kind of funny
watching Andy making a fool of himself, going out and stopping the major in
his tank, instead of Barney doing something foolish. By the way, I think
the motorcycle was a good idea to have around. You can use the sidecart for
going back and forth to the store. Enough rambling on, talk with yall
later, Horatio

Subject: Opie's mouth full fo gum

Hey, from Branson. Early this morning we got to see the west coast feed of nick
at nite and caught the episode about Bert selling stuff on the empty lot, etc.
Since we are learning to be trained noticers, we caught "one" and are wondering
if any body else caught it.
It is where Opie comes in with gum in his mouth. He stands there adding piece
after piece of gum, and as Andy is talking to him and asking him where he got
the money to buy the gum, etc., Opie's mouth becomes soooooo full that he can
not speak clearly. In a split second, Andy asks Opie a question and Opie's
mouth has such a LITTLE amount of gum in it that his answer is clearly
understood.
Opie's mouth goes from full and stuffed to almost empty and Opie begins filling
it again.
At the end of the scene, his mouth was so full that I could not tell what
his last statement to his daddy was, either!

Hey April. Great run-down on those episodes there, but the egg man who was
running a still in his cellar was Mr. Frisbee, not Rigsby. Mr. Rigsby was
none other than Parnell, Parnell, Parnell. That's Parnell Rigsby...I believe
Andy liked him but he didn't care too much for Mr. Frisbee.
Just my thoughts!

Hey Dave,
I don't know if it was discussed here previously or not...probably so, but
what I know about Thelma Lou's job is that she worked in an office in town.
We learn this in the episode where Helen gets mad at Andy for calling her a
"third party" ("What's wrong with third party?, it's not dirty!) Anyway, Thel
tells Barney she dropped everything at the office to come right over in the
scene where Barn gets Thel and Helen to come to the courthouse so he can
patch things up between them. Hope this helps!

<<And did you see that fake background behind Barney in that shot. A fence
with two sad little trees sticking up behind it.>>

Yeah, well Barney must've wrecked more than just the jail window in trying to
help Otis make his job interview on time. In the "Mr. McBeevee" episode aired
tonight, the fence and two sad little trees had been replaced by a solid
brick wall - which is noticed in the scene where Andy and Barney are locked
out of the courthouse and Andy goes around back to try and wake Otis by
tapping on the jail window overlooking his cell. I reckon the Mayberry mason
who repaired the damage to the jail must've had enough bricks and mortar
leftover to build a wall!

Dave, I don't respond much because I'm just a novice next to you people! But
I know I remember someone mentioning Thelma Lou having to get back "to the
office". I guess I assumed she was a secretary.

>>>

Maybe the store was named after a man named Steven Stevens! If this is the
case, either spelling would be correct.

Ben feared that Jim Stevens may have been opening a new store in Mayberry.
Perhaps Jim Stevens is the son or brother of Steven Stevens.

>>>Incidentally, does anyone know what kind of shirt that was? And what
color was the tie? Brown or Black?

We're never told the brand name of the Mayberry Sheriff Department's
uniforms (Barney says his is made of genuine whiplash cord, whatever that
is) but the tie is definitely black. There's a very famous photo of Barney
with his eyes wide open; in this picture he is wearing a brown tie, but
that's because it was originally a black and white photo and someone
colorized it incorrectly (as if colorizing were ever "correct" - but that's
another story). Whoever colorized this particular picture also made his
eyes brown, instead of blue.

The phrase "cool as the center seed of a cucumber" was spoken by Andy to
Barney after Barney brought in Rafe Hollister (without firin' a shot!) in
the episode "Sheriff Barney". The complete quote is, "There you stand, as
cool as the center seed of a cucumber, and you just brought in the most
wanted man in the county."

Hope this helps. I'll see ya.

supporter of TAGS, would have to preempt an episode of
TAGS

God Bless WFMY-TV channel 2! I was born and raised in
Eden NC about 25 miles north of Greensboro, and they
have shown TAGS as long as I can remember, thats the
channel I watched it on everyday after school, thank
you for sending in that article, and basketball is the
only thing I can think of that they would pre-emt Andy
for, lol. One thing that did tickle my funny bone was
the San Digeo writer saying that Greensboro was like a
larger Mayberry, we considered Greensboro the "Big
City" where all kinds of evil doings went on, lol.

Yes,..In the "Cousin Virgil" ep,...Rance is the bus driver.

Now,...Can someone help me... The credits on the "Baby In The House" ep
list CANDACE HOWARD as "Martha". Is Candace Howard any relation to Rance
or Ronnie?

Hey to all my fellow Mayberrians,

Just read Laura Lee Hobbs post this morning where she mentions a
paragraph about a moment to
dance in the sun, and I must admit that it kind of choked me up to
read it.

I just have a question for Laura Lee: Is this a quote from some
poem or reference in some
novel. I have never heard it before, or did it come from the top of
your head. If so, Laura Lee,
        you should be a writer.

I am going to copy the quote and keep it for a reference from time
to time........

Okay Mayberrians, they did it again! I wrote in an earlier digest that TV
Land had skipped an episode for no apparent reason. Well, they did it
again...I'm trying to get all episodes on tape and frequently check the
lineup for the next couple of weeks so I know whats coming on and can set my
VCR accordingly. As I was just checking it out I noticed that "Class
Reunion" was left out of the programming. They also left out the episode
titled "Jailbreak" a couple of weeks ago. Maybe we all need to contact them
and tell them we don't appreciate episodes being skipped for know reason. Of
course, I don't want to start a moulage (if that's how you spell it).

Finally, I would like to tell Tom I appreciate his explination of Giley's fan
"appearing" to turn the wrong way but I still think it was just spinning
backwards (??).
