Hey to everyone out there! This is in response to Aunt Bee's trivia question
about someone being called a firebug. I believe (and I could have this wrong)
that in episode #130 "Family Visit" that Uncle Ollie calls the poor old man a
firebug when he comes in to pay his parking ticket. I can't recall the man's
name but Uncle Ollie proceeds to chew him out over the fact that someone
might have needed that hydrant in the case of a fire. This episode was on my
local station just this week and it is absolutely one of the funniest ones of
all. My favorites are usually with Barney in them, but this one doesn't have
Barney and it still has me rolling every time. I have often thought that
Ollie and Nora looked kinda old to have such young sons, but what do I know?
Maybe they got a late start. Ollie should have been a regular on the show in
my opinion, or was he in any other episodes? Maybe someone knows this
answer.

Now, go out there and act like somebody!

What was Otis's wife's name? Someone ask me and for the life of me I can't
think of it. I remember her in different episodes. But just can't get it.
Here I was thinking I was smarter than a tree full of owls!
Thanks Jimbo "Dr.Pendyke" Seay

Wasn't it "Lerlene" Seems to me like I remember Otis saying that. Of course
he also called her "the little woman".

I should have done a little investigation before I stuck my big foot in my
mouth. According to the data base, and it's a gooood data base, Otis' wife's
name is Rita. I don't know where I got Lerlene from!

Since it's been brought up, I guess I'll go ahead and throw in my two
cents, sort of. I've been ogling those Mayberry uniforms for quite a while,
and I know I would like to know if there are in specs surrounding them? I
can't help but notice Barney's badge always off center, and at times, when
Badges are missing, your are like as not going to kind the reinforced
eyelets where the badge pins to the shirt. I figure that if the holes are
missing, ten wardrobe just found any old khaki shirt to fit the bill.
Regardless, My main interest is in one of those dark jackets that Anje and
Barn wear from time to time. does anyone know just what kind of coat these
were (I thought Carheart originally); in fact, does anyone even know what
color they were? I wouldn't wear the uniform, but I sure would like to get
one of these jackets!

Best regards:
        Bruce and Mary Nail

Hey folks,

Tonight while watching "Lawman Barney" on TVLand, I noticed something very
unusual about the vehicles seen in this episode. Anybody know what it was?

For those who don't know the titles, this is the episode where Barney tries
to get two men to stop illegally selling their vegetables from the back of
their truck while parked on the side of the road.

With the exception of Allan Melvin, isn't Herbie Faye the guest actor who
appears in the most different....but similar roles on the Griffith Show?
Don't know Herbie? Think carnivals and Salve.
Herbie was the Manager of that Carnival show that was shut down in Mayberry.
That suggestive dancing lady, with the lovable one man band played by Jerry
Van Dyke. "We couldn't agree on terms. I wanted $30.00 and he didn't want
to pay me anything", He was at the carnival again when Andy discovered the
shooting gallery had guns with the sites all bent. "I'm gonna put you guys
on the bunko list for every county in the state??"). And of course Herbie
was one of the proprietors of the Miracle Salve company. "They want to buy
our Salve and sell it to veterinarians. They say it cures the Mange" (How
do you do that with you're voice?)

It seems I may be missing some other appearances on other episodes. Anyone
know of others? Was he ever in jail? Didn't he stop by the counterfeiting
shop/print shop that Aunt Bee worked at?
To see Herbie's face check out the this site, the second row.

Hi Y'all!

I love last night's episode about those guys selling produce from their truck
... especially the prices they were sellin' those veggies.... okra 13 cents/lb.
and cucumbers a penny apiece! but, one thing i noticed last night that I'd
never noticed before was the SIZE of the squash they were
selling!!! They were BIG..... I mean, "BIG" ain't the word for it!!! One
customer had bought one and was walkin' off with it and he was totin' it up
under his arm, almost!!! I cracked up!!! At first I thought it was a cucumber
and I thought, WOW! Aunt Bee would FUN makin' pickles outta those
("no doubt about it... THAT's a pickle!")... but, then, i realized it was a
squash. Any of y'all ever seen squash THAT big? And, they had a whole basket
FULL of 'em, too!!! We don't grow 'em THAT big here in Mississippi, I tell
ya!!!

btw...I just HATE it when TVLand cuts lines out of the show, don't you?

Boy, you should have seen our "Floyd the barber" on an old rerun of the George
Burns Gracie Allen show this early morning!!
He was their plumber; In a few scenes, he was dressed in a tuxedo, and my,
he looked handsome! Funny thing, though; I ALWAYS thought that the silly
vocal inflections, and the "body movements and body language" was due to his
"character's" personality, etc. that the actor did to portray "Floyd" and his
"ways". He acted the same way, talked the same way(you know how he would trail
off the end of a sentence) and was basically the same as FLoyd in THIS show.
Those must be his manerisms in real life.((sort of like robert duval in "The
Apostle"; I thought he acted and talked that way on purpose to be that
character;
later found out he talks and acts that way, anyway.) Hey, from the
still-bare-treed
hills of the ozarks.

In response to the trivia question about the "firebug", it was uncle
Ollie that called the man who came in to pay a fine Barney gave him for
parking his car in front of the fire hydrant. (uncle Ollie: Supposin' the
fire department needed to use that hydrant? Folks think they can get away
with anything around here!) I don't remember the man's name but he asked
Andy if uncle Ollie was a nut, then uncle Ollie drove off in the squad
car with the sirene on. ( the episode was when Aunt Bee's sister and
family came to visit and they drove them crazy) Aunt Bee: Well Ollie, I
heard you slept very well last night. Ollie: Not a WINK, NOT a wink!
