They showed an Andy Griffith marathon just two weeks ago, and before that they had two others. It will likely come back around in a few more months, as TAGS is one of TV Land's flagship shows... Hey everybody. I was just wondering something. Floyd always cuts everybodies hair, but who cuts Floyd's hair? Can he do it himself? Seems like a hard jod to me. Or, does he have to go to Mount Pilot to get his hair cut? Maybe, his wife cuts his hair? If anybody has any thoughts on the matter, just send them along. Dapper Dan ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Mar 2001 14:55:49 -0500 From: "Richard Dixon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: More Uniform Stuff While the subject of uniforms is still active I thought I'd offer up an observance. Did you ever notice the pocket flaps? Barney's are tapered and come to a point in the middle. Andy's are straight with the corners cropped at a 45 degree angle. Occasionally a guest deputy appears with a third style (scalloped with three points - one on each end and one in the center). I believe that Jerry Van Dyke's uniform shirt was the scalloped type. Another uniform inconsistency is their stars. The badge on Andy's and Barney's chest is a 6-point star while the star on their sleeve(and squad car and motorcycle sidecar)is a 5-point star. Temporary deputies in "Guest of Honor" have 5-point stars on their chest, while the state police in "The Manhunt" wear 7-point stars. While there there is no reason to have consistency between the state police and Mayberry insignia, and I can forgive the prop department for being inconsistent with the temporary deputies of a single episode, I've always wondered why the chest badges of Andy and Barney don't match the rest of their official insignia. Seems to me that their uniforms weren't very uniform. I wonder what causes that? I grabbed the scissors and clipped it from today's Sunday Edition of THE DENVER POST. The article title: "'Mayberry' a Religious Experience to Some." Written by Denver Post Staff Writer, Cate Terwilliger, it features the subject of Bible studies based on "the gospel according to Andy." The writer obviously interviewed our own Joey Fann and quoted him continuously. 'Twas a stellar Press moment for those of us TAGSRWC folk in the Rocky Mountain West. Congratulations to Joey! Good work! Good article! Makes me right proud! When you over-do anything, it's easy to get tired of it. I'd hate to see that happen to TAGS. Oh sure, some will say that could never happen to them, but anyway, no network is going to do that anyhow and the other shows are good as well...Now guys, back to the positive ok and leave our friends at TVLand alone. After all, its spring---Aren't the trees getting nice and full?" Mayberryaly Yours, Mike Peacock ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 25 Mar 2001 20:37:40 -0500 From: "Phil Fox" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: uniforms, jackets, californy plates The uniforms were of the Military style, and most likely military surplus, Andy and Barney wore different shirsts , Barney had pockets that the flap came to more of a point in the middle where it buttons, and Andys' shirts had flaps that were square with nipped off corners. Now the Jackets were deffinately Brown to go with the Kacki uniforms (Please no offense intended Modero, jest adjust the color on your set) the Tie, shoes hat bill and strap were all Black. The hat was manufactured by the Miway Cap Co., they are still in business today and sadly though the quality of the original hats are long gone, I have an original Barney style hat and had Midway make me a new one and I was very dissapointed in the new one, it only resembles the original. (there is still something to be said for the good ol days) I'm almost 100% sure the plates were NC and not Californy, Movie and TV people are sticklers for detail. In the era of Tags a lot of states used the same color schemes. I contacted them and HSN several years ago about doing this but I guess it took them this long to make up their minds to contact him, huh?! I'll bet this gets our group (and our cause, as I look at it) a lot of positive publicity!!
