I watched our Jim Clark on QVC this morning, and I just want to congratulate
Jim on his appearance. That gal on there sure didn't give him much time to
talk, but he managed to get his lick in on them desserts. They sure did look
good too. Congratulations, Jim....we gonna have to start writing you in
Hollywood now? LOL

I called Columbia House a couple weeks ago about the second installment
of TAGS videos, and I was told at that time, that they weren't available yet.
As a matter of fact, the gal I talked to didn't even know they were coming
out with a second set of tapes. I was told to just keep checking back to see
when they would be available.

I saw a couple of episodes where Barney and Andy both paid floyd for their
hair cuts, Barney told Floyd to go buy a book on side burns. Andy ask Floyd
how much once and he said 2 bits, if i remember right. "Al if those
Hamburgers are ruined I won't be responsible!" Love that Floyd...

There was one episode where Andy asks Floyd "What's the damage Floyd?'
But I am not sure that he gave Floyd any money. Does any one remember?

Here's another Floyd mystery. Ever notice that no matter who was getting a
haircut, nobody ever paid Floyd when they were done. When the Bookie
Barber was there, Floyd liked the sound of the register (Listen, he's
playing my song" but I saw Andy, Barn, various mayors, et al. get out of
the chair and slide out the door without even a reach for the pocket and I
can't recall ever hearing the register ding. I know Jim Lindsay was
running a tab, but Floyd complained about that one.

Good point Jeff. However, I do know there was at least one time when someone
actually reached for the pocket: Andy gets up and reaches for his wallet and
asks Floyd, "What's the damage?"

I know several of you are, like me, fans of both TAGS and the original Star
Trek. While watching a ST episode called "The Paradise Syndrome" the other
day, it struck me that the "Indian" village looked a whole lot like Myers
Lake. Does anyone know if it is?

I always enjoy pointing out Floyd's barber shop in the ST episode "City on
the Edge of Forever" to my friends--no one can believe it!

There are two TAGS episodes with dream sequences, "A Medal for Opie" and
"Howard's New Life." Emmett Clark has a "daydream sequence" in "Sam for
Town Council;" I suppose this qualifies too.

Well, that's not what I was thinking of, but I took an even closer look at
that episode, and it turns out that what I thought was wrong wasn't wrong
after all. So Janet, you 'n' Aunt Bee's havin' fried chicken, but I'm
havin' crow.

However, there IS another episode that qualifies -- it is "Aunt Bee the
Warden." This is the one where Andy runs out of room at the courthouse, and
brings Otis to his own house so he can serve his time there, under the
watchful eye of Aunt Bee ("Aunt Bee? Bloody Mary!")

I'll give you a hint: it's something to do with the squad car. As far as I
know, this particular "blooper" appears in only this one episode.

Yes, Jerry Van Dyke was considered as a permanent replacement for Don
Knotts. Don Rickles was also in the running for a short time (remember, he
appeared in one of the final black and white episodes).

I spoke with Jerry Van Dyke a few years back and he said that was one of the
biggest mistakes of his career. He turned down the role for his own series,
"MY MOTHER THE CAR."

I know this one, because I asked a year or so ago and we compiled a list.

1) Opie dreams of winning the gold medals in the track race...he has medals
all over his shirt.
2) Barney has flashbacks of crook, Neal, saying "I'll get you Deputy" (was
it Neal?? not sure)
3) Aunt Bee has visions of Opie Andy and Barney eating her pickles in the
pickle episode.
4) Warren Sleepwalks--dreaming sort of--chasing Helen etc.
5) Otis has fake dreams--when Andy and Barney sing to him after he is
supposedly dead (When he bought the car)...and when he supposedly tells
Barney where he got the liquor..when Barney thinks he is talking to his
subconscious "a little slower please"
Otis also dreamed about pink elephants...but maybe inebriated doesn't count
as a dream.

When Emmett was running for Councilman he dreamed about giving speeches,
shaking hands etc.
...but I know the kind of dream sequence the writer was referring to, and I
don't think there were any, though Opies was the closest.

Hey You All,

Loved the episode the other night about Andys romance with Miss Peggy. Opie
was jealous of it and pretended to be sick. In the end tells Andy about
everything he did to sabotage their romance. I thought it was very sweet how
Andy explained to Opie about his unconditional love for him. Loved it too,
when Andy and Opie took Miss Peggy fishing and she had to tell the worm
"Hello" Catch that one next time its shown if you can. Its well worth it..

I remember one dream sequence on TAGS, and it was a funny one. But it was
during the color years. Howard Sprague decides to run away from it all and
live on a Caribbean Island. But he meets a burned out beach bum at the local
store who asks "You wanna buy a ship in a bottle?" Later Howard dreams that he
is actually the bum when Andy and Aunt Bea come to visit, and he is the one
mumbling, "You wanna buy a ship in a bottle?"

Other than that, the closest to a dream sequence would likely be the classic
"Where did you get the liquor, Otis?" bit...

Subject: Barney being slapped!

Hey all! I've not been a member very long and maybe this has been addressed,
but was just wondering if ya'll had paid any attention to how many times
Barney has been "slapped" by other characters. For example, in the episode
"The Return of Malcolm Merriweather" Malcolm pretends to get drunk so that
Andy will fire him and he says something about gold on the floor and silver on
the table and then slaps Barney on the back. I love that part. Then when Big
Maude is dancing with him and slaps him and says "You're a Treasure". Hmmm,
wonder where that Jackson club got that name? Anyway, I know there were other
times. Just a thought.

Well, you know, I asked Ernest T. for some of his money, but he was savin' $12
for his honeymoon for him and Romeena. So that's that! I don't think we have

The one that really got my attention was in the "Quiet Sam"
episode when Andy and Barney are sitting in the car watching
Sam farm at night, and Barney has a line saying something
like, "maybe he's growing marijuana." The first time I
heard that on TV Land, I thought to myself, did I really
hear Barney mention "marijuana"? I couldn't remember
hearing that word on TAGS before.
