For those of you that get the station, "TURNER SOUTH," they are showing
Mayberry, RFD every morning around 1:30 AM eastern time. You'll need to
check the listings because it changes from night to night, depending on the
movie or sporting event that may be on earlier. They do have a web site to
check the schedule at,
http://alt.turnersouth.com/Schedule/1,3671,TSO|0|311414|Central,00.html.
Just set your VCR and enjoy!

Don't you start, Emmett. If you do, I'm a goner. (I couldn't pass THAT one
up!)

Watched "A Date for Gomer" last night (actually saw parts of it twice on TV
Land), and it reminded me of something that's always bugged me about this
particular episode, and was wondering if it bothered anyone else. Near the
beginning when Barney and Thelma Lou determine that they need to get Thelma
Lou's cousin Mary Grace a date for the Chamber of Commerce dance, the first
person they think of is Andy. Now if Andy is dating Helen at this point, why
would they even consider him? I know this episode was early in Andy and
Helen's relationship, but Barney, Thelma Lou, Andy and Helen seem awful
chummy later in the episode, like they've been frequent double-date
companions. Anyway, just thought I'd gripe about somethin'.

TAGS fans,

If any of you have this year's Far Side desk calendar, there's a truck
in today's (April 18) cartoon marked "Foley's Meats". I wonder if Gary
Larson did that as an intentional tip of the hat to Mayberry or that was
just the name that came to mind?

I did too...question, for those whose TAGS episode guides are handier than
mine. What is the original air date on this episode? Reason I'm asking, I
once saw an old TV Guide listing suggesting this aired the Monday after the
Kennedy assassination...the first day the networks went back to regular
programming after JFK's funeral. Can anyone else confirm this?

Right! Actor Jack Finch played the character Wilbur Finch.

Here's part 2 (this one should be easy): Name a major TAGS character whose
last name is the same as that of a TAGS actor (two different people).

Hey gang,

I was watching the episode called 'Aunt Bee the Crusader' where she stirs up
the crusade for the chicken farmer who's being kicked off his land for the
new highway. Anyway, I noticed one of those things that seems to be put in
just for that episode and I don't recall seeing any other time. What I'm
referring to is the round desk-top lamp Barney uses to interrogate Otis about
half way through the show. If you don't remember, it's the one that he bends
upt to shine in Otis' face and it won't stay up there and Barney has a fit.
I also noticed it stays there throughout the whole show so I don't think
Barney brought it out just for this purpose. Does anyone ever remember
seeing this lamp sit on the desk in the courthouse at any other time. I
don't but I'm not quite the 'trained noticer' some of you are. 'Til next
time...
