I am responding to two questions from yesterday's digest. The first response is concerning the episode, "A Date for Gomer." The first broadcast was on November 25, 1963. I hope that helps you out Dixon! I can't remember seeing that issue of TV guide, for I am only 29! ; ) And for Jacob in Jackson...I saw the same episode that day, "Aunt Bee the Crusador," and I was astounded to see that lamp on Andy's desk as well! I think I know what's happening here, at least in my part of Mayberry. I know that I have been so accustomed to seeing the edited or cut versions of TAGS on the Superstation, etc., and then when TVLand starting airing the program they were showing what I believe to be uncut versions of the episodes. I have noticed many new and beautiful things from the uncut episodes on TVLand that I never "noticed" before, however they were never there before to be "noticed!" That's my hypotheses!
