No, I think they just busted up their still, and in the epilogue they're
talking about their preserves, with Barney in the courthouse trying some and
appearing obviously drunk. In the Post commercial shot for the episode, they
express shock that the grocer is selling Post Sugar Crisp and it's not even a
special occasion. When Andy says it's okay they reveal a large basket full
of the cereal! No jail time though...

inspirational despite those drawbacks. Enjoy!!!"

It's a great movie. I loved the 2 references to TAGS.
I have a feeling Billy Crystal actually toned down
what it was really like, since he worshipped Mickey
Mantle & Maris. Mickey was far more of a foul mouthed
lush than he was portrayed in the film. And Roger was
a heavy chain smoker most of his short life. If you
haven't seen the movie on HBO, please do. I never
have liked Billy Crystal as an actor, but he did great
with this movie.

Hey everybody. I was just wondering, in the episode with the Morrison
sisters, did they put them in jail? I remember Ben and Rubb having to stay
in jail until they liked Andy's singing, but I don't recall if they put the
sisters in jail. Anybody have any info, just send it along. Talk with you
all later, Horatio(Kevin)

The Morrison sisters never went to jail. Andy was to softehearted, I
reckon.
Does anyone remeber the name of the actor playing Aunt Bee's old beau Roger?
Last night The Mummy's Hand was on on AMC and he played a major role in the
film, not really changing all that much. I however; did not get the
credits.
Thak you
Dolly

Has anybody else heard anything about the next 10 columbia house videos
being released? If so when are they going to start appearing, and any word
on which episodes they're going to contain?

Hey ya'll
Well I finally got round to subscribing to the newsletter and it is great. I
love the thing.
I just about have to get my Andy fix every day or I don't feel right. I'm
rearing a new devoted watcher in the form of my son(10 yr old). He loves the
show as much as I and all the lessons learned and fun had watching are one of
the pillars that I build our relationship on. Thank you Andy Griffith.

For my question:
How many episodes does Andy smoke in?
I posed this before and didn't get a direct answer. Something like 5-6 but
now upon further review there are many more. He will never smoke much of a
cigarette though, only a puff or two and then its thrown out. Anyone have a
exact answer?

the ones I can think of are:

Andy delivers the baby
Frank Comstock brings Andy the shotgun
Roger and Aunt Bee

there are more cant think of at the moment

Hey everybody. I was just wondering, in the episode with the Morrison
sisters, did they put them in jail?
>>>

We don't ever SEE them locked in jail, but it is possible that Andy may have
locked them up for a brief time, after their naughtiness. Naughty?
CRIMINALS is what they are!

For those who haven't seen the epilogue, it goes like this: The Morrison
sisters, carrying a bunch of jars, approach Andy outside the courthouse.
Andy thinks they have started making moonshine again, but it turns out they
had "decided to put up preserves." They give Andy a free jar of the
preserves, adding that they had left a jar inside with Barney. Andy goes
inside and finds an inebriated Barney, eating preserves by the spoonful and
grinning goofily -- because the preserves are intoxicating!

When this episode originally aired, it included a commercial for Post Sugar
Crisp cereal. I'm doing this from memory, so it won't be 100% correct, but
here goes:

Sister: Sheriff! We just thought you'd like to know what Leonard Beasley's
selling down to his grocery store.

Andy: You don't mean....

Sister: Post Sugar Crisp! And you can buy as much of it as you want.

Andy: Well, what's wrong with that? It's the sugar-coated cereal with
controlled sweetness -- less sugar than the young'uns would put on
themselves.

Sister: But isn't Post Sugar Crisp only for special occasions?

Andy: Well, lawwww, no! You can eat it any time, any day!

Sister: Well, I expect that makes it all right then.

Andy: (holds up a box of cereal) Try this delicious sugar-coated cereal,
folks. It's gooooood! I appreciate it, and good night.

Hello everyone!

Have not posted in a while, so hello again. Wasnt Leon in the Gold Truck
episode to?

Has there ever been talk of any lost episodes, or has anyone seen cut scenes?
And I still have not heard from any one about the animated TAGS PSA I saw
years ago on our PBS affiliate (it was not a scene from a Scooby Doo Episode
:)

For my public speaking college

>to watch it.

I have given a persuasion speech on TAGS. Did it about 10 years ago, but one
thing I do remember talking about is when Andy is on trail and Barney is on
the stand, to me that is what Mayberry is all about. I also referenced the
Mr. McBeevee episode, when Barney says, "so you do believe in Mr. McBeevee.
Andy, "no, no...but I do believe in Opie." Tears me up thinking about
it....I was actually telling my co-workers about that episode the other day.

The rules of my professor were that we had to grab the classes attention and
have at least 2 visual aids. I came walking from my seat and started
whistling the theme song and then under my button down, which I took off
after reaching the front of the class, was a Barney T-shirt, and I then put
on my TAGS baseball cap.

Hope this gives you some ideas and good luck.

Now class, you're all Mayberryites, so you should know the
answer to today's pop quiz: How big is Mayberry County, in
square miles, and how do you know?

And I don't want to see anyone cheating by looking off
Johnny Paul Mulik's paper.

When you're done, put your pencils down and email the
digest. Those of you who get it wrong are going to stay
after school and darn well clap erasers!

I always assumed that they didn't put them in jail because they
seemed so sincere in their rationale for selling it. They really
didn't think of it as booze but rather as their elixir.
