Thanks to everyone who responded to my plea for model car help. I did locate
a set of decals. I also found out that Chimneyville Hobbies actually makes a
Mayberry set, with decals and a little dome light. Their line of unpainted
human figurines even includes a Barney and an Andy! They don't have a
website, so ask for it at your hobby shop. (That was a free plug...)

For my question:
How many episodes does Andy smoke in?
I posed this before and didn't get a direct answer. Something like 5-6 but
now upon further review there are many more. He will never smoke much of a
cigarette though, only a puff or two and then its thrown out. Anyone have a
exact answer?
the ones I can think of are:
Andy delivers the baby
Frank Comstock brings Andy the shotgun
Roger and Aunt Bee
Also the episode that Gomer lost his job and stays at the Taylor house. Andy
is seen smoking in bed.

Hey ya'll
Well I finally got round to subscribing to the newsletter and it is
great. I
love the thing.
I just about have to get my Andy fix every day or I don't feel right.
I'm
rearing a new devoted watcher in the form of my son(10 yr old). He
loves the
show as much as I and all the lessons learned and fun had watching are
one of
the pillars that I build our relationship on. Thank you Andy Griffith.

Fellow Mayberry citizens..........
I am putting together a website on TAGS
and looking for pictures of the actress
who played "Lucy Matthews" in the
episode with the "Stranger in the town".
Her real name , thanks to mayberry.com database
is Marlene Willis, and she starred in the
movie "Attack of the Puppet People" from the 60's.
But I can't find any "still" photos to put up
on my website.
Please assist where you can..........
By the way, thank you everyone for the ideas
for my speech I am giving. I give it next Wednesday.
I'll keep you all posted.
I'm proud that Mayberry is my home town.
By the way, is anyone aware of at anypoint that
Mt Airy to change name to Mayberry? Just curious.

Subject: Andy as smoker
Somebody asked about episodes in which Andy takes a drag or two:
Andy smokes in the episode where he thinks Aunt Bee and Fred Goss are going
to be married. As he, Aunt Bee and Opie sit on the front porch, he smokes
while they discuss the reasons why this unlikely marriage should take place.
This, in fact, is a particularly smoky episode: of course there's the humor
of watching Mr Goss flick his cigarette ashes onto Otis' suit; Otis himself
smokes a few moments later while talking to Andy at the courthouse. Was a
cigarette manufacturer a sponsor of the program? I recently saw an
interview with Andy Griffith where he mentioned that he was sorry he ever
smoked on the series. By contrast, I can only recall seeing Barney smoking
once: as part of his hardened criminal persona when he locks himself up in
"Citizen's Arrest." However, he mentions to Thelma Lou as they discuss his
dream den that he smokes a pipe. And he stocks up on cigars when he thinks
he's about to become a member of the Esquire Club ... but he isn't seen
actually smoking one. Generally, it's only the villains who smoke.
Remember the shot of Mr Jackson crushing out his cigarette as he assigns his
reporter to get the dirt on Sheriff Taylor? People who come to town to case
and rob the bank, etc. usually are smokers, too.

Subject: Homage to The Taylors Front Porch
Hey everybody,
I've been playing around and I've made a tribute to the old "Front Porch"
that Frank used to run over at Mayberry.org. I'd like for y'all to drop by
and let me know what needs doing to make it just like Frank's place.
The Taylor's Front Porch -
http://www.tagsrwc.com/chitchat/index.html
For those that don't know, the porch is a chatroom type thing that's anybody
with a browser can use easy like. I've added a "bad word" filter and a few
things like that to try and stop problems before they start.
Don't forget that Ollie made his very own homage to the Porch over at
Trivialities (http://abwest.com/trivialities2.php) and I'm not wanting to
take away from that.

Hi Y'all!
The other night TVLand aired the episode where Barney (again) mistakenly
concludes that Andy
and Helen are engaged (after all, Andy DID kiss Helen right there on Main
Street!) and throws
them a big surprise party. Aunt Bee wants to surprise 'em with a "new room"
and proceeds to
redecorate Andy's room. Don't y'all find it a hoot that she had that room
repainted,
rewallpapered, had new curtains put up, new furniture (don't forget the canopy
bed!) , all in
ONE DAY!? ha! I'm gonna get Aunt Bee to come be MY interior decorator!
That episode also tickled me when Aunt Bee and Barney are whispering about
Andy and Helen in
"code".... Barney asks Aunt Bee if Opie knows about "you know who" and "you
know who" and when
Aunt Bee looks puzzled, he says, "you know, A & H!".. ha! Aunt Bee picks right
up on it and
says, no, she thinks "A" should tell Opie himself! Then, Barney agrees and
says something
about Opie gettin' used to having "H" as an "M".....
