Nobody has chimed in with the answer to part IV yet, so here it is one more
time:

What TAGS actor has the same first and last names as someone who lives in
Mayberry? This person did not portray himself / herself.

Both are also in "Back to Nature" but not together. Floyd is in a hilarious
opening scene with Andy and Barney that is usually cut out.

Opie's mom
I think I might have spotted Opie's mom in a recent episode, but I've
simve forgotten which one. regardless, while watching last week I spotted a
framed photograph of an adult woman on Opie's dresser. now I believe it
wasn't Aunt bea, or Rose for that matter which lead me so ask just who would
a bot have a framed picture of? I realize it was only for affect, but I
can't explain the prop any other way. I just caugt a quick glimpse; the
woman had short brown hair, and I don't believe it was helen. so, deducing,
and without making a real moulage out of this, I believe I can say that I
have seen Opie's ma!..

Subject: TAGS Question

Hello All,
The other day I was watching the TAGS episode in which the fake FBI
Agent comes to town to give Andy and Barney a citation for the lowest crime
rate, and I was wondering how many TAGS episodes there were in which the FBI
is mentioned or some reference is made to the FBI. Off hand I can think of a
few more. Of course there's the episode where Barney finds the suitcase of
stolen money and teams up with the crook (impersonating an FBI Agent) while
Andy works with the real Agent. Then there are a couple of episodes in which
references are made to the FBI like the episode in which Barney arrests the
whole town and Floyd jokes that Mayberry should trade Barney for J. Edgar
Hoover. Also the episode in which Andy tells Barney he should send his Peter
Piper Pickle test for drunks to the FBI. Please let me know if you can think
of some more.

Hey everyone,

Quick question, is the guy sitting in the booth behind Andy and Daphnie in
the first episode that the Fun Girls appear in, is he the same guy standing
behind Andy and Barney when Andy is explaining to Barney how to sing "real
low" into the microphone. Just wondering.

Thanks to all for the nice encouragements and congrats on my getting to play
Will Stockdale. The play was a huge success! So much so that, due to demand,
we will be presenting an encore preformance this Saturday night! Anyone who
lives in West Tennessee or West Kentucky (or anyone else willing to travel)
who might like Andy Griffith a little (there may be a few in here LOL!)
might want to see the play. It will be at 7:00 p.m. at the old Dresden
Elementary School in Dresden, TN (Upper northwest corner of Tennessee).
Tickets are $10.00 a piece and will be available only at the door. The
theatre is huge, and there should be room for as many as would like to come.
I hope there will be enough to keep doing the play every weekend (wishful
thinking!). This has been a dream come true!
Also, Friday night, I will be doing an Andy stand-up routine at the
Palmersville Hee-Haw at Palmersville High School in Palmersville, TN. That
starts at 6:30. I have not decided what I am going to do. Maybe What it was
was football, Romeo and Juliet, or Hamlet. Any suggestions as to y'all's
favorite?
Anyhow, just in case anyone wanted to come see the play, I thought I'd let
you know. By the way, does any one else in the chapter ever get to do Andy
stuff like this? If so, please let me/us know! I think it is good wholesome
fun (something lacking today), and, to me, is especially great when a
TAGSRRWC member gets to do it.

Subject: rooms

The question arises often about how many rooms are in Andy's home. The answer
to that is, however many are needed for the episode!
TAGS was not a continuing story, but many different stories and situations
arose that needed special considerations, so the needs fit the story line, if
all that makes sense.
When it first startred they drove a 1960 Ford squad car but in 1963 they
drove a '63 squad car!! Same thing... the situation fit the story! No
continuing story line, many different stories.
That is what made the show so great then and what makes it even greater now!

episodes refered to the day and month of the episode, we got this one, and of
course the X-mas episode. I can't thing of many more, can any of you?

A recent posting regarding Barney's Anniversary episode -

While you're scrambling to find out what's on the wallboard - can anyone
remember what day Barney celebrates his anniversary? There's no mention of
the day but there is a calendar on the wall in the court house and if it is
correct that day is coming up very soon! I think we should all go to that
red checkered tablecloth restaurant (Morrelli's) to celebrate!

Also, I thought it was interesting that Opie charged his friends 5 cents to
see Barney hanging in a neck harness. They'd rather see Barney than buy milk
to keep their bones from going soft.

"What's the matter? Haven't you ever seen a man in a neck harness?"

My Air Force buddy is from Pilot Mountain (Mt Pilot),
I asked him why Andy doesn't visit there.
He said that Andy got pulled over by the cops
for speeding, the cop didn't care that it
was "Andy" and gave him a speeding ticket.
Andy got real mad and said He'd never come there
again. My buddy told me it was big "local" news
when it happened. I think the cop should have learned
the lesson that " You do better not going by the book,
but by the heart ."

Having read several books on Mayberry - where the writers
were interviewed - there is a bit of inconsistency in
scripts because, unlike today, the same people weren't
writing all the scripts.

You're right, of course, Nora and Ollie should've been in
the guest room. But what would've been funny about that? :-D

I think there are as many stories about why Andy doesn't visit Mt. Airy as
there are people in the Mt. Airy area.

The story I heard was that when Andy was a young'en, his family was not very
well off. As such, some of the "well off" folks kind'a treated him and his
family somewhat poorly. After Andy "made it", those same people wanted to act
like they were Andy's BEST friends in the world. Andy sees that as being fake
and he doesn't like that. He likes folks that like him for himself...not
because he's "Andy Griffith."

I think that's why he doesn't "go home" very often. He actually DOES go there
but only rarely and only to visit certain people....the ones that are his true
friends and family.

That's my understanding.

FYI: In the April 2001 issue of Emmy magazine, there is a very nice archive
interview with Earle Hagen, the man behind the music in TAGS. He talks quite
a bit about the Griffith show. I'm not sure how people can get a hold of a
copy, but it's nice... real nice. Perhaps checking with www.emmys.tv. might
help.
