(Sorry - an Anne of Green Gables quote here) Wouldn't it just be the cat's if we could have a choir of WBMUTBB folks? And maybe a men's quartet? My family sings, and I know some of y'all do too. My husband is a great lead, and my daughter's have "Flow Gently, Sweet Afton" and "Santa Lucia" 'bout memorized already...too bad we all live so far-flung all across the Fruited Plain. Bet we could get John Masters to direct... The 11th one is now "Ellie Walker." The "Father and Son" tape I was told may be re-inserted later in the program once all the authorizations have been okayed. Here's a couple of my favorites. In the Episode where there's a REAL hold up at the bank at the end, and the lady looks out the window and screams, and it just cuts to a wide shot of Barney just walking by. Another would have to be when Barney and Andy are in the French Resturant and it just is a shot their hand's holding the menues, and then they slow pull them down and both of them have this really confused look on their face. I wana talk about this more, when i think of some others. Lots of luck to you and yours. Mike : -)> "...know how you can find out? The website isn't meant to be disrespectful at all, it just digs too deep into television characters, none of whom are real. He must be a psychologist. It's a wonder that they didn't talk about how the whole town was an enabler of Otis' alcoholsim! That would have been a hoot. I think people (myself included) sometimes take television a little too seriously, twisting the supposed "hidden meanings" of the plots and characters to fit their own secular and religious views. The great thing about TAGS is that it's just good fun. Morals are never shoved down our throats, but presented by the writers and cast as gentle examples, through comedy. It appeals to so many people, not just certain specific groups......Dag nabbit, now I sound like I'm analyzin'! Viva Andy! I remember 5 times the TV was on: 1. When Gomer was the houseguest. 2. To watch the quiz show when Aunt Bee won. 3. Andy and Helen watching while Barney and Goober watched them. 4. When Howard was on Uncle Tim's Talent show. 5. The Keevy Hazelton show when he sang Clara and Aunt Bee's song. I believe it was on when Aunt Bee bought the ill-fated 150 lbs. beef - Opie commented on it. Personally, I'd rather hear Leonard Blush sing on the radio than watch TV - except of course for TAGS. I said 'SOME"Do you have their real names? 1. Aunt Bees niece who came to stay with them cause she got in an argument with her husband and eventually went back to him. 2. The blonde nurse who dated Andy (the thin one) 3 Millie Swanson 4 The two platinum blonde women who showed up to go dancing with Ang and also with "Burrrr-Neee" 5. Betty Lynn..(She was my favorite) Also.3 more questions.. 1. Why was Hope Summers name in the show changed from Mrs Johnson to Clara Edwards? (She was an excellent actress) 2. Were there any well known"friction" between actors on the set? 3. Were Aunt Bee's pickles THAT bad? The Keevy Hazelton show when he sang Clara and Aunt Bee's song. Anybody got any more? dan >>> Hey, that's a good question. Here are a few more for the list (I propose we narrow this down to just the Taylors' set): 6. Before Howard takes off for the Caribbean, he watches a travel program with Andy and Aunt Bee (in "Howard's New Life"). 7. In "Bargain Day," Opie frantically reports that the TV is malfunctioning. "Paw, Paw, the television's going crazy! The picture's crooked and fallin' down the stairs!" (We don't SEE anyone watching TV in this episode, but it must have been on). 8. Warren watches a dance movie in "Girl-Shy," right before he dances with Aunt Bee (BTW, for anyone keeping track of episodes in which we see Aunt Bee dance, she also dances with Opie in "Look Paw, I'm Dancing" and she square-dances in "Aunt Bee the Swinger.") 9. Aunt Bee and Andy watch a legal drama during "Aunt Bee the Juror." 10. Andy and Opie watch Aunt Bee's short-lived cooking show, "The Mayberry Chef." 11. The Taylor family watches a Foster's Furniture Polish commercial "The Foster Lady." - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Jun 2001 17:21:31 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Favorite Andy Griffith Show Lines What are your Favorite lines from TAGS? It's usually his reaction to something. Remember when he was the real estate agent and Opie cost him a deal...he followed the family out begging, then stuck his head back in the door, shot Andy a nasty look, and ran off?! Hilarious! Another favorite: that wide-eyed look of panic Barney gets--like when Opie is flirting with Helen over the phone and she wants to know who's with him. Barney says no one and Opie says--you guess it--"Barney says no one!" His reaction is priceless. Others include him adoring himself in the mirror. Remember when he was primping once, using a picture of Rock Hudson as a model? It's a very brief shot (less than one second in duration) during the scene where Barney gives a technical explanation" of how the radio works: "You talk in here, and you listen in here. That's the explanation.">> Barney is also seen talking into the microphone in the episode in which the state police hold a manhunt in Mayberry. It's one of the very first episodes, perhaps even number 2? Anyway, he reaches into the car (1960 model) and pulls it out, but we never see the radio, just the mike and the cord. And we never hear who he's talking to, either. Goober claimed to have seen a comedy show about a talking dog (perhaps a rerun of "The People's Choice"), just before mentioning *his* talking dog to Floyd. Goober was also a "Gunsmoke" fan, having picked up Chester's limp, and a tipsy Aunt Bee (in "Aunt Bee's Medicine Man") refers to Andy and Barney as "Marshall Dillon" and "Chester." And don't forget Barney's standing date with Thelma Lou, a pan of cashew fudge between them, as they watched "that doctor show on TV." (Which could have been either Dr. Kildare or Ben Casey at the time.) Dixon ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 7 Jun 2001 19:13:00 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: The Legend of Barney Fife Hi folks, I thought I would join the discussion of the color episodes. I love all TAGS and have several favorite in color. One in particular, is "The Legend of Barney Fife" due to some very brilliant and touching writing. The scene at the end when Barney and Andy are talking, always gets to me. Goes something like this... Barney: "Listen, when you talk to him(Farley), uh, kinda swing the credit to Warren for the capture there, will ya?" Andy: "Swing the credit to Warren? He wasn't even close by." Barney: "Yea, I know,,,, sometimes it ,,, don't hurt to shade things a little when you want to help somebody." Andy: "Yea,,, I suppose." Barney: "After all, Ange,,, I've had my place in the sun here for a lot of years,, and now, a nice fellow like that comes along, and,, a little pat on the back ,,, make him feel good. It's his town out there now, Ange, it's not mine." That scene always puts a lump in throat. I can practically feel the emotion Barney puts into those lines. It was a fitting end to a script that had Warren practically worshipping Barney for being a "Living Legend" and Andy, as always, the true friend. And may I add, the humorous dialogue between Goober and Barney about fixing his car, is priceless! - --Eileen ------------------------------ End of wbmutbb-digest V3 #158 ***************************** ************************************************** ~ Visit our sponsor ~ Weaver's Department Store ~ http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/weavers/ ************************************************** You must send your comments to the Digest from the address you used to join WBMUTBB or your message will not be posted.
