Actually, I think the man's got some good ideas and thoughts, if you want to take the show that seriously. And the point about the color episodes is well made. It's interesting that "Andy" did so well in the ratings when the quality dropped so sharply. It's like MASH after Henry Blake and Trapper John departed after the third season. How can you figure it out? A lot of publicity defeats ability all too often. There was an interesting New York Times story yesterday on shows that went over the top and lost their appeal. The theory was called "Jumping the Shark" after a Happy Days episode where Fonzie did just that. "Andy" didn't jump the shark -- it merely faded away. And no, I'm not blasting the color episodes. It's like some food -- it just isn't that tasty. But color or black and white, the whole point to the show is the relationship between Barney and Andy. Once that's lost the appeal diminishes.
