A few years ago my daughter gave me a wonderful gift(knowing I love TAGS)
....a little book, "Life's Lessons from Mayberry". It is a delightful (and
wise) book of quotes taken from different shows . It was written by John
and Len Oszustowicz and is published by The Summit Publishing Group,
Arlington, [EMAIL PROTECTED] or www.summitbooks.com
A sample, "Sometimes we hurt our friends most when we try to be funny".
(Townsfolk made fun of Barney when he arrested them for minor violations.
They didn't understand his sincerity).

I just had some fun! I ran a search on Ernest T. Bass and found 3 - 1 in
Florida and 2 in Pennsylvania.
Anyone else done a name search to see if there are other actual people with
the same names somewhere out there?

All this talk about TAGS on the radio reminds me of my friend, Joe.
Blind from birth, Joe loves radio the way sighted folks love TV. He
did tell me one day that he loves to "listen" to
our favorite show. He said it was easy to follow the action just by
what the people were saying.
That says alot for the writers, doesn't it?

Subject: Barney at the trailer park

<<then he and Andy catch up with him and
his girlfriend at a trailer park. That's where Barney highjacks the car
pulling their trailer, driving it right up to the courthouse door. >>

The funniest thing about this scene to me was when he was crouched in front
the car. When he thinks the girl is going to drive away, he braces himself
against the grill - puts his arms out to the side like he thinks he can keep
the car from moving. That cracks me up.

>>>Andy's wife died. Can't remember the name of the episode, but in the
first year, there is a photo of her on Opie's desk in his bedroom. Aunt Bee
mentions how much Opie looks like his "dear beloved mother before she died".
>>>

Have you been hittin' the mulberry squeezin's? This never happened. In no
episode does Aunt Bee ever mention Opie's mother, nor do we ever see a photo
of her. The photo on Opie's desk is more likely a picture of a young
Beatrice Taylor.

Perhaps you're remembering a scene involving Bobby and a photo of his
departed mother on The Brady Bunch, or something from some other series.

Re V 3- 175 - Barney's Finest Moment

(1) Ya know, I thought that was really interesting also! It took a lot of
courage and initative, for Barney to have taken that step. In the version
I saw, not much was made of it and I don't remember Andy congratulating
Barney for his actions. - But, I have noticed that sometimes the stations
not only don't show the epilogue, but actually cut scenes from the episode
in order to meet their time frames.

(2) I have another observation of my own. Much is made of Barney's less
that melodic voice in many episodes = Who could forget Episode #52, "Barney
and the Choir"? He was so bad he had to be silent and let someone else sing
for him.

HOWEVER, there were three or four episodes when Barney sang with Andy and
others and sounded FINE. Especially I remember Epidsode #115, "Hot Rod
Otis" when Andy and Barney make Otis think he has died and gone on.
Barney sings and harmonizes BEAUTIFULLY with Andy on the civil war song,
"The Vacant Chair." Was any explanation made as to how Barney could be so
bad one time and so good another?

What ever happened to Miss Peggy. Does anyone know if she is still alive and
if so what is she doing now. I loved her singing on the porch with Andy.. so
sweet/

I have several "Dennis The Menace" episodes on tape, and remember seeing
Ronnie Howard as one of the neighborhood children that was friends with
Dennis. I would guess that he was 4 or 5 years old at that time. Guess that
he moved to Mayberry later on.

Just wanted to say that I was channel surfing one night and happen to run up
on Helen in a movie in which she played a nun. I didn't watch the movie
because I don't usually start one if I can't see the beginning, but it
definently was Helen and I believe it was showing on TCM or AMC. I was
shocked at the fact my husband (which is not a trained noticer) noticed her
before I did. I think he is finally starting to become "one of us".

Lots of luck to you and yours!

Folks talking about Aneta Corsaut (did I spell that right?) and The Blob got
me to thinking about her reaction to the film. From what I remember, she
was actually embarrassed about the film and made sure she was out of the
country when it premiered.

As to her work post-TAGS, I do remember her with a recurring role in one of
those hospital shows. She played a nurse.
