Subject: Thelma Lou's Marriage

Regarding Wayne in Eden's theory that Thelma Lou's husband was dead in Return
to Mayberry. When Andy met Thelma Lou at the cemetary she was placing
flowers on one of her relative's graves. I believe it was mentioned that
Thelma Lou and her husband's marriage did not work out and they were
divorced. Regarding the Return to Mayberry episode, I always wondered why
they didn't use Aunt Bee's real voice when Andy was remembering. It seemed
so out of place not to use an actual voice clip of one of the TAGS episodes.
Anyone have an explantion? How about it Paul, if anyone should know it has
got to be you.
"There's no doubt about it, Paul is the smartest man I have ever known."

I thought the truck was Gomer's for some reason. It just looks like a Gomer
sort of
truck.

"Andy the boys said they was just mulberry squeezin's. (Drink...cough) Yep,
that's
all they are...mulberry squeezin's." (another favorite and very funny line by

That's not quite how it happened. The grave Thelma Lou kneeled at was Uncle
Ephram's grave. She talked about how he was the first to have a
convertible. Thelma Lou, unfortunately was divorced. In an early scene in
the movie Barney talkes about how short a time the marriage lasted.

Actually I think she was paying respects to another relative; Barney kept
tabs on Thelma Lou over the years and said her marriage to the construction
guy only last 18 months or so. But the two did get married--finally--at the
end of "Return to Mayberry."

But I thought she didn't learn to drive until the color years, when she got
that Ford Sunliner convertible from Goober?

BTW sorry about the last email getting away from me again. Guess I need to

There once was an aunt named Bee,
Whose pickles were rancid, you see..
They tasted like gas with kerosene and mash
why didnt she try CLARAS Recipe?.

There once was a man named Fife..
Whose judo chop cut like a knife
If there was ever a riot he would "go ahead and try it"
cause he learned all he knew in Mt Pilot.

There once was a man named Srague
When asked out on a date..he was vague..
Caused he lived with his mom, all his life long,
And avoided the "babes" like the plague.

Best of luck to you and yours

Someone has probably already said this and I just missed it, but....

My memory of the episode (when Aunt Bea is feeling unwanted and is leaving
Andy's) includes an unknown man, wearing a hat, sitting in the driver's seat
as Andy prepares to help Aunt Bea get into the truck. You could only see
the back of his head through the back window of the truck and only for a
second or two. It didn't appear to be Andy's truck at all (to me, that is).

I emailed Columbia House a few weeks ago to see if it had plans to release
TAGS on DVD. The response I received simply said TAGS was not available on
DVD, which I already know. They did not answer my question as to if and when
it would be available. Maybe someone else has heard some more specifics and
can pass that along.

Since the bus stop is about two minutes down the street from the Taylor
home and Mayberry was such a safe place back then (don't ya just wanna'
move there?) I'll bet Andy didn't think twice about leaving little Opie
home alone. He already knew how to catch a fish and play baseball; and
don't forget his 45-minute eggs! LOL A very self-sufficient little
moppet if ever there was one!

I'd like to put my two cents in on this.... misspoovey was a little
child about the same time the Opie character was. We lived out in the
country for a while and we also lived in a medium sized town. I can
easily remember waking up and my mom had run next door to the neighbor's
or down to the market for a few things. As a five year old, I can
remember riding my bike by myself to the park so I could play in the
public wading pool or down to the candy store to spend my nickel. Both
of these places were at least 6 blocks away. I can remember going home
for lunch and my soup and sandwich sitting at my place on the kitchen
table. Mom might have had a doctor appointment or a club meeting. Now I
think I had real good, sensible parents; they had had me and my sister
very late in their lives, so they weren't a couple of dumb kids just
starting out. I just think it was a different world, a time when a kid
could be left alone in the house for a short period of time now and
then. Back then, the whole neighborhood were your parents. If an adult
told you to stop doing something, you STOPPED! After getting caught in
some extremely bad yet clever mischief, I can recall getting a little
spanking from my friend's dad, then getting one from my own dad when I
got home! (if you're wondering what I did, e-mail me personally...it's
a pretty good story!:-D)

So in a town like Mayberry, I can't imagine that leaving a sleeping
child alone for 15 minutes was considered bad parenting. In fact,
leaving the child to sleep benefits him more than dragging him out of
bed so you can run a errand with Jr. in tow.

So my point is, we are talking about the early 60's. We knew and trusted
our neighbors and felt safe in our homes. Of course, today this would
not happen in real life OR a sitcom. My step daughter is 9 and I
wouldn't DARE leave her sleeping to run down to the store. It just ain't
the same !

Subject: Will Rodney Dillard have another show?

So glad we got to see Rodney Dillard's show last year here in Branson. He did
not bring his show back this year. Even though I have asked this question
a few months ago, does any body know if Rodney is going to have another
Mayberry-type
show in Branson any time soon? thanks.
