I have an old vinyl LP Broadway cast album of "Destry Rides Again" starring Jack Prince and none other than Andy Griffith as Destry. You may recall that James Stewart played Destry in the movie. There is quite a lot of good singing from both Jack and Andy. "I lived for two years with a possum and a raccoon too! That's where I learned to wash my food befor I eat it." There's one "Goin' Fishin" which is similar to the front of the box of the TAGS Trivia Game and a second one "Mayberry TV Set". If you like doing puzzles, I highly recommend these two....they are A-One quality! I worked the "Goin' Fishin" last weekend and puzzle saved/glued it together. It's gonna look mighty fine matted and framed! I originally was just gonna do the one but then I got hooked. I did the "Mayberry TV Set" today as I watched the RFD Marathon. Tomorrow I will puzzle save/glue it together and reckon I will frame that one too. The puzzles are 500 pieces and really interesting to do! I love the look of puzzles that are framed nicely under non-glare glass. They look like prints from a distance. I just wish Mr. Weaver could find some more different puzzles to add to his store's collection! I once almost got my brother's Indian ring-necked parakeet to whistle the theme but he stopped after the first 16 notes and wouldn't learn anymore so I gave up. Due to career choice, I missed many episodes of both shows. Can someone tell me if an explaination was ever given for the absence of Andy on RFD ? Also, where did Andy supposedly go, and who took over as Sheriff after Andy left ? In Mayberry RFD they don't tell who is Sheriff now. I did see that Andy and Helen Crump did finally get married and had a baby. And where was Opie when the baby was christened ? Thanks for any answers that were in the script that I have missed. One of the saddest times in my life was realizing that it's all gone now, everybody has gone their separate ways, and I guess that it's what happens in real life, but as long as we have this wonderful TAGS site we have the consolation of knowing that we're not alone in our sorrow. Best of all, it's nice to know that Mayberry can never truly die, it's just scattered itself into the hearts of hundreds of people just like me who live all over the world. God love and bless every one of you. Frank C. I've been watching and taping but then we were without electric and/or cable for about 8 hours between 6am and 2pm today (Sunday). I am back on track now, but I hate to have lost those hours. TVLand doesn't show RFD as much as other shows, but since it was on, I thought I'd tape the marathon. I don't remember seeing a lot of these before, and although it is not the same without Ange and Barn and Opie, it is a part of the Mayberry years,so I wanted to tape the shows. I hope TVLand starts showing the RFD's regularly! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Jul 2001 23:50:26 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: R.F.D. Hello All, It has been a while since I last posted, so "hello!" This weekend I got to see more of RFD than I ever had. I have always been intrigued by these Mayberry stories that I was always ignorant ("your just being nice") of. What struck me was that I never felt I was at "home". It is as if this show was written "about" the real place that is Mayberry. RFD felt more like episodes of "Leave it to Beaver" or "I Love Lucy", deriving its laughs from the absurdity that Mayberry seem to become in the later "color" episodes, rather than focusing on more relationship based humor that existed between Andy, Barney, Opie and Bee in the B/W. This phenomenon seemed to be the same fate the eventually ruined the sitcom "Newheart." Now of coarse I do appreciate the characters that were able to survive in RFD and a few of the moments I caught were touching. However, I felt as if Mayberry was skirting too close to reality, threatening to ruin the magic the original show created. Anyway, sorry for the rant. Take care. "HOLD IT! Helen is not a dame!"
