They went out of their way to explain Goober's role in law enforcement, for instance. What really surprised me was in the second episode, when I realized for the first time that they did, indeed, address Howard's previous relationship with Millie before she started dating Sam. Apparently Howard was great with her dating Sam (I would've have an issue or two, but Howard's a better man than I). In fact, I noticed even in the third season, when the whole bunch was together Millie often sat closer to Howard than Sam, like an affectionate friend. BTW my favorite RFD episode (other than the first one, with Andy, Barney & Helen) is the one when Howard, Goober and Emmett came to paint Sam's house. That was surprisingly well done and very faithful to the spirit of TAGS... I'm new to the board. I watched as many episodes as I could over the weekend and had forgotten what a nice show RFD was. It brought back a lot of memories. I thought the episode where Howard moves to a bachelor pad was hilarious, imagine that they had apartment complexes back then for singles only. And the episode where Sam and Millie get together was bittersweet, because poor Goober lost out. Well, I WAS WRONG!!! Even my husband fell in love with the show. You know what he said about it? Things looked different in town, but that quickly was forgotten by us, because the show was like another whole, different show. I got about 8 hours on tape; glad I let that vcr run, because I got the Baby christening AND Andy and Hellen's wedding. I STIll do not know why Barney was there on that porch with the honeymooners.. something about Barney being in the same hotel?....that look on Andy's face in the closing shots could have committed "murder", almost( against Barn).
