one to introduce her TAGS?

Most likely you didn't imagine it...there was one other notable discrepancy
in that episode too. Goober repeatedly claimed to have gotten Andy and Helen
together and no one ever challenged him. Fact of the matter is, Andy
already knew Helen from her being Opie's teacher; if anyone deserves credit
for getting the two together romantically it would most likely be Barney and
Thelma Lou...

Does anybody recall if they ever mentioned whatever became of Andy Jr. in

In several of the episodes that i watched of RFD this weekend, Goober made
mention that he was the residing deputy-sheriff, but there was never any
mention of mayberry having a sheriff anymore
"I didn't realize that
Goober hooked Andy and Helen up...I thought they met because she was mad at
Andy about the History class when she first came to town"-I distinctly
remember this episode about "ol` lady crump" being introduced on the show as
opie`s history teacher(as i recall, she was every teacher he ever had that
was mentioned)-she was mad at andy with interfering with her teaching, and
came to the courthouse to give him a piece of her mind-expecting someone much
older, andy stands and says"you`re not ol` lady crump"-and the rest, as they
say, is history!-and that is how they met-i dont recall anything in the story
at all about goober introducing them-i think sometimes, the producers dont
remember the story lines as well as the fans!

Loved the Mayberry RFD episode with Howard's deviated septum. Can't
understand why Goober got so bent out of shape when Howard thought he had
appendix trouble and it turned out to be all in his head. Didn't Goober
remember how he acted when he said he had whiplash from that little accident
at the filling station. How soon we forget.

I was watching Jeopardy yesterday night, being as I am an extreme trivia
nut, and much to my surprise and delight, they had a category called "The
Andy Griffith Show"!!! I usually keep track of how I do and which answers I
got right (I guess along to the contestants), and I'm happy to say I got
every question in the TAGS category right!!! I believe the category was in
Double Jeopardy, but I didn't think it was very hard!!! I guess all that
TAGS watching paid off. Now, if only I was really on the show when that
category came up!

Must say - The Groovy Miss Poovey has it RIGHT. In the "Return to
Mayberry" movie, the premise was that Sheriff Patterson had died and Andy (
and perhaps Barney) were considering running for Sheriff. That was the way
"The Andy Griffith Show" portrayed it.
HOWEVER, what you may not know is that there was a REAL SHERIFF PATTERSON
in Andy's hometown, Mount Airy, NC. while Andy was a teenager living there.
The real Sheriff Patterson was a very special person with an unusual story
and he had a great influence on the people in Mount Airy during the 12
years of his service.
I have an entire Chapter devoted to Sam Patterson in my upcoming book. I
think you will find Sheriff Patterson's story to be very interesting, and
see how his example might have influenced how Andy developed the character
of Sheriff Andy Taylor. Since I grew up in Mount Airy at the same time
Andy did, I know the impact Sheriff Patterson had on the community.
To answer a number of inquiries, my book, "MEMORIES OF MAYBERRY, A
Nostalgic Look at Andy Griffith's Hometown, Mount Airy, North Carolina"
will be available in September. I will be at Mayberrry Days and the book
will be also be available at Weavers. I will have a illustration of the
cover and a copy of the Preface available on my website within the next two
weeks. Check out: memoriesofmayberry.com

I have been checking, and as far as I know TAGS in not currently available on
DVD as a complete set. Our best bet is probably Columbia House because it is
doing a fine job with TAGS video tapes. However, it has yet to begin making
DVDs of Andy. I have not seen the few episodes that are available from a
vairety of companies on DVD but they seem to get mixed reaction as to the
quality.

Hi all, I am very upset with a local TV station in our viewing area, WHNT
Channel 19 out of Huntsville, Al. If any of the TAGS fans watch The
Andy Griffith \show either by TV or on line at 4:00 & 4:30pm each day,
please go to
http://www.whnt19.com/global/Frameset.asp?P=/Default.asptsville, then go
to their feedback line and let them know we want Andy!!! Starting in
August they are replacing TAGS with a talk show host, similar to Queen
Laftia. So I beg you, please go to their web site and voice your opinion,
you can do this as many times as you want to, that's why they have this
feedback line. So please take a few minutes and visit their web site and
speak out, I would appreciate it very much. This is the time for all men &
women to stand together and let's give them the BIG FREEZE. Thank you
all. I hope we can nip this in the bud, they tried this back about a year
ago and thank goodness their was so much fuss, they took the Dr. Laurel
show off and put her in another time slot and replaced TAGS. But this time
I need everyone to help me out. Thanks and I hope we can save Andy and the
gang.

I was gone over the weekend, but I managed to tape several episodes of
Mayberry RFD. As I was watching one of the episodes last night, my husband,

this? Could it be the same house?

I should have said that there wasn't a sheriff on Mayberry RFD after Andy
moved away -- that's what the original question was about. Obviously,
Mayberry County elected a new sheriff sometime between the end of Mayberry
RFD (1971) and Return to Mayberry (1986).

No such set has ever been produced. The best you can do (for now, anyway)
is to buy the VHS tapes from Columbia House. So far, there are 12 tapes
with 4 episodes each, but if enough folks keep buying them, then maybe
they'll issue the entire series eventually.
I do have a suggestion for some of you technically-minded folks, though.
Has anybody ever tried to convert TAGS episodes to a digital format like
.mpeg or .avi? The episodes could then be stored on CD-ROM, which wouldn't
deteriorate over time the way VHS tapes do.
