She did countless TV shows besides TAGS including Maverick, Gunsmoke, Untouchables, Dick Van Dyke, Gomer, Adam 12, Bewitched, MASH, and Little House on the Prairie to name a few. She also appeared in countless films including "Spencer's Mountain" with TAGS Alum Lillian Bronson and with Don Knotts in "The Ghost & Mr. Chicken." Her last documented, credited appearance was a movie entitled "Foul Play" from 1978 with Goldie Hawn, Chevy Chase, Dudley Moore, and Brian Dennehy to name a few. Did you know she was the original voice for the Mr.s Butterworth syrup and that she was also a series regular in the 1950s on the TV series "The Rifleman"? Sadly, Hope passed away in June of 1979 of heart failure at the Motion Picture Home in Woodland Hills, CA. Hope everyone is OKAY in MAYBERRY. All this week I have watched in amazement and reminisced about these color episodes with" ole Goober." It reminded me that when I was growing up he was my favorite character on the show. And as time goes on, he gets better and better. Has anyone seen the headline on CNN this morning (Friday, 7/13) about the developer from North Carolina planning a new shopping center or shopping mall based on TAGS. Wouldn't that be "the cats"....! I'd sure like to be a part of planning that. Another good one would be "Sermon for Today" as it seems to have the same message but with the roles reversed. Has anyone ever thought, what would have happend if Malcom Tucker had broken down on the same Sunday that the New York Minister was visiting? What would have been the outcome? Would Mr. Tucker have taken charge and organized the Band concert? Would Gomer have had his truck stolen and a spider bite all on the same Sunday afternoon? But all I can hear is Shep whining and "Randy" hollering "Shep! Shep!". At the end, it says "Well, that was a surprise." Am I missing something here? Does anyone know what type of fan that is? I have some old Dominion fans so I know it's not one of those. Over time, I was housesitting for a friend who has a DVD recorder. And over 23 years of videotaping, I've acquired all of the episodes in their entirety through different sources. So I was able to record the complete set onto DVD. However, here's the catch. In Hollywood's neverending fear that copying may take place in mass quantities, they made sure that DVD recorders are not compatible with regular DVD players. Therefore, even though I have a complete set on DVD, I can only play them back on my friend's player/recorder, and not even on my own player. I did this because someday when prices come down, I will have my own recorder to play them back on. So, please don't e-mail me for dubs of the discs because they won't play on your players either. And of course I was joking about selling them on Ebay. One, because it's illegal, and B, because it's incompatible. In one or two years, Pioneer will have a blue/violet laser DVD recorder which should enable one to record all 249 episodes on about four or five discs. Sorry for any misunderstanding I may have caused. - -Bob ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 13 Jul 2001 23:10:36 -0500 From: "Michael L. But, you haf to > have the same entire name to be a "II." Anyhow, that's how I see it! I totally disagree with this statement. My dad and I have the same first name (and, of course, last name), but we have different middle names, and I am not a "Jr." By the way, I am tired of the whining from you black-and-white-only people. A color TAGS, or for that matter RFD, is better than 95% of the rest of what's on TV. If you don't want to watch them -- fine -- but why pollute the list with your griping? mike jackson ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Jul 2001 10:39:09 -0500 From: taylortk <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: WHNT comments regarding TAGS Hello all, I want to thank each of you that have e-mailed WHNT regarding them taking the TAGS off the air from 4-5pm each day, I have attached the letter that their producer sent to me on Fri.
