On the one hand, we should keep in mind WHNT obviously has enough faith in
TAGS to put it on in a slot usually reserved for the likes of "Wheel of
Fortune" and "Hollywood Squares." But on the other hand, it also puts it
opposite the second half of an hour block of "Andy" on TV Land. Oh well. At
least it's still airing in Huntsville...

"Pollute?" "Griping?" "Whining?" I thought this was friendly list. Let's
play nice okay? Surely we can disagree without being "tired" of
"you...people." This is the part where Andy would've said "Boys! Boys!" to
Floyd, Goober and Barney...

I wanted to let everyone know that Sam Edwards (Sam Muggins in the Christmas
episode and Lester Scobie in Andy Forecloses) will be appearing at The
Memphis Film Festival in, you guessed it, Memphis! The show is August 1-4
and I don't know all of the days that he will be there, but I was told by the
promoter that he will be there signing autographs on Saturday, August 4.
I've tried finding photos of him from TAGS but I'm not coming up with any.
If you're going, I'll probably see you there!
PS I'm sure that the celebrities at this show will charge for their
autographs.

Didn't Andy tell Opie one time that he loved him because he was his son and
not for the things he does or doesn't do...?!

Whether to be a "jr" or a "II" : Years ago, I heard this explanation: If the
names are identical (given to the son)
you were a "II". You were to use a "jr." if named for someone OTHER THAN THE
FATHER, but WAS a relative, like a favorite uncle, etc.
Whether that is true anymore, I do not know.

As to; I was just thinking about TAGS and couldn't remember
anyone ever saying "I love you" to anyone or about
anything.
I distinctly remember Ernest T. yelling to Miss Crump; "I
love you! I love you! IIIIIIIIIIIIIII Luuuuuuuuuv YOU!"
Does that count?
Also when Aunt Bee was thinking of marrying Mr. Goss Andy
intervened with his "love of the marrying kind" speech
which did not say, "We love you Aunt Bee" but certainly
implied it.
I'm sure there are others but these two times come
immediately to mind.
All the best to your and yours,
Rev. Joe

Hey! I watched the tape of Hellen and the new baby. Some readers say she
looked too old ? to have a new baby?
'First thing I thought of was how good she looked; her face was softer and
she looked "relaxed" and was missing that "stern look" she always seemed to
have. I thought her lighter colored hair and little flip on the ends made her
look younger. Of course, I turned 51 recently so I do not think she looked
"old". haha

Subject: barney`s mother
does anyone remember an episode where they actually showed barney`s mom? i
was searching through another tagsrwc web site(altough not as good as this
one!), and they had listed as a character on the show, barney`s mom, played
by lillian culver-i remember him talking about his mother (how neither one of
them liked for their hats to be messed with), but cannot recall an episode
with her on there-unfortunately, the site didnt say which episode it was
referring to, and didnt seem to be anybody to ask-much obliged!

I agree with you Mike, even though everybody has their
preference........TAGS is by far better than 99%of the
JUNK that is presented on tv as entertainment.Maybe
that's why the fans of TAGS are growing and growing.
As for the "words never heard",were you listening???
Why Ernest T. declared his love for
Ramona,Charlene,and Mrs.Crump on various episodes.And
remember at the dance when the music was so loud that
Barney had to shout to Thelma Lou that he loved
her? Also,in a different vein,Andy told Opie that he
loved him numerous times, though that was as I say a
different type of declaration. And what about the
episode when Opie had a crush on Mrs. Crump? Did
howard tell Millie that he loved her when he
proposed,or was he too shy?

My understanding is that, if you are named after your dad, with the same
first, middle and last names, you are normally a "Jr.". Subsequent
generations with the same name are then "III", "IV", etc. If, however, you
are named after another relative (same first, middle and last name), such a
an uncle, you are a "II".
Now, I am named after my dad, but I am a "II". My mother says they didn't
like "Jr.", so they broke the rules.

Good observation, Kelly.
Brings up a good point...
...In Mayberry, you didn't HAVE to say it, you just automatically knew it.
Now if you are looking for those three little words in a romantic kind of
setting, there wasn't much of that going on because in Mayberry, people dated
for long periods of time, believed in long engagements and well, just look at
Gomer's momma and daddy...they just shook hands on their deal.

A responce to the tags member posting the letter from the T.V. station taking
tags off the air during the week. The letter that you posted from the
station manager was a smoke screen if I ever saw one. The decision to put on
a talk show with a host that probably 99.9% of us haven't even heard of will
replace TAGS can possibly be handled another way. If you think about it
there are sponsors for the program, without these sponsors dollars there will
possibly be no show. Take your case to the local sponsors and find out what
they think. You may be surprised to find out how much these sponsors may
listen to the general public on what shows you watch. After all at least
locally, you decide where you spend your dollars. This manager at the T.V.
station will take another look at their decision on what to air if their
ratings share drops when this new show goes on air. This may seem like a
different way of getting their attention, but when the subject is viewer &
sponsors dollars the management at the station will look at the situation in
a different light (probably tinted GREEN).

One more... Who could possibly forget Ernest T. Bass's declaration of love
outside her house - right about the time he threw the rock through her
window. "I love you, Miss Crump. I luuuuuuuv you!"
