Well I've missed a few digests lately - they were having a sale on black
socks somewhere and I had to go out and find them. Anyway, Andy Griffith's
REAL middle name is Samuel so I guess that's why they used it on MFRD to
christen that little 'ol baby.

Andy told Opie that he loved him more than anything in the world - one of the

<<I noticed that many scenes in RFD were composed in blue: did Sam own
any other shirt than that bright blue one? Maybe this has been kicked
around before, but why all the green in the color episodes of TAGS?
Everything is green: the courthouse, Andy's house, most of the clothes.
And a lot of greens that clash: bright green with avocado, for
instance! There's a lot of green in RFD, too, but more blue, it seems.
Does anybody know the reason for this? I'm guessing it was considered a
pleasing, restful color -- or maybe they just got a great deal on green
paint!>>
Methinks you need to adjust the color on your TV.

was
struck how far we have come, when Sam and Howard wanted to take a camping

Barbara go without her. Howard pipes up with how absolutely inappropriate
that would be. Millie does go on the camping trip. Barbara and Millie share a
tent while Howard and Sam share another, Barb>>
YO.. Barb - I would say how "far we have fallen," rather than how "far we
have come". I think of the word "Come" meaning a forward or positive thing
rather than wallowing in the dangers of co-ed camping. Did I really say
that !!!!!

I have a couple of w/o/c episodes from the trading circuit, one of which is
the series finale ("Mayberry R.F.D.," the one about the Italian immigrant
family that moves to Mayberry), and they do, indeed, have Colin Male's
opening annoucements.

Hi Gang....
Been awhile for me to write, but read it everyday, and once in awhile
the ole number 1 TAGS fan in this part of Indiana has to jump in and
remind you if Barney were writing on the bulletin board he would yell
NIP IT. Let's just all keep it Mayberry, and of general interest to our
worldy population in a fun non critical way.
Love the NICK-AT-NITE sunday night specials. I have a suggestion for a
theme. How about some sunday showing all those hillarious "pick at Ben
Weaver" episodes like the one with the street merchant, etc. Wil Wright
was a great actor in the part of Ben. Elinor Donahue told me a couple
of years ago about how much fun it was working with him in the Christmas
episode.
Well thats it, keep smilin and keep good old rule # 2 at the top of your
list.

<<I guess I saw just ONE too many ads. Please forgive me!!>>
Now don't go punishin' yourself inside. I thought maybe you had just got a
haircut and the hairs were ticklin' the back of your neck down inside your
collar. Sometimes that makes a man irritable. Also, a man who's not married
gets irritable - and the longer he stays unmarried, the more irritable he
gets. This alone might cause him to complain about ads. Personally, I
forgive you and I'm sure all God's children forgive you too.
Linda - this Goober's just full of forgiveness among other things.

I don't know either, but I remember my grandads wearing long sleeves and
sports coats in the summer. That was in the late 50's and 60's in Oklahoma,
and boy was it hot there. Must have been some kinda tradition or something.
Guess they knew when they were hot, dang hot.

Being one who lives outside of the U.S. (temporarily) and is back in the
U.S. (for the summer), I gotta agree with you - things are just a bit too
commercial. Even though I wasn't offended, I thought that what you had to
say was "nice... real nice." And I think I speak for everyone in our little
corner of Mayberry when I say that "the quality of mercy is not strained.
You're not talkin' to a jerk, you know!"
Lotsa luck to you and yours,

I was just reading *Mayberry Memories* and I saw on page 31 a photo of Andy
and Bob McQuain. I love this guy....he had a few bit roles in the first 3 or
4 seasons, but what ever happened to him? I once wrote to Jim Clark,
inquiring about him, but he had lost touch with Mr. McQain. I noticed that
the credit for the photo was *courtesy of Maydale McQuain*. Does anyone out
there know whatever happened to Mr. McQuain?
thanks.

It could be a lot of folks have got ingrown toenails, or maybe they just got
haircuts and them little hairs is ticklin' their necks. You never know what
makes a man touchy. Or, maybe the laundry put too much starch in their
shirts and it kinda chafed 'em in their armpits and made 'em mad all day.
While I'm here, let me remind all new members to PLEASE read all of the FAQs
on the web site. Just go to www.mayberry.com and click "Frequently Asked
Questions" over on the left side. Common questions such as "what happened
to Opie's mom?" and "why is the show sometimes called 'Andy of Mayberry?' "
are addressed there.

Subject: plain claude beaman the third
"Remember Mayberry's Beaman family? Aunt Bee identifies the four generations
as Claude Senior, Plain Claude, Claude Junior, and Claudette. If it was
"mandatory" that a father and son with the same name were junior and senior,
then Plain Claude would have to be both a junior AND a senior, which doesn't
make any sense."
Actually, if you want to get technical, plain Claude to be correct would
be Claude BeamanIII, (the third)-if you were named after your grandfather,
but you and your dad did not share that same name, you would not be junior or
the II or anything, except a guy who shares the same name with his
grandfather-the term "jr." and II(the second) are interchangeable, meaning
the same thing, depending on the parents` preferences-and this, folks is the
real story one passing down the same name to next generation!-more power to
ya!

Hi Mayberry Folks
Just wondering how many people noticed a little glitch
I think I saw in one of last nights several episodes
on Nick at Night. It was a scene in the Taylor living
room (I have forgotten which episode) and there was a
camera shot from below looking up at Andy and it was
at such an angle as to show the upper part of the
set's wall partitian or actually above it so that you
could see where it ended and the "nothingness" and
area for the lighting began. This was the first time
I've ever noticed it after seeing the episode
countless times.
I enjoyed watching these episodes as they included
scenes I had not seen since the shows first aired,
altho they did remove some of the scenes I was used to
seeing in them.
One thing I also noticed in the episode where Opie
tries to ruin Andy's chances with Miss Peggy was that
she was waiting to be picked up in front of the drug
store, but when she showed up at Andy's house later
after being splashed by a mud puddle, she was driving
her own car (not her T-bird), but a station wagon, I
think, which I thought was a little odd but I guess
she took a taxi home and got her own car altho when
Andy was at her house, there didn't appear to be a car
there, so maybe she left her car at work.......I love
these shows and the more I watch 'em, the more I love
'em.....
Have a Mayberry kind of day. I am enjoying being home
from Saudi in my little Mayberry part of the
world.....Niceville, FL. YEP, that is the real name
of my town.
Sandy in Saudi (presently in Florida)
