Yeah! That is one of the episodes in which you realize that Carla isn't
the self-centered person as she sometimes appears to be. It is a sweet
episode.

For those of you that pay attention to minor details-anyone notice the mistake
in the episode where Goober buys the gas station? Andy pulls up to the left
side of the gas pumps in his 1967 Squad Car and Goober tries to put gas in
through the right rear fender. The only problen is, on that year car the gas
filler is on the LEFT rear fender!

Hellooo Dolll,

Here's a reason or two of my own for being ornery;

1. I could have stayed at home and watched a George Rath movie.

2. Al liked you best.

3. Just shut up Bernie, just shut up!!!........

4. Otis crashed our jail cell after hours disturbing our beauty sleep.

"Somebody help me remember where I saw that Andy's middle name was Samuel."

I'm not sure but I think Andy Griffiths' son (who I think is now deceased) was
named Andrew Samuel Griffith. I'm not sure where this came from but it seems
that I heard this somewhere.

I haven't heard much about singing on here since I joined. I absolutely
loved to hear Barney and Andy harmonize on their songs. I thought it
extremely funny that Don Knotts received his Emmy one year for the show where
he sang off key . I've heard Andy Griffith say how difficult it was for him
to sing like that since he was a really good vocalist. Guess that's why they
call it acting!

Please forgive me if I seem to be a busy-body rebelrouser, having to voice my
opinion on every subject matter in the digest, but business is kinda slow
here at the boarding house, giving me alot of time to sit around with my
thinking bucket on, and think about all these things-plus, its just so much
fun!So if you will just humor a little ol` lady for just a spell, my vote for
the 2nd best show of what sums up Mayberry has got to be the episode about
"poor Horatio" where Andy is upset over Opie just giving a penny to charity-i
laugh everytime i see this one when Andy is trying to explain to Opie about
being charitable and giving, and then a tear usually comes too, when Opie
explains what he has been saving his money up for-to buy his classmate a
winter coat-this to me is the heart and soul of Mayberry-best of luck to you
and yers!

It is always interesting to have a close look at these little
inconsistencies that people point out from time to time on the mailing
list. One of the things I always do, and suggest others do when
mentioning them here on the list, is to come up with some sort of
viable explanation to resolve the contradiction. In this case,
perhaps Barney wasn't in town, being elsewhere sobbing over the
situation. Andy simply states "A call came through saying there was
some kind of trouble here" (or something similar)... perhaps Barney
left the courthouse telling Otis where he was heading and Otis took
the message and in turn notified Barney. Anyway, I'm still working on
a viable explanation for Barney's three middle names.

Kind Regards,

George

Subject: Barney's Car

I was watching TAGS where Barney bought a "car" from
Mrs. Lesch (sp) and I was feeling so sorry for Barney.
He looked so dejected when he realized that he had
been taken, and I thought at first how it didn't look
so good for Aunt Bee to be out pushing while Barney
road and Thelma Lou drove, but that just goes to show
you how everyone in Mayberry was willing to help each
other out in times of need. We all could take a
lesson from this one couldn't we?

This one still cracks me up and makes me LOL when they
all assemble in Andy's driveway to get in the car.
Aunt Bee and Opie make the mistake of leaning on the
car, which of course upsets Barney, being the owner of
a "new" car. When Andy asks if he can open the door
and Barney says: "Aw, just get in" I crack up. The
looks Barney can give are too too much, and when he
discovers that Gomer gets carsick....Gomer you trade
places with Opie...."I want him near a window!

I remember as a child taking Sunday afternoon drives,
for no reason..just to be together as a family. TAGS
sure takes me back doesn't it some of you?

Anita

way how are you feeling Gomer....sick as a dog..but

Looks like some confusion about Andys middle name.
Andy Griffiths middle name is Samuel.
Andy Taylors middle name is Jackson.
On the episode "Howard, the Comedian", the TV station call letters
were WASG for Andrew Samuel Griffith. Hmmmmm, makes you think.

So what, in the view of our members, is the second-best episode that
best captures what our favorite town is all about?

Well, it just has to be Opie the birdman, but my all time favorite and in
my opinion the funniest is the episode with Barney and the gypsy fortune
telling kit. I die laughing every time.

Hey to everyone,

My pastor and I are planning to teach the Mayberry Bible Study in the fall,
and it's my task to pull tapes of the episodes together. I've run into a
snag. Most of the episodes used in the study aren't on any of the
commercially available tapes I've seen, and I only have a couple of them
among the 30 or so I have taped. I know there are quite a few of you who
have all the episodes taped. If you would be willing to make copies for us
to use, please contact me via e-mail, and I will provide a list of the
needed episodes. Of course, I will provide the blank tapes and postage both
ways. Please let me know if you can help.

Subject: Blue Willow Dishes

Our chapter has recently been given a set of Blue Willow dishes. (This is
the pattern that the Taylors used.) We'd like to offer them for sale to
WBMUTBB members.
Although the whole set is for sale, we'd be glad to break it up so people
could have a few pieces to display with the rest of their Mayberry
memorabilia. Can't you just see a cup, saucer, and cake plate set out next
to Aunt Bee's recipe book? Or how about a dinner plate hanging on the wall
above your copy of Mayberry Memories? Or you could display your trading
card set with a soup plate as a backdrop. The gravey pitcher would be a
beautiful focus for a dried flower arrangement, and the ideas go on and on.

Contact me personally for prices and to see which pieces are still available.

Blue Willow Dish Set
(Made in USA by Homer Laughlin A 48 N 6)

Eight 5 3/4" saucers
Eight 3 3/4" cups

I just love all of TAGS,but I guess a couple of my
favorites is "checkpoint chickie" and "divorce
mountain style".Really do love the episode with the
Darlings. This site and the discussions is the best
thing since sliced bread. It's almost as good as a
TAGS marathon. Glad whoever mentioned the house on RFD
being the same one that's on the Waltons, another
favorite show, just not as big with me as TAGS.Had so
many of the same values and wholesomeness about it.
lotsa luck to you and yours!
