>I've told this before but I don't think our newer members have heard. It was
such a neat thing - In 1969 the Dillards came to our house and spent the
evening with us - pickin' & grinnin' - one of the highlights of my year
next
to my son being born - he was so little - didn't even have his eyes open
yet.
They ate dinner with us and I didn't hit anyone with a spoon. We had
ham
and TATERS and pearly onions, corn on the cob and some green stuff but I
can't remember exactly what it was and, of course, plenty of BREAD.

Goober Linda,
How did they end up at your house? Not that you aren't worthy. I'm
just wondering how you were blessed with having such fun guest.
'Lots of luck to you & yours!'

Would someone please re-post the URL to the site that allows you to watch
the classic TV online? I seem to have lost it out of my bookmarks. Thanks!

As to the colors of the wallpaper in Andy's house.
If you'll notice closely the PATTERN of the wallpaper
changed between B/W and color too. So the color of the
wallpaper may have changed as well.
In the original episode I think there was a deer's head in
the living room too which disappeared.
I think the colors were just the popular colors of the day.
I recall, in the 60s, my parents being big into blue and
green appointments around the house too.
As the color episodes came around the hotter colors of
clothes started to come out too. Couldn't have the stars
of the show (like Helen and Thelma Lou) clash with the
wallpaper now could they? :-)
That's just my theory...
Rev. Joe

Just wanted to throw my story of meeting a celebrity in. My daughter and I
went to Nashville to the Mayberry 2001 reunion and after the show on Friday
night, we went back to the Opryland Hotel to get something to eat. We went
in Rachael's and sat down and after we ordered we looked up and who was
coming our way but Charlene Darling herself. She sat down at the table
right beside us. A few minutes later all of the Darling boys came in and
sat with her. Before the night was over, Thelma Lou and Malcom
Merriwether had joined the party. We were very excited to be that close to
them. We we got up to leave they waved bye.

Linda wrote about The Dillards eating dinner at her
house....
I bet that was just awesome having them over, and
listening to their stories and such. We saw them at a
festival in Rock Hill, South Carolina in 1989, right
after Hugo, and Mitch went on telling stories to my
wife and I for probably 45 minutes...had a great time.
And Rodney has a great memory.....The last few times
we saw them, he remembered when the previous time and
place was, and that might have been a 1-3 years
before.
Rodney does have a website also:

Hey Group - I had my own personal Mayberry Reunion - just watching "The Music
Man" this afternoon. I was watching the movie and in the first fifteen
minutes I saw:
the kid who played the spoiled brat in the episode where Andy and Barney
confiscated his bicycle because of riding on the sidewalk. Next I saw the
guy who did Barney's singing off stage for him in the episode where they
tried to keep Barney from practicing with the choir. Then, of course, Ronny
Howard was Shirley Jones' little brother with the lisp, Winthrop. Just
wanted to share with all of you. Matter of fact, the movie just before was
"A Man Called Peter" about Rev. Peter Marshall, and Barney's stand-in singer
was also in that movie. He sure made a living out of his voice. Carol

Was watching an Alfred Hitchcock program on TV Land today and two Mayberrites
were on. Mayor Stoner and Henry Bennett. Mayor Stoner was a police officer
and Henry Bennett was a man who was hired to kill a man by pushing him out a
window. Well, a guy went out the window all right, but it was the wrong guy.
Poor old Henry must really be a jinx.

Had purchased this book a while back and just got
around to starting to read it.GREAT READ!!!!!!! Just
wonder if there is more like this by the same guy, more
volumes containing other episodes.Recommend for any of
you to get.
Coworker and I were talking about the
confusion/direction change for the robbery at the
station and she seems to think that the people came
from that same direction in the gold truck
episode.Maybe there was a fork or circular road that
you could split up and go either way.
