It was said that Paul Hartman a.k.a Emmett Clark, appeared in Petticoat
Junction the first season,I used to be a fan of Petticoat Junction but I
don't remember Paul Hartman being on there who did he play. And I also didn't
know that he and his wife were a vauldeville dancing team, and also I never
noticed that the Taylor home was the same as the I Love Lucys living room
I'll have to look at that more closely. As for the color episodes of the Andy
Griffith show they seem to be a lot better than what I remembered but Barney
was still the show on the B/Ws,from Tags fan in Louisville ddan221.

 Hey to Everyone -

One thing I like to do when watching TAGS is see if I can find anymore
goofs. Well, I did it again. In the Medicine Mam episode (I think that's the
tittle) Andy and Barn are playing checkers at the very end of the show and
Andy takes an extra turn. Hope he won!

Subject: Aunt Bee Driving

Hi Mayberry Neighbors
I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this when
watching the episode where Aunt Bee learns to drive.
When she is in the car for the first time and Gomer is
showing her where everything is, he explains that the
clutch is to be used when changing gears......then he
proceeds to show her each of the 3 gears on the shift
lever, but he never tells her to put in the clutch
while he is changing from one to the other gear. Aunt
Bee is behind the wheel and Gomer reaches over and
moves the gear lever from 1st, to 2nd and then into
3rd gear but no further mention of the clutch is
made...
Now I realize it is possible that that little snippet
was cut out as unnecessary, etc., or it was just an
oversight, but I had not noticed it before watching
this time and it got my attention...

Wouldn't it damage the gears to do that without having
the clutch in? Maybe she had it in and we just are to
assume it. Could be. Anyway, I enjoyed the episode
and was glad to see Andie come around to the idea of
her driving after his first rather vocal
opposition...I also noticed that Aunt Bee put the key
in on the left side of the steering wheel which I know
was the way some cars were made for awhile.

results: Where I come from, the County Clerk is in charge of counting the

taken sides in the election.>>

For that matter, the county sheriff usually has a *very* important role in
elections. If he can't do it due to the appearance of partiality (i.e., if
he's running for re-election) then he usually appoints a deputy or someone
else. So, why wasn't Goober (or Judd, for that matter) counting the votes with
Howard? Maybe if they'd all been down at Howard's office instead of the
Taylor's living room, that would have made the only difference...

Hey Everybody,

I thought I would stick around in Mayberry an extra day. In response to
Keith in Nebraska on the colored episodes, I would agree with two of his
favorites Dinner at Eight and Floyd's Barbershop. My other ones would be
the one when Howard was trying to join a private club I think was called
the Regal Order of the Golden Door to Good Fellowship and the other one
where Goober went to Raleigh with Andy and family and discovered that
owning his own gas station made him a successful business man.

As a major league umpire for 18 years, I have to admit one of my favorite
episdodes is the one where Andy misses a play at home plate. How well, I
know that feeling. However, Espn always chooses to show my mistakes, unlike
Aunt Bea who chose to let it alone.
My family and I will be travelling through Mt. Airy in early August. Do any
of you good folks have any suggestions on what to see.
Best of luck to you and yours, Larry Young

Huh? They look NOTHING alike!

Looks like a stretch to me considering the layout is
nothing alike and Andy had an upstairs - something
definately missing in Lucy and Ricky's APARTMENT!

Unless this person was talking about some Lucy and Ricky go
to the country episode. Their apartment in NY looked
nothing like the Taylor's home.

please explain further,

I have to share this with all. For the last umpteen years I have been going
around to antique shops and flea markets looking for a TAGS Lunchbox. My
wife and I had so much fun doing this always hoping that each stop would
bring us a box. So what happens. I finally find out there never were TAGS
lunchboxes. Talk about disappointment. Kind of like when I found out there
wasn't any real Santa Claus. I shared this with a shop keeper yesterday and
she thought it was so funny. Oh well, I think I will now start looking for
Barnie Fife dolls. Chances are I will never find one, but won't I have fun
looking.

My three favorite color episodes are:

1. "Only a Rose" (Clara really proves herself to be a wonderful
friend.)

2. "Opie Steps Up in Class" (A fine lesson about being yourself
instead of trying to be something you're not to

     impress others.)

3. "Look, Paw, I'm Dancing" (Helen doing that '60's dance is a
sight to see.)

Mary Grace Gossage

Subject: Mayberry Thesis

Hello All!

I have been reading the digest for several months and I guess have been too
shy to post. Well, here goes! I am in the beginning stages of writing my
thesis on Mayberry and its effect on actual small towns. Before I get to far
into my research I wanted to ask the experts how they feel about Mayberry.

- -I suppose I am interested in everyone's ideas about Mayberry as a physical
place. Does it reflect anyone's memories of life in a small town?

- -Is anyone from a small place that has tried to retain or regain its
Mayberry-like qualities?

- -Does anyone know of any good sources that describe the actual set?

I hope these questions aren't too much! I hate be a bother!

Oh yes, here's my survey...
NAME: Holly Barnett
HOME: Murfreesboro, Tennessee
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO MAYBERRY DAYS: No, but I want to go this year for
research!
FAVORITE QUOTE: This is not exact...Briscoe to Andy "You may have the haircut
of a city feller, but your heart was shaped in a bowl."
FAVORITE CHARACTER: Andy
FAVORITE EPISODE: Opie the Birdman-It always makes me cry!
FAVORITE BARNEY NICKNAME: Barn
FAVORITE TAGS SONG: Dooley!
FAVORITE TAGS THING YOU OWN: Hopefully, in a year it will be my completed
thesis!
DO YOU HAVE ANY PETS NAMED AFTER TAGS CHARACTERS: I've never had a pet but if
I ever do, I like Winkin', Blinkin', or Nod.

Thanks for reading!

Subject: Color episodes

I'm glad to see some of our members reevaluating their feelings about the color
episodes. I know that the color episodes are quite different from the earlier
black and white episodes, but they do still show the wonderfulness of Mayberry
in my opinion. People still help each other and support each other. Where
else would a man eat three spaghetti dinners in one night without screaming?
True,
Andy did threaten to kill the ol' Goob, but he didn't follow through! I really
enjoy all of the episodes, and I was glad to see the RFD episodes recently. I
hadn't seen many of them before and it was great to see those. I got part of
them on tape, too, and am hoping to get the rest. I also have all of the TAGS
episodes on tape, and love watching them over and over and driving my husband
crazy!! Y'all have a Mayberry day... Lisa

Ok, I choose the first two you chose for two of my favorites. Howard's
swinging singles pad was too much! Poor Helen! And I absolutely love Dinner
at Eight. Another favorite would be when Goober had the prize drawings at the
gas station and Floyd thought he won $200. Gosh, choosing favorites is so hard!

I'm still kinda new here to the digest (6 months or so) but a faithful
daily reader. Man, there are some EDUMICATED folks on this listing!
With the 4 & 5 year olds, I get to watch "pieces" of TAGS every night or
so at most. The kids really think it's great, but the attention span
ain't there, yet.

As a fan of many classic TV shows, I do a lot of collecting of files
from the internet. My wife suggested others might enjoy some of the
audio/video files and info I have collected from all over the web, so
I've started putting them together in CD format. I can't tell ya how
much fun I've had poking around the web gathering all the classic TV
stuff I can find...

I've offered a couple on ebay & probably collected back enough to pay my
internet bill. Last night, I finished organizing the TAGS CD I've been
working on for months and put it on ebay for sale. The first dozen or
so I made have already been sent out to friends of mine who are TAGS
fanatics and have been dying for me to get the CD finished.

If you are interested in one, the ebay link is
http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewListedItems&userid=wooster
2&include=0&since=-1&sort=2&rows=25 or you can do a search under seller
"wooster2" I also have CD's for Gilligan's Island and Hogan's Heroes if
you're interested. Love those shows too!

Now, ya wanna hear me sing "Eatin Goober Peas"?

Wooster
