In the TAGS episodes, the church struck me as probably Baptist or Methodist; then in en episode of Mayberry R.F.D., in which Andy and Helen return to christen Andy, Jr., the church seemed more ornate than usual, and I assumed it was supposed to be a Catholic church. This is probably a ridiculous question, but I have been curious about this for a while. Thanks and best wishes. I expect they did this deliberately, so as not to offend anybody who might have strong feelings about one denomination or another. We can, though, eliminate a few denominations from consideration. I think we can rule out Baptist, because A: the All Souls Church holds a dance in "Irresistible Andy," and 2: they baptize infants (Andy Taylor Jr., for one). These are two things which normally wouldn't happen in a Baptist church. We can also rule out Catholic, because we learn in "The Pickle Story" that the preacher is married.
