I bought license plates from Phil out of the last group he made. They are great! I would highly recommend these to anyone wanting an unique Mayberry piece of memorabilia. Steve ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Aug 2001 08:27:12 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Mayberry Day Tickets for sale It pains me to post this, but I have Mayberry Day tickets that I have and can't attend, if anyone is interested. The tickets I have are for Country Revue, Colonel Tim's Talent Time, the Dinner and Annual Meeting and the Doug Dillard Band (Friday night). I would like to sell them all at the same time, but would be willing to break them up if needed. There are two tickets for each event. If you are interested, please let me know at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Aug 2001 08:08:19 -0500 From: Paul Mulik <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Mayberry Deputy >>>If you have'nt seen DB as the Mayberry Deputy you are missing out, If ever Barney Fife was reincarcerated (Or is it reincarnated ) he found his way into David. We had the pleasure of seeing Neil Engle's (fellow wbmutbb chapter member) personal collection of TAGS memorabilia, on display with other "collectibles" at a local Kansas City mall. Neil was kind enough to share his Mayberry Union High letter jacket, several autographed items, an Otis cigarette lighter, postcards from Mt. Airy, TAGS license plates and other goodies. Neil has a large photo poster of Barney, autographed by Don Knotts. The collection is nice, real nice. We just wanted to say "way to go, Neil!" Isn't it odd, though, that there is mention made on MANY occasions of ACTUAL places in and around Mt. Airy? A copy of the Mt. Airy newspaper has even been spotted in at least one episode. Whoever posted that message about the Lewis Grizzard column, thank you. I was finally able to print it out for my scrapbook after his administrator helped me. I'm slowly learning things about this computer more and more. Anyway, it is a cute column and I am glad to have it. Also Aunt bee was there reading her aviation magazine.<< Was it Aunt Bee or Miss Simms? I was watching Nick @ Nite's Otis Campbell mini-marathon on Sunday. Wow, he was so incredible, and such a positive for the show. Who was Otis' best friend? Barney, Floyd, Otis, or Andy? Or possibly one of his drinkin' buddies we never saw? This brings me to the point of this post. I know most everyone here has adopted a name of a character on the show, and I was wondering if the name Charlie Varney was taken? I'm sure it prolly has been. Though we never saw him, he was mentioned at least once, possibly more. He was the guy that had the fun sounding party when Otis sold him his car. I'll bet he was a good natured, laughing sort of Joe, and had great parties. I'm sure he imbibed, but probably made it to work every day, never hurt anyone, and may have stopped by the All Soul's gathering place on occasion for repentance and a good sermon or 2. I'm sure he also relocated to another town after the "Banjo Playing Deputy" episode! Andy & Barney didn't try to raid the party, like they did Aunt Bee & The Lady's Society when Colonel Harvey's elixir was flowin'. Maybe coz their party was too early in the day, and Charlie's get together was at night? Anyone else got dibbs on Charlie Varney's name? Charlie Wanna B. One was Doris Packer, who played Mrs. Wiley on TAGS. She played the principal of Beaver's school. The other was Burt Mustin, who played Judd on TAGS. He played a fireman. It's from a list of questions and answers which supposedly aired on the old Hollywood Squares game show. Peter Marshall: You've been having trouble going to sleep. Are you a man or a woman? Don Knotts: That's what's been keeping me awake.
