Let's have Ricky and Lucy driving to Florida through Mayberry. Should their car break down, or should Ricky be ticketed for speeding? How about a littering fine for Lucy? Wait, I know! Wouldn't be that much of a stretch...Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel did drive south, not once but twice. And back on topic...if you believe in the complicated world of "TV universes," figure this: Lucy, Ricky et. al. interacted with "Make Room for Daddy"'s Danny Williams and family on an episode of "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour," while Danny Williams and family were pulled over by Sheriff Taylor...so yeah, it *could* have happened! Only problem: Lucy and Desi were divorced the year TAGS premiered...perhaps it might have happened otherwise! I'm sorry I jumped the gun here and forgot all the previous notes about "Erik Von Zipper" were about the actress that played Flora on TAGS. I left out the keyword "girlfriend". I should have said, "head motorsickle bad guy's girlfriend Flora". But in spite of the mistake I still enjoyed the movie. And yes to Hollie in NJ. There is another person in NJ that loves TAGS as much as you, me. Have a Mayberry day. Bill in NJ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I'm thinking a small town in which everybody knows everybody would print "Lawson" or "Floyd Lawson," not "Local Barber," especially when Floyd was probably the only barber in town! Oh well, this is still a neat piece of memorabilia and I'll order my copy soon! But instead of just saying "they goofed," I think it's fun to try to come up with an explanation that fits the facts as we know them. How about this: Perhaps Opie had some sort of errand to do that day, which took him a few blocks off course. Maybe he had been asked to stop by and feed somebody's pets or livestock (like he later did in "Goodbye, Dolly") or perhaps Aunt Bee had asked him to stop at the butter and egg man's farm to drop off a payment or place an order or something. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 06 Sep 2001 10:18:55 -0500 From: Paul Mulik <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Rance Howard >>>Were my eyes playing tricks on my or did I see Ron Howard's father in a few episodes? John >> You're right, he has small parts in 4 episodes. He was nearly always present on the set anyway, and since he was an actor, it was only natural that he was occasionally hired for a role, sometimes as a last-minute replacement. His four roles are as follows: The bus driver in "Cousin Virgil" The chauffeur in "Barney and the Governor" A T-Man (treasury agent) in "A Black Day for Mayberry," the Gold truck episode* A party guest in "The Rumor" (at the end of the episode, he angrily shouts "Barney, how could you do it?") *Many sharp-eyed fans have noticed that two different actors played this role (or perhaps I should say, many viewers read about it in Neal Brower's column, and then years later claimed to have been the first to spot it [grin] ). Anyway, what happened was, the man originally cast suffered some sort of seizure during filming, and had to be replaced. In the opening scene, when Opie enters the courthouse looking for his father (now THERE'S irony for you!), if you look quickly you can see the other actor sitting by the door wearing a black hat. This is because that scene was already finished and it would have been too expensive and time-consuming to re-shoot the whole thing. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 06 Sep 2001 13:46:33 -0400 From: "Richard Dixon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: TVLand's new headliner I just found the following on the TVLand website: "TV Land, the new home of I Love Lucy, will bring you Lucy like she hasn't been seen since the 1950s! Our five-night marathon features 40 episodes, fully restored to their original lengths. Also, we've recreated several of the original animated Lucy-Desi "stick figure" openings that will be part of each episode we air." It sure would be nice of them to restore TAGS to their original length. Any ideas on how to get them to treat TAGS with this sort of respect? _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Sep 2001 06:06:39 -0700 (PDT) From: David and Angela Forbus <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Re: Jack Prince/Hitchcock I've often wondered about that implement that Jack Prince bought at the "Save the Scobie house" rummage sale. It's bound to be some type of farm equipment, possibly a hay bale picker-upper, or some type of caliper for sizing or lifting calves, since the edges were rounded off? Also, I believe that Andy addressed Jack Prince as George or something else on that episode, not Rafe or Ben. I've seen the full scene, but lately that scene has been cut for the epilogue. Was glad to finally see the Hitchcock marathon, since the last one was postponed after Archie Bunker's death. I too noticed the Beav's house, and many TAGS alumni. Always wondered how Francis Bavier's character lived right next door to the other trailer, and she was outside, yet didn't see the thief enter the other trailer, or hear the young lady's screams. Ever notice that the half hour Hitchcock episodes were much better than the hour long? Same with The Twilight Zone. Wonder what Mayberry would have been like in a 1 hour time frame? They are the same price and if you want one just state that when placing your order. They are first come, first served, so don't delay in getting your payment to me, they're running out quick. Also, you can buy multiple copies and the shipping is still only $3.50. Many have asked if I accept PayPal. Since I am not making any money myself and PayPal charges for each transaction, checks and money orders only. Thanks for your help for "The Foundation For The Junior Blind."
