I can always recognize the same people laughing. Sometimes there's a short laugh and sometimes a longer one, but always I read somewhere that many of the laughtracks we heard for years and years on sitcoms came from particular shows, in which there were long, drawn-out, silent sight gags. "The Red Skelton Show" is one, because Red did a lot of pantomine. "I Love Lucy" is another. In fact, Lucy's mother is said to have attended most of the filmings of that show, and I wonder if she's the loud woman heard on the TAGS laughtrack. It would make sense that's where TAGS got it since it was shot at Desilu and both shows were on CBS... Also, the laugh track question. Now that I know he said "bowl" the saying makes perfect sense. Thanks to those who have already ordered. I have created a print commemorating Mayberry Days, 2001 featuring the stars that will be in attendance this year. Betty Lynn, Maggie Peterson, Doug Dillard, Howard Morris, LeRoy McNees and George Spence are all depicted on this 12" x 24" full color laminated (front and back) print. It is ideal for autographs. As a matter of fact, I created it with that in mind. It is a limited edition of 100. No more will be printed. The cost of the print is $25. Also, $5 from each print sold will be donated to the Surry Arts Council to assist them in bringing Mayberry Days to us each year. They do a great job, as all who have attended in the past know. Those of you who are thinking about going, do yourself a favor and make the trip. You will have a weekend of good, clean, family fun, which is unfortunately a rarity these days. To get a glimpse of this print, go to: http://members.aol.com/gwedo186/mdays.jpg Prints are available immediately on a first come, first serve basis. If you would like to purchase a print or have any questions, you can email me directly at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please do not reply to the digest. We don't want to tie things up with trivial trivialities. I will give you further instructions on where to send payment, etc. I will accept orders until Monday Sept. 17. That way you will be sure to have your print with you when you get to Mt. Airy. Thanks, Gary ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 07 Sep 2001 23:42:10 -0600 From: "Tom Lawrence" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Hooray for Andy on weekend Hello, "Andy" fans! Looking forward to the "Andy" episodes this weekend. I think the TVLand regular schedule or a varied schedule on weekends is superior to the 48-hours-of-something schedule. I like "Andy" on weekends during the day. Mr. Newsome can be forgiven for his misguided ban of the beach movie comment. We understand his order to remove that line from the list, at least for awhile until he deemed it part of the folklore of Mayberry. It was a stretch, but a lot of the discussion here is. Some we love, other stuff we tolerate .. usually. After all, there's times we've all "heard just about enough about that tomato." We all have Barney-like moments. Those human flaws of his make him a valued one. On another topic, Barney and Thelma Lou are still one of the cutest couples in TV history. I enjoy seeing them together, and I also got a kick again out of the cow thief episode Friday night. As an old dairy farmer, I love the fam scenes and admire Andy's cool detective work. He'd look fine in a fedora and trenchcoat. Hoping this makes it through the secret screening process ... Greetings fellow Mayberrians! This is Tod 3Baron von Rick-toven2 in Nigeria. I9m in an awful mess. I9m teaching at the American International School here in Lagos. Since coming to Nigeria, I9ve missed all of the big marathons, TV Land9s big run of TAGS, etc. What I9m about to ask is a tall order, but I9m gonna ask it anyway. Is there anyone out there who has taped all 249 (I think that9s the magic number) TAGS episodes, and would that someone out there be willing to copy their tapes for me? I have a few episodes on tape, but not many. It9s lonely in Nigeria without Andy, Barney and the gang. I would be more than happy to pay for the tapes and would be happy to 3dash2 (as we say in Nigeria) a little something extra for your troubles! I could give you plenty of time to work on, as my next trip back to the States (Houston, TX) is in July. If there are any takers out there, you can e-mail me at: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mayberry says Happy Motoring! LOLTYAY (Gomer says that one.) As far as I know, none was ever produced, but here's one I saw on eBay (by the time you read this, the auction will probably be over but you can still take a look if you wish): http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1633624993 The description says "Here is a sealed in a mint only box" which makes no sense, but it seems to indicate this is an empty box which has been shrink-wrapped. With today's technology, something like this would be easy to fake. Looks mighty suspicious to me. Last time I checked, the bid was at $86.99. - --Paul ------------------------------ End of wbmutbb-digest V3 #266 ***************************** ************************************************** ~ Visit our sponsor ~ Weaver's Department Store ~ http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/weavers/ ************************************************** You must send your comments to the Digest from the address you used to join WBMUTBB or your message will not be posted.
