COMMENTS:
I am 40 years old. I am married with two children. I am the director of
Industrial Engineering at TPI corporation. I have always loved the Andy
Griffith Show. My wife thinks I am crazy because I can watch the re-runs over
and over and still laugh at the same
things over and over. I am in the process of introducing my two girls to the
enjoyment of watching the show. They love Earnest T. Bass "Mountain Wedding"
and "The Pickle Story". I try to pick out obscure things in each show I watch
as points of trivia questions to my friends and family.
My family will see a show and ask me a question about that show to see if
they can stump me. I am usually able to answer with the correct name or fact.

COMMENTS:
First of all, my middle name is Greg and that is what I perfer to be called.
I am 23 years old and have been a fan of the show ever since I started
watching television. I feel that my knowledge of trivia about the show is as
good as anybodies. I have quite a few of the shows on tape, but I would
eventually like to have them all. I have never been to Mayberry Days at Mt.
Airy, but I am considering going this year. I just recently learned about
this club while reading an article about Mt. Airy and Mayberry in the current
issue of Blue Ridge magazine. I had no idea that there are as many fans like
myself as there are.

I've been an Andy Griffith fan about as long as I can remember. While
growing up, I knew there just had to be better place to live. I was left
home alone and Andy, Opie, Bee, Barney and the other became my family. I now
am all grown up and have my own live family, but try to not miss watching my
other famiy.

COMMENTS:
I am a 27 year old female living in a very small farming community in Ky -
about 20 miles to the nearest town. I have been a TAGS fan since I was born.
I love the simple things in life. I am an only child and live on the same
family farm as my parents. I love the message of strong family values that
the show sends out. In this day, I haven't found a lot of people who stand
up for their morals and do the right thing, and I wish there were more folks
who were humble and honest, like the characters on TAGS.

Subject: Barney Fife EMT

Hellooo Dolll,

This weekend I attended a class to become a CPR instructor. The instructor
was a real drag, so I made up for it by imagining what if Barney Fife were
an EMT instead of the deputy. I could just see him teaching class, being as
precise in giving directions as ever in his overstated ways, and then when
the real thing came along, like a broken leg or unexpected birth, getting
real nervous and shaky as he does, but in the end coming out a real hero and
life saver.

I am not putting down Barney, or discounting emergency medical personnel in
any way shape or form, as I have an EMT license myself, but I was
entertaining myself during a badly run class.

Anyhow, I was wondering if anybody else has ever thought of the characters
in different occupations other than what they hold in Mayberry. Another
example is Howard Sprague. I could easily see him as being a high school
History,English, or Science teacher.

I have to agree - objectionable commercials are on every channel. Even worse
than the pictures in The Police Gazette ( "And Barney - he's never been
married") Seriously, it is disgusting (pronounced DIS - gusting) - far worse
than the Mayberry Band.

I can't think of episodes where they actually showed the rain in Mayberry -
except, of course, for the show about the gypsys. I do think that after Andy
delivered Sam's baby, he and Barn were on the porch talking about how good
the air smells after a rain.

Glad to be back and have the time to read WBMUTBB again. It's great!!

I bought a squad car box and a Barney's cycle box last century from the same
guy I suppose. I paid $25 each for them - a lot I know but I wanted them
because I thought they were neat and they ARE really nice I think. Anyway,
it was fully explained that they were empty and that there never was a kit to
be had - they were always just boxes. I bought them knowing all the details
and don't regret it. They are real cute and make a nice addition to my
collection.

The store is in the mall directly across from The Pancake House in
Gatlinburg. We looked at their merchandise and found nothing we could not
get at Weaver's. The prices at Weaver's are somewhat less.

P.S. The Pancake House is one block north of Ripley's.

Dear all:

Just had to share this with all of you. I am a 41 year old college kid right
now and one of the courses I'm taking is American Government. Today our
teacher showed us a video as an intro to the Preamble of the Declaration of
Independence. What should come on but Andy and Barney! The show where
Barney claims to remember the beginning of The Declaration of Independence.
Andy has to feed him every word, the class was just rolling. I of course was
in heaven, what a nice way to start the class!

Hope everyone's day started as nice as mine! And don't forget "Goober says
Hey"

Let us not forget, "Dogs, Dogs, Dogs" and the storm. Remember the
little trembler?

"...dogs are short and they take care of their own. Giraffes don't.
No, giraffes don't at all. Boy, giraffes are selfish, just run around
looking out for number one, getting hit by lightning..."

Would you all like to see Aunt Bee lose her cool? Just sit me in front of
one of those horrendously crude and explicit commercials, and let me roar!
I have noticed an escalation of "those kinds" of commercials on family
programming in the last 4-6 months. Maybe it is acceptable family
conversation starters in some homes, but there are just some subjects I do
not care to explain about, or elaborate on to my four children, especially
the
little guys!

When TAGS was the noon to 1:00 pm fare on the local FOX affiliate, the
commercials showed some crude previews of other programs. Several of
us wrote and asked that they save those for another time slot, or better yet,
not show them! We were told that we are in the VAST minority and that
they could not change their commercial programming for a few religious
people who couldn't "handle it". I doubt that a letter-writing campaign
would be effectual unless we ALL wrote. I would think that 1740+ letters
on the same subject would maybe draw some attention. What do you think,
folks? I'll see what I can do to get address info if you all will e-mail me
and
let me know you want the info, that way we don't clutter up the Digest with
the sharing of this kind of information.

My best to you and yours!

Mayberry was awfully dry when you think about it! And did it ever snow?
The three rains I remember are the Gypsies, the night Sam Becker's wife
had a baby, and the dogs out in that field. I tried but that was all I
coud think of.
