Paul, you're telling my story. The reason I can recite the Preamble today is
because I learned it from Schoolhouse Rock as a child. That scene remains one
of my favorite TAGS scenes of all time.

As I read the digest tonight, I too have Andy on my TV for a few moments.
Like you, after being glued to the news most of the day, listening to the
President's address, and spending much time in prayer, I found the need to
seek out a few moments of something familiar and secure. I've always felt
TAGS gives us an opportunity to take a brief break from the troubles of a
difficult world, and that's true today now more than ever. God bless
Mayberry ... and God bless America.

I've seen mention of rain in the Quiet Sam epiode, "Dogs, Dogs, Dogs" and the
Gypies. How about the "Black Day for Mayberry", when the gold truck
supposedly came through town?

As I, along with thousands of people sat around my T.V. today and watched the
horror of what happened in New York City, Washington D.C., and outside
Pittsburgh. As I watched hour after hour I found myself numb. "Enough" I
thought, I grabbed my remote and looked at the clock, T.V. Land was still
showing an episode of T.A.G.S. Just the few minutes in Mayberry seemed to
lessen the blow to my mind what had happened earlier today. There are
thousands of people in our country in disbelief today and for the days to
come. I find it somewhat comforting to know that for a small amount of time
one can escape.

You wrote almost exactly what I was going to write about. I had been glued
to the TV all day and in total shock and so tense and angry and horrified
that I was shaking. I escaped to Mayberry for an hour just to get away for a
while. KSTAR was the only channel that wasn't showing NY. I'm now still
watching the news coverage - I'll not sleep tonight.

Dear Mike B. and the rest of my fellow TAGS fans. I agree. I am a newspaper
editor in a small Mayberry like town in Ohio and all day long I have been
hearing, reading and writing about the devastating and tragic strike against
our country today. I've been so overwhelmed with feelings and thoughts. I
just got home at midnight and decided to check my email. Allthough, I've
been so busy the last couple weeks at work I have not been reading the
wbmutbb digest I decided that a little piece of Mayberry was just what I
needed tonight. So even though I didn't watch a video, I did read the list.
Just the references to the episodes listed made me smile as I thought about
them. Who could ever forget Gomer in that slicker in the Gold truck episode
or all those dogs in the court house? God Bless you all. Keep praying for
peace and those who were killed or injured. With love from my little corner
of the world. Skippy...a.k.a. Cathy J. Schreima the Lion's Den Lady.

I don't want to start a moulage, but I don't know if
everyone understands what the guy on E-Bay is sellin'.

1. What's the guy sellin'? A box
B. Does he try to keep it a secret? No.
3. Is the guy a crook? I don't think so.

I believe he's just tryin' to sell a box which could
be a model. He clearly states it in his message. And
I hope those who bid on it read the message.

To Paul Mulik,
This isn't exactly about Mayberry, but I used to love SchoolHouse Rock,
Multiplication Rock and all the others ! You're right, if ol' Barn had the
opportunity to watch that stuff, he'd have known the preamble cold. I love
that episode, "...in order to form a more perfect you......NYUN...union!"

Barney saying The Preamble is one of the funniest scenes from TAGS.
I watched SchoolHouse Rock when I was younger and because of that I was
able to
quote the whole Preamble on a history test. The whole class was able to
quote
The Preamble, because of that show.

I was watching a movie called "The Stooge" with Jerry Lewis and Dean
Martin.
Most people know that Aunt Bee played Jerry's mother. I spotted Rose (Mary
Treen)
(she was the housekeeper leaving before Aunt Bee comes to live with Andy
and Opie)
as the secretary to Jerry's boss. Mary Treen also played Cousin Tilly in
"It's a Wonderful Life". Don't forget about Mayor Pike and Sheldon Leonard
in that great
movie.

Here's my ideas

1. He was feeling "special sporty"
B. He was going to smoke about 8 "copies" a day (a la
Barney)
3. He was waiting on his "reg'ler check" and needed Barn to
stock up on cigars for him until it came

Wasn't you at the last lodge meeting Charley? Oh that's
right, you had a snoot full and was singing with Otis in
the back of the room and then you nodded off.

Those guys Andy mentioned just happen to be the last three
fellas brought up for induction into the Golden Door to Good
Fellowship. Grovely Barch almost got blackballed when his
mother got to Goober to keep him out.

Subject: model car kit - update

Okay, I talked with the folks at www.modelroundup.com and I think I have
this figured out now. There has never been a Mayberry squad car kit made by
AMT, nor anybody else. At some point, AMT DID produce a kit for the 63 1/2
Galaxie 500. This was a sort of 2-door fastback model. The real squad
cars (both on the show, and in real police departments nationwide) were all
4 -door sedans.

Anyway, the folks at model roundup have made a sort of add-on kit that turns
the AMT kit into a squad car. If I understand them correctly, you have to
buy the regular AMT kit, plus their add-on kit. In the add-on kit, you get
a new car body in the correct 4-door sedan model, different wheels, door
decals, red beacon, and whip antenna. Put it all together, and you've got
yourself an honest-to-goodness Mayberry squad car.

I also asked them about the rumored motorcycle and squad car kit, and they
said it was in the planning stages.

More Rain References

It may not have been raining at the time, but Romena and
Ernest T. discussed how nice the weather was when they
was outside at Mis-ses Wi-ley's.
But Romena said it rained earlier in the week, and
Ernest T. says, " I know, I's right thar' in it."
Ernest T. is a nut, but he's an honest nut.
