Opie did call Floyd "Mr. Floyd" in the episode "The
Bookie Barber." It wasn't until the color episodes
that he started referring to him as "Floyd."

That's something that's always struck a chord with me - one of many
ways I can directly relate to TAGS. As a child growing up in NC, I
probably referred to most of the adults I knew by their first names.
Hmmm maybe it's an NC thing, I've never thought about that
possibility. The man my dad's boss for a while wasn't "Mr.
Mitchell," he was "Clyde." I never referred to aunts or uncles by
that title. It wasn't "Aunt Carolyn" just "Carolyn." There was
never a hint of disrespect or over-familiarity. So, it makes perfect
sense to me.

I don't recall that Ernest T's Ramona (or Romeena to him) ever had her last
name (..Beasley?) identified, did she?
We see her at Mrs. Wiley's party - and then in the "Class Reunion" episode we
know of Ramona "Wiley" (who Barney says was crazy about him). But the class
reunion episode suggests she moved away and hasn't been around for years until
the reunion when she's married and such (it's a different actress anyway). So
it's not likely that Ernest T's Ramona is Mrs. Wiley's daughter (though that
would make for some interesting holiday family gatherings if Ernest T and
Ramona got hitched). Juanita at the diner has a last name of Beasley, doesn't
she? -But I don't recall a Ramona Beasley.... Does Ernest T's Ramona ever have
her last name identified?

My daughter reminded me that it's time to get the Barney O'Lantern pattern
again for Halloween.. Are there other patterns, as well? How can I get Barney
again? I didn't save him from the last few years.

>>Did anybody else find it strange that Opie called
Floyd "Floyd" instead of "Mr. Lawson"?<<

Not at all. Andy was there and seemed to approve.
Floyd,....I mean Mr. Lawson, was tight with the Taylor
family. Opie also addressed Barney, Goober, Wally and
Gomer by their first names, among others. Maybe it's
a male bonding thing. He always referred to the
"mature" ladies of Mayberry by Miss/Mrs., or Mizz (pre
Ms.) "Last Name" (Miss Edwards, for
example).....Except on one occasion, when he referred
to Thelma Lou as "Thelma Lou". That was the episode
when Barney sent the "single maidens of Mayberry" to
Andy's house to discuss starting up a softball team so
Andy could pick a wife. Opie said something like "Pa,
why did Thelma Lou invite all those girls over here?".
He probably called her "Thelma Lou" because we never
knew Thelma Lou's last name. (I'm speculating on that
one). If its' agreed by the parent, child, and friend
for a youth to use a first name when addressing an
elder, then its' quite acceptible and respectable
behavior, especially here in the South/Southwest.
Even an honor, like a family member.

Hi all...

I couldn't help but think of TAGS this morning as I was eating breakfast...or
was it my second breakfast?

I happened to stop at "the diner" for breakfast. I usually get the special
(two eggs, hash browns, toast, stack of wheat's, sausage, orange juice and
coffee). Having finished that and a couple of cups of "java" and after
leaving Olive a quarter tip, I returned to work to remember that the
secretaries had decided to have a "bosses breakfast". I had completely
forgotten about it and boy, was I full. But, not wanting to be rude, I sat
down and finished my second breakfast......Mmmmm, mmmmmm. I couldn't help but
think what three plates of spaghetti must have felt like and was thankful that
I didn't have to go for a third breakfast...

The tough guy from the state police on TAGS was a neighbor on DVD. The
sexy defendant on DVD was none other than Sue Ane Langdon, who played
county nurse Mary Simpson in the episode "Three's a Crowd". What a
difference in the two characters. On DVD, she was a ditzy, sexy, exotic
dancer while on TAGS she was a sweet, innocent girl-next-door type. Mary
