For those of you that have a DSS satellite dish or has a cable company that carries the Hallmark Channel, they (the Hallmark Channel) show "Here Come The Brides" on Sunday at 1PM Eastern. It's a western comedy from the late sixties that starred Bobby Sherman, as well as our very own Hoke Howell (Dud Wash). I caught it today for the very first time at it was pretty good. Check it out next week. I checked the episode guide but couldn't narrow the search; maybe it wasn't Helen? You're thinking of the opening scene of #22, "Cyrano Andy." Barney and Thelma Lou are seated on one couch, while Andy and Ellie Walker are on the other couch, getting kinda "friendly." The power goes off momentarily, and when the lights come back on, we see that Barney has joined Andy and Ellie, leaving Thelma Lou all by herself on the other couch -- nice going, Casanova! BTW, that was Thelma Lou's very first episode. - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Oct 2001 19:56:45 -0500 From: Paul Mulik <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Ope-O-Lantern Hey Folks, Opie seems to be the most popular choice for this year's Jack-O-Lantern, so that's who I'm working on. I should have him done in another day or so. For them that don't know, to see the other patterns, just head over to the old Remshaw place. The URL is: http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/anewsome/private/rimshaw.htm If that doesn't work, here's how you get there: Go to www.mayberry.com and click "The Andy Griffith Show Rerun Watchers Club." Then, just scroll down a little ways and click on the words "Ol' Remshaw Place" or click the Jack-O-Lantern with Barney's face. Watch out! David Browning appeared as Barney, Phil Fox appeared as Ernest T and Brisco Darlin, and I appeared as Howard Spraue. My bluegrass band also performed many of the numbers that were done on the show. The event was wonderful and we raised over $2,000.00 For anyone wanting to see David perform, he will be performing at my music hall in Oakboro NC www.oakboromusichall.com He will be doing Scrooge (a dinner theater) on December 10th and 11th...... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Oct 2001 08:02:31 -0400 From: "Dan Ridge" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Ramona....Ancrum Thanks for the info: "Her name was Ramona Ancrum.... Gilligan was only on for 3 seasons, and had its' share of problems among the cast and netwok bigshots, which I don't think TAGS had. But it would still be great to see the few suviving main members do something similar, as in Andy, Don, Ronnie, Jim, and George. The Gilliagan characters bore an amazing resemblance to the real characters, especially the guy who played the Skipper. (and Jeff Pruitt on TAGS) Remarkable likeness. A very entertaining show. I believe the Brady Bunch & Partridge Family did something similar, as well. Would really love to see TAGS & DVD do something like that. One can only dream, little Buddy. Johnson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Youngsters addressing their elders I'm with those of you from the more formal school of thought. I've never allowed my nieces and nephews to address me without Aunt preceding my name and neighborhood children call me Mrs. Johnson or Miss Janine. I feel it fosters an attitude of respect and dignity although I can certainly understand the alternative. I always remember little Mike Jones addressing Goober as Mr. Pyle and ole' Goob complimenting Sam on having such a nice boy. I'm actually surprised that Opie was allowed this informality in view of Andy's strict rules on Ma'am and Sir. Oh well, just my two cents! Aunt Bee of Orlando P.S. I heartily recommend Jewell's book; it is both informative and entertaining!! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Oct 2001 15:22:59 -0500 From: Paul Mulik <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Curious, curious, curious Something mighty peculiar happened today. I got the newest tape from Columbia House in the mail (that's not the peculiar part -- I'll get to that, I'll get to that). The title of this volume, as listed on the back of the box, is "Barney's Blunders." The episodes listed are The Lucky Letter, Barney Runs for Sheriff, A Visit to Barney Fife, and Barney Hosts a Summit Meeting. However, the episodes on the tape are actually A Medal for Opie, One-Punch Opie, A Deal is a Deal, and Opie's Fortune. The REALLY odd part is that the label on the cassette reads "Thelma Lou." Did anybody else get a tape like this? - --Paul ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Oct 2001 06:56:22 EDT From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: wbmutbb-digest V3 #310 I have seen every episode of TAGS many times. Often enough to easily quote dialogue from any of them. However the "Rotten Ray" Ancrum story was a new one on me. Periodically I will see an episode with a scene at the beginning or end that I'd never seen before. I assume it has something to do with advertising or something. Is there anywhere a body can get copies of complete shows ? Chick-a-chee, chick-a-chee !! Something's just occured to me while watching the episode in which Dud and Charlene get a temporary divorce - other than that one episode has divorce ever been mentioned on TAGS? There's been the single folk, which there seems to be more than the average, and the widows(ers) but no divorcees. The best to you n' yours. When I go to bed at night I usually read something for a while to relax. More often than not it's a back issue of the Bullet. Mayberry helps me to forget the stresses of the day. Last night, I was reading the November 17, 2000 edition of The Bullett. I attended the 2000 Mayberry Days festival in Mt. Airy so I really enjoy remembering how much fun it was. I was calmly reading the front page about Jack Elinson and Richard Linke when I suddendly sat straight up in bed. The discussion under their picture read:"...The two were about as close as you could possibly get to "ground zero" for the Big Bang that created Mayberry 40 years ago." I've read that story a hundred times but it now creates a different image. It's too bad that our current world can't or won't be a little more like that Mayberry created 40 years ago. Reading the rest of The Bullet is enough to sooth the savage beast so I quickly read the rest and felt better - at least for a while. Thanks to everyone for keeping the spirit of Mayberry alive. ------------------------------ End of wbmutbb-digest V3 #311 ***************************** ************************************************** ~ Visit our sponsor ~ Weaver's Department Store ~ http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/weavers/ ************************************************** You must send your comments to the Digest from the address you used to join WBMUTBB or your message will not be posted.
