I can answer that one. According to the owners of "Melody Ranch," and old
west film studio in Newhall, CA, they have one in storage. I guess that Gene
Autry, the original owner of Melody Ranch, collected things like TV and movie
cars and he bought the 1963 car. I'm told that they have a spot for it in
there museum and hope to have it there by April.

With TVLand kicking off I Love Lucy this week, who should show up but Neal
Bentley (Mayberry's Guest of Honor and part-time pickpocket).

Hi Gang...

The most common connection on Dragnet was Herb Vigran who was the bookie
barber on TAGS. Herb (from right here in my town) was in countless
episodes as a featured extra. He played everything from a witness to a
reporter. Not sure he ever played a crook, but he did on Superman.

See ya, gotta go scrape the frost off the car, LOL

I've heard mention of Myers Lake (in California) in connection with TAGS. Is
this the famous fishing hole that we see on the show? If so, where is it
located and is it a place where a tourist can visit?? I'm headed to southern
CA in a few months a I'd love to see it if I can.

I've often noticed the sounds of Barney's
holster/belt. I'm sure this has been brought up
before, but does everyone else notice that great "new
leather" creaking sound it makes when he's moving
around? Especially when he's having those poignant
courthouse conversations with Andy, where there's no
other background noise. The studio microphones really
pick up on it. It's down right loud, but great
sounding. I think that sound makes him even "tougher"
than he really is, which is a brutal, yet fair,
lawman! See if you don't notice the creaking sound of
that belt the next time you watch. I dare ya!

LOL...cute...but it reminds me of something slightly more serious. Has
anyone noticed that patriotic promo TV Land has been running? The one and
only show they used to press their point about things that matter to us as
Americans was...you guessed it...TAGS, and specifically two clips of Andy and
Opie, including one in which they appear to be embracing. They couldn't have
picked a better show for that!

BTW, did anyone notice the closing of "Return to Mayberry" in which Andy and
Barney are (I don't remember) either raising or taking down the American flag
in the town square? That's the most overtly patriotic moment I can remember,
ironic since no one in television history quite possibly ever stood for
America, and what's right with it, moreso than the citizens of Mayberry.

Okay I'll get off my soapbox,

Is that the one, or one of the ones, which, in the epilogue, the light goes
back on and Barney has lip prints all over him? I'm usually still ROFL
whenever I see one of those!

This is a bit of a stretch, but Jack Webb co-starred on the later version of
Dragnet with Harry Morgan, who later starred as Colonel Potter on MASH,
where George "Goober" Lindsey made a guest appearance.

Hey everybody, I don't care for commercials to much, but I must say that the
TV LAND doing the right thing commercial with Andy and Opie walking down the
street is the best one I've ever seen and it doesn't even advertise a
product, just doing the right thing. They couldn't have used a better
example than TAGS. It choaks me up every time I see it. Have a great

My brother and I were telling TAGS stories and he started to tell me the
about the one when Barney tells Otis he needs a hobby and gets him a mosaic
kit. He (my brother) was laughing his head off and I was just sitting there
because I don't remember such a scene. Who out there knows what episode he
was talking about? I'm stumped.

About the Columbia House Mixups.. While I haven't had this happen to any of
my TAGS tapes yet I am a member of their I Love Lucy DVD Collection as well
and a lot of people reported getting a disc with different episodes than
the ones listed on the box for one volume. Also one run of their first DVD
volume of ILL froze at a certain point and a lot of people had to return
them for corrected ones. It definitely sounds like Cousin Virgil was
involved somewhere ;-).

You can call Columbia House at 1-800-667-0364 and they should replace it
for you. Also you might want to write down that phone #, as all the ones
being listed on invoices, etc for Customer Service no longer work.

How come TV-land can show I love Lucy un-cut for the shows 50th anniversary
but can't or won't show the Andy Griffith show?
I wonder what our chances would be if us members approached them(in a nice way
of course) about doing an un-cut Andy Griffith Show fandemonium weekend. This
is the second time TV-LAND has aired I LOVE LUCY un-cut.Maybe a petition?I
have tried to e-mail them with this suggestion but to no avail.

ok, here's one. Do you all remember the state trooper in the second episode
and the one with the gangster and his girlfriend who was hiding out in the
trailer park? Well, after being shown up by our own beloved Sheriff Andy
Griffith, the state trooper quit his job, turned bad and decided to hold up a
diner. This is where he shot Officer Pete Malloy (Adam-12) and got arrested.
See what happens when you go up against the Mayberry Police Department?
